160GB PS3 Slim, 320GB Move bundle coming to US and Europe this fall
The leaks weren't wrong, they just weren't the whole story. A 160GB PlayStation 3 Slim is indeed coming to the US -- Europe, too -- but additionally, there's a heftier 320GB Sports Champions Move bundle. The former standalone console is available now stateside for $299, and according to the GamesCom press conference, Europeans will have to wait until October for 299 Euros. As for the biggie, which includes the game and one-player Move package, that's due out September 19th in US (or September 15th across the pond) for $399 and 349 Euros, respectively -- just in time for holiday shopping sprees.

sweet!
@chuck67
It is sweet! I am a little sad that I bought my 120gb ps3 slim recently, but oh well. Now lets see a Ps3 slim that can play Ps2 games!
@chuck67
You might of well said "First!"
But hey, now you can actually read the article.
@chuck67 yes, but how is this not breaking news?
@chuck67
Mesa can play with Ani all day long with Move's wand. Mesa thinks Ani would still win with his lightsaber.
@chuck67
Where is the White PS3!!
@chuck67 -- the fact that the 320GB Move bundle is only $399 ($50 more than the 250GB standalone) makes me think there will be a $349 bundle, too. Probably with a 160GB PS3...
@PolarBearTC -- I take back the $349 price... probably more like $299, but with what size HDD? nvm...
@chuck67 do i still have to buy the stand separately? would it really take so much money away from sony to include the stand?
Is it just me or does it seem like Sony and MS are doing everything they can to keep the pricepoint at 299 or higher? Bigger harddrives, motion add ons, special editions. The PS3 and 360 could both be 199 (or less) for a non stripped down version by now.
@primetime4 They make more money on accessories (and HDD upgrades) than consoles, so forcing you to buy accessories that you may not otherwise buy makes it look like you're getting a much better deal, and if you plan on buying the accessories in the first place than you are.
@primetime4
Is it just me, or is anyone else a little ready for the new generation of hardware to come along soon?
Definitely! Can't wait for my mind controlled exosceleton.
@primetime4 The xbox 360 is available for $200.
@RhymeMaster
is it just me, or does anyone else feel like some pancakes?
@fastm3driver
Yeah, Sony's stuff has always been much more expensive, and not necessarily higher quality. With a cheaper 360 + Kinect and the Wii still at $249 (doesn't need add-ons either), I don't think the people interested in casual gaming will be interested in a $400 purchase.
@absolut3 Sony gave it to Apple to finish, so maybe late 2010 early 2011?
@bravokiloromeo I had high hopes for kinect especially after ms hired the wii 3d headtracking guy. However, as always MS overpromised and under delivered. Kinect is being offered at $150 without the DSP to offload the work from the xbox CPU. It is too expensive and not powerfull enough for the games it would be usefull for IMHO.
Move seems to be better engineered and has more support from traditional games. it can also do everything that makes kinect great Via the playstation eye with the added advantage of having a physical device inyour hand.
@chuck67 for 50 buck more, you get double the harddrive space, a playstation eye, a move controller and a game.....this is a bundle that nobody can pass up!
Move is actually turning out to be a decent looking product (compared to Kinect)
@Bob the Terrorist huh?? Kinect looks much better than this thing. Move is just a wii knockoff with better graphics.
@Iflyabus, you sir, fail. First, cause the move is tracked by the camaras. Second cause motion control is not a nintedo brain child, its been around for awhile. and the wii controlers suck, thank god a company ike sony stepped in to do it right(no troll intended).
@Bob the Terrorist - Honestly, they both look stupid and probably will only be cool for a week.
@Irondog
I think what Iflyabus means is, Move is just taking a concept already in practice and making it better (which is nothing wrong with that). However, Kinect is trying to push the limits with 3D motion capture, facial /voice recognition, and controller-free gaming. I agree and think Kinect is way more appealing than Move.
@Bob the Terrorist They're both looking good in my opinion, along with the Wii and Motion+
At the end of the day it's how the devs work with them that will prove their worth but they all seem to be on the right track. This is coming from someone who owns a Wii and a 360 with a Kinect on preorder from Amazon and intends on getting a PS3 (probably in a Move bundle) in the near future (after I get a new laptop, which is much more desperately needed)
Must. Resist. Trading. In. 120. GB. PS3.
@VetteDude
Why? Just slap a phatty HDD in that bad boy and get yourself the standalone move package.
@VetteDude
R3SIST.
Resistance 3 coming 2011.
:D
@VetteDude - you do realize you can get a 500GB hard driver for like $60 now days. What would be the point of trading it in?
@VetteDude
Yeah you can get a 500GB Scorpio blue, which runs at 5400 RPM, or a Scorpio Black, which runs at 7200 RPM for under $60.
I bought the latter a year and a half ago, and so far I have more than enough space.
Back up your data to an external source, then it literally takes two minutes to put the new drive in. Once you boot up the PS3 with the new drive it'll install the latest firmware it has available, then you can restore your data.
Of course, backing up all your data, and restoring it back into your new drive might take a couple of hours.
@tikigawd
I dont get it... Who has THAT much stored on their PS3?! Whenever I fill up my 60 GB I just delete old demos that I'm not playing anymore.
What are you people putting on these things?
i wish apple made a gaming console
@zingo01 Really? Like Apple has ANYTHING to do with this post.
@zingo01 why?
@therodt
I already have one. It's called the iBox and it's WAY better then the other consoles like the XBox... Mine came with the tortured soul of a serial killer:

@zingo01
I wish trolls didn't exist.
@zingo01
Me too, so I could laugh at another iDiotic device.
@zingo01 They already tried to make a gaming console and it failed.
@therodt because in reality a console is just a cpu with a specific GUI and controllers. The other major players in cpus already make consoles MICROSOFT xbox, SONY Playstation. It could be be cloud based so you just dload the games and it would already sync wireless to itunes. I just like competition and Apple would make a big splash with there cult like following....I'm not an apple fanboy I don't even like Apple eventhough they pay bills. I just think the more the players in that market the more it would push the other devices
@zingo01 they did and it failed miserably
@VetteDude apple doesnt have anything to do with it EXCEPT I like when companies compete and Apple would throw a wrench in the current gaming platforms plans because so many people would automatically follow because of there brand name
no navigator in the bundle so we will just use the controller?
@htd
also doesn't Sports Champions need 2 move controllers? from the demo video I saw, some of the sports like archery and Gladiator Duel need 1 move controller in each hand
@ChrisSsk
Is optional... Sport Champions lets you use 1 controller...
If the wand vibrates it's going to be very popular with the ladies.
@admlshake
I think it will have rumble....which is the same thing right??
@admlshake - I'm 12 and am confused by your comment.
@ai3rocks57 Go ask your daddy
@VetteDude - I asked him and he said "when Duke Nukem Forever is in his hands"
