Sony extending premium PSN content to other devices, blowing minds
Getting premium content on your PSP and PS3 is great, but amazingly not everyone has bought into Sony's ideal home entertainment system and are thusly missing out on the true high-def gaming experience. Sony is now looking to sell content to those poor, misguided souls by expanding the availability of PSN network content to Blu-ray players, laptops, televisions, calculator watches, and novelty televisions. When, and which gadgets specifically? Your guess is as good as ours.

This might just be a good idea...
@manok
I love this idea, and I own a friggin 360. Me gusta.
@Padilla7921
i dont think this one applies to you
@manok Oh yea, I can finally get my video game fix on my calculator watch! Now if only I had a calculator watch, or any other Sony products. Wait a sec, this isn't going to help me at all, unless I can sling it to my Sony Walkman from 1994. Now where did I put that...

As a gamer, it does. This is going to drive my preferred console maker (MS) to innovate even more. And when companies compete, the consumer (like me) wins.
@Padilla7921
MS is fully aware of this and sony doesnt have a major handset backer to bring this to mobile phones (Sony ericson doesnt seem to want to include gaming to its handset as it would probably liquidate the PSP department) which would be a bigger market. If winmo7 has any xbox integration with the htc devices that are set to come out MS will be punting PS3's for fun........
Sounds like its exclusive to sony products... which ones? well, i'm thinking the new tv's ,computers, and and special media players. As a side note , can some one please explain to me why a person would choose a bluray player other than the ps3 from sony? totally legitimate, not trying to
@crazypeng1
I would only buy a stand alone bluray player if it costs about $100
@crazypeng1
Actually, they said it would be coming to PCs also. My guess is they will open this for licensing for other products.
@(Unverified) i wasn't aware that sony could make a product that inexpensive. I mean, I've been buying their products for quite a while and i just didn't picture that happening. and just in case i wasn't clear, i meant a bluray player FROM SONY.
@crazypeng1
Did you see the post about their new media connected Blu-ray players? Samsung and LG have some already out. For people who DON'T GAME but want streaming media, those types of Blu-ray players are great!
@(Unverified) they did have sony B-Ray player for under 100 bucks during black friday
Very nice!!
PSN content meaning videos, not games. Give me a full-featured, legit take on Bleem! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleem! - remember this bad boy?) for PSone titles on PC/Mac and I'll pay attention.
as long as it remains PSN, I don't Super Sony Network, Walkman Network, or any dodgy names like that!
i got the ps3 just to play mgs and final fantasy, not interested in weird networking stuff...
@mocax Not interested in buying or renting movies off the PSN? There's no wierd networking stuff here.
@YpoCaramel
not really, i prefer playing games.
that's good because all I really want is a unified experience throughout my gadgets. Also great competition for other services like itunes
I want this on everything
Also, Home will one day be the new hub of social networking...
Sony promises do occasionally exceed their grasp.
is 'thusly' a word?
Dear Engadget,
Stop your snarky comments about Sony products. I couldn't give a crap what your authors think of Sony. I do however, come to Engadget because they have great news about interesting technology. If you want to be snarky go to an Internet forum.
Thanks,
John
@letmeregister Dear John,
They make press releases for folks like you. No snark, just hype.
Kisses,
Tim
I hit a nerve :D.
