Deezer launches on Windows 8, streams music with Charms and Snaps (video)

Deezer has had an obsession with new apps lately, redesigning its Android app and kicking off its mini-app platform on mobile devices. It's only fair that Windows 8 users get to join in with a new Deezer app of their own. The software offers the same mix of curated and on-demand streaming music as elsewhere, with a few accommodations for Microsoft's universe: listeners can use Charms to search or share their music, and multitaskers can rely on Snap to keep an eye on their tracks. Early Windows 8 adopters have free, ad-backed access to music for up to a full year, which is as good as incentive as any to give the app a whirl if they live in a Deezer-friendly territory.

Deezer launches eye-catching new app for Windows 8, with exclusive features and slick new interface

Wednesday 17th April: Leading music streaming service Deezer has launched its brand new app for Windows 8, with a fresh interface and a host of unique features. Music fans using Windows 8 devices in more than 180 countries can enjoy unlimited ad-supported access to Deezer's 20 million song catalogue at no cost, for up to a year.

Deezer wants to give music lovers a seamless and engaging experience that will put the value back into music, and the Deezer app for Windows 8 is designed to do just that. The touch-enabled interface offers a fantastic user experience, allowing music fans to customise their Deezer home page around their favourite artists and tracks. It looks good too - Deezer is designed to fit seamlessly into the fast and fluid user interface in Windows 8.

Deezer fans using Windows 8 will have the same access to their favourite tracks, the same carefully curated content from our dedicated editorial teams and the same opportunity to discover fresh new artists, while also enjoying a series of brand new features specific to Windows 8.

Deezer knows that people don't just want to do one thing at a time when online, which led to Deezer's support for Snap. Snapping the Deezer app for Windows 8 allows people to continue browsing the internet or reading their emails, while still having direct access to their Deezer playlists and core controls. The app enables fans to share their favourite music across a range of social networks, using the Windows 8 Share charm, and also works with the Windows 8 Search charm.

Deezer's Alexandre Croiseaux, VP Product said:

"Windows 8 offers a beautiful new way to explore your favourite music. At Deezer, our ultimate goal is to give fans the best possible experience when discovering and listening to the music they love. The new Windows Store app is another important step forward in this journey."

Microsoft's John Richards, senior director of Windows App Marketing, said:

"We're excited to welcome Deezer to Windows 8. Not only will music lovers on Windows 8 enjoy an offer of unlimited ad-supported music at no cost from Deezer, but they can interact with the app in a uniquely engaging way, through features like Snap, Search and Share."
