Sony PSP hacked for use as PC status monitor
No money for a secondary display? No use for that worn-down PSP? There's hope for the future, friend. Hacker avi has discovered that Sony's handheld makes for a wonderful status monitor, providing a clean look at your PC's CPU usage, memory allocation and system temperature levels. All you'll need is a bit of training in Python, Lua for the PSP and a sister willing to stop watching UMD movies long enough for you to give this a go.

i love python.
A mac mini running ubuntu with a psp as a secondary display, now that's a setup you don't see everyday.
and a Microsoft keyboard!
Just as well...
I seriously cannot handle how awesome this is.
Mac Mini? That isn't a mac mini. It's an RCA Comcast Cable Internet Box.

Jeeze people. I expect better.
I've got my Slim hooked up as the third monitor for my PC using PSPdisp. Allows me to do exactly what this is, but with pretty pictures and graphics as well! Works over wifi too, but I use USB anyway to keep it powered.
hum this is multiplatform solution and the PSPdisp is windows only ....
What is this multiplatform? like xbox?
I've hacked everything on my psp, but this is so stupid I'm not going to be able to say that anymore, oh and sony you suck for releasing such a shitty hand held, I pre ordered a dsi and unless the psp 2 has dual joysticks and receives great reviews I will not buy another item from you again
you pre-ordered a DSi?
oh lordly lord.....
Have fun not playing Guitar Hero OR Rock Band...
since Nintendo conveniently ostracised all those customers
and Rock Band is gonna be on PSP
You don't want any sony psp products before they have dual analog joystics - and then you preorder a handheld with no analog controls what so ever?
@Taylor:
Because everyone loves to pretend to play guitar.
What about those without a sister? How do they acquire one?
I'd like to use my PSP as a 2nd display for something like Tweetdeck... I think that'd be cool.
Nonsense! All we need is an e-ink post-it glued to our monitors.
Seriously Useless!!!
Cool idea. Bravo
How did he have the time to make that when there are so many games to be played on the PSP???
I really wish he wasn't running such an ugly metacity theme though.
I beat myself over the head trying to find a use for my PSP after the novelty wore off, alas, I finally broke down and sold it last week. After reading this, I still don't regret it. :P
