Earlier this month,
MSI let loose
details on its
slimmest ultraportable yet and its oh-so-promising
Wind U123 netbook. Today, it's fully detailing the U123 lineup and formally introducing its newest gaming / multimedia laptop. As for the former, users can soon expect to see a U123, U123H and U123T; the first is the standard fare model, while the second gets equipped with a 3.5G (HSDPA) WWAN module. The U123T gets gifted with an integrated TV tuner, but sadly, there doesn't seem to be a way to get both extras bundled into one mega-U123. Moving on, there's the 14.1-inch (1,280 x 800) GX403, which sports a Core 2 Duo CPU, NVIDIA's GeForce GT 130M (512MB) graphics card, Turbo Drive overclocking, 4GB of system RAM, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, HDMI output, 4-in-1 card reader, USB / eSATA sockets and an optional Blu-ray drive to boot. Mum's the word on pricing or availability, but you can catch a glimpse of it just beyond the break.

The MSI site says the GX403 only has a 256MB video card...unless it's sharing 256MB of memory for graphics?
The MSI site says both (512 up top, 256 down below).
price? for MSI GX403
Sometimes you just gotta RTFA
you know it has to be cheap. Its MSI. (and no i do not mean the company is cheap too).
Maybe it's time to call tnkgrl if you want to get both goodies in one case with some class and no exterior signs of extra added coolness?
With these specs, it should be dirt cheap.
Yes but are we going to finally see the GN40 chipset?
Isn't the GT130M a rebadged 9500?
The laptop 9600M-GT is the same as a desktop 9500. The 130M may be a rebadged 9600M, though the clock speeds may be different. Which would make this laptop virtually identical to the GX423. The GX423 is unavailable in North America, BTW. It seemed to be available in Asia and France. I'd suspect the same for the GX403. Anyone know if this will be coming to the US?
It's like a 9650m gt. It handles Crysis on high around 17fps, and 3D Mark 05 at 11863. For comparison, the 9800m gs does crysis on high around 28fps, 3D Mark 05 at 13928, and is available in the Asus G50 for $900. In other words, this guy should be no more than 800, but I'm willing to bet it will be more. My eyes are still on the G50 for when my tax return is deposited.
Levi,
The GX403 is a 14" laptop, and will be over 2 pounds lighter than the G50. That gives it a different market niche than the G50. The direct competition would be the GT627, which has the same screen size and video card.
The most important spec of all.
Price???!!!!!!!!!!!
Like it matters to you.
Ugh, I'm tired of 1280x800 resolution, can't you bump it up?
comes with a 1680x1050 variant as wel
YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!!!!!!!
Heard It ALL Before!!!
MSI PROMISED the GX 400 back in August 2008 but it never hit the market... can't find ANY for sale on the web or in the UK...
Now, 9 months later... in May 2009, we have been waiting nearly a month since the "announcement" of the GX 403.....
I am beginning to think that MSI stands for
"Misleading Sales Information"
Anyone else smell a rat?
Come on MSI, STOP MAKING PROMISES THAT YOU DON'T KEEP!
WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE FOR THE GX 403???
PUT UP OR SHUT UP!
Are there any IT journalists out there who would like to put the heat on them and start asking them to put their products
where their mouth is?
Or perhaps they may consider sticking those fake product releases in a place where the sun doth not shine...
Cheers,
Harlow.
@Harlow: I completely agree with you again :)
I have been waiting for a month now since this laptop first came in the news. All I get when I Google the pricing / release date are the same 1 month old links which read “MSI unveils the new gaming laptop”.
Common MSI its showtime!! Why do you people want to make people NOT buy your products ??
