Now, the outfit's quietly unveiled a roadmap that's got more than a handful of noteworthy slabs in sight. The company plans on launching a variety of Tegra 3-packing slates dubbed SMB-B1023, including a 7, 9.7 and 10.1-inch version, all of which are said to be sporting ICS. Furthermore, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Malata/">Malata</a> plans to rollout port-heavy variants of the aforementioned that'll be rocking USB, mini-USB and card reader ports, though these won't be tasting any <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a>. While tabs are obviously the main focus, the company's also planning to bring along a 5-inch handset blessed with Gingerbread to compete with the likes of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/atandt-galaxy-note-review/">Galaxy Note</a> or that shiny new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/19/lg-optimus-vu-5-inch-4x3-mwc-2012/">LG Optimus Vu</a>. Let's hope Malata makes a MWC appearance so we can give some of these our full hands-on treatment.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/malata-2012-2013-tablet-roadmap/">Malata's 2012 / 2013 roadmap reveals a very tablet-friendly future</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 18:36:00 EDT. But, if those apps <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/select-ps-vita-apps-hit-the-us-playstation-store-netflix-liv/?a_dgi=aolshare_twitter">we told you about earlier</a> weren't enough to fulfill your entertainment needs, you'll be happy to know there could be more in stock for you. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/scea/">SCEA</a> Senior VP Guy Longworth may have spilled the beans when he told <em>The Hollywood Reporter</em> "we have a partnership with Netflix and Hulu; this is a new way for them to distribute content." An interesting statement given the fact there's no Hulu app available now that Vita has launched. Good news is, the previously unknown hook-up indicates we may be be able to catch some episodes of <em>Gossip Girl</em> at some point in the future on our monstrous <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/playstation-vita-review/">quad-core handheld</a>.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/hulu-may-be-headed-to-playstation-vita/">SCEA Senior VP hints Hulu may be headed to PS Vita</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 18:13:00 EDT. Now, recent intel acquired by the folks at <em>SmartHouse</em> suggests that the Korean outfit's about to dive into deeper waters, after reportedly striking a deal in Australia. The pact, that's yet to become official, would give the manufacturer access to the plethora of films available from your favorite <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/blockbuster/">blue-and-yellow</a> video store, which could then be streamed to your beloved Galaxy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/30/atandt-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/">handset</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/21/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-0-plus-review/">Tab</a>, as well as Sammy-branded <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/smarttv,samsung">Smart TVs</a>, Blu-ray players and laptops. Furthermore, the report claims Samsung's got a friendly billing system in the works that'd allow easy access to the content on your devices. It's expected to hit US and Euro shores "as early as September." Until then you'll have to stick with the good ol' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/06/redbox-snatches-up-ncrs-entertainment-division-future-of-block/">Redbox kiosks</a>.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/21/samsung-blockbuster-video-streaming-deal/">Samsung / Blockbuster reportedly sign streaming deal in Oz, US and Europe next?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 18:31:00 EDT. A set of photos from Russian site <em>hi-tech@mail</em> reveals what could be in store from the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/huawei/">Chinese outfit</a> at MWC 2012 (you know we'll be there), though the lack of full-body pics makes us question whether it's in fact the 10-inch tab it claims to be. Aside from the questionable size, we do see a tour around its purported metal casing, which is very reminiscent of that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/29/seven-inch-huawei-tablet-headed-to-t-mobile-priced-at-200-on-c/">T-Mobile-bound MediaPad</a> we showed you last year. Allegedly, the tablet will come sporting an 8-megapixel rear shooter, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> and will be priced at about 20,000 Russian Rubles (or around $670). Now, if a set of screenies is to be believed, we have a quick glimpse into what we can expect once its promised Q2 outing comes around -- at least for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/verizon">Big Red's</a> RAZR variants. At first glance, the alleged <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> build isn't much different than what you'd see in its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">native state</a>. That said, there are bits that would make it easy for any connoisseur to tell 'em apart, including: different icons, dialer and drop-down menu, as well as a redesigned shooter UI. Unfortunately there's no word as to when it'll legitimately hit the masses, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/07/motorola-droid-razr-review/"><em>all</em></a> you <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-review/">RAZR</a> fans can see more screenshots of what Motorola may have in store at the source below.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/20/droid-razr-ice-cream-sandwich-screenshots/">Droid RAZR ICS screenshots leaked, could this be the next Blur?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 20 Feb 2012 19:27:00 EDT. That near-grand amount will get you Intel's Core i5-2476m CPU and HD3000 graphics, 4GB of RAM, a hybrid drive (32GB SSD mixed with 500GB HDD), as well as a Premium copy of Windows 7. More importantly, the machine wouldn't gracefully fall under the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ultrabook/">"Ultra" category</a> if it wasn't flaunting a relatively slim form factor, in which it tightly squeezes through the standards at 0.7-inches in thickness. It's also about half a pound heavier than its pricier, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/13/lenovo-ideapad-u300s-review/">better specced sibling</a>. That's what ASUS has been feeding those of you who choose to brazenly call the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/">OG Transformer</a> your slate of preference. In the past couple of months we were told to expect the ICS refresh in "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/12/ice-cream-sandwich-to-hit-eee-pad-transformer-in-february-says/">early February</a>," before quickly slipping <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/21/ice-cream-sandwich-update-for-original-transformer-coming/">a couple of weeks</a>. Needless to say, that time has passed and although the update was said to be under the G-Men microscope <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/16/asus-eee-pad-transformers-ics-update-currently-awaiting-google/">waiting for approval</a>, ASUS is bearing bad news again. Via its Singapore Facebook page, the outfit <em>now</em> says the TF101 tab will be ready to taste the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">latest Android goodie</a> "within the Feb / March 2012 period." Naturally, customers aren't taking the news lightly and have taken the <strike>likes</strike> complaints to the status update. The outfit's newest addition to its tablet lineup is simply dubbed 8b G2, honoring its 8-inch, 800 x 600, TFT display. Coming in what some could consider "last year's specs," the slate's packing a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, a front-facing shooter, microSD slot for extra storage (4 or 8GB built-in) and a predictably outdated piece of Gingerbread. Presumably price will be its best asset -- Arnova hasn't given us a figure but, if its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/26/archos-arnova-8-and-10-tablets-hit-the-bargain-bin-video/">predecessor</a> is a telling sign, we can't imagine you'd part ways with more than 200 bucks.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/19/arnova-launches-8b-g2-android-tablet/">Arnova launches 8b G2 slate, hopes to keep it cheap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 19 Feb 2012 16:13:00 EDT. Not long after a quick debut <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/24/lg-fantasy-windows-phone-meets-mr-blurrycam-for-the-first-time/">with Mr. Blurrycam</a>, the Windows Phone handset has landed a short, poorly lit cameo in someone else's amateur film. Which is to say, the video doesn't reveal anything exciting. Aside from a few swipes and taps around <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/27/windows-phone-7-5-mango-review/">the OS</a>, we also get a quick peek at the device's rear, which is rocking an unmistakable "Not For Sale" sticker, and appears to have a matte finish. That purported 4-inch screen is allegedly of IPS quality, and is said to be paired with a 1GHz CPU, 8GB of internal storage and an NFC chip. The only thing certain about all these early appearances is that LG's fantasies are about to become a reality (sorry, guys).</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/17/lg-fantasy-miracle-windows-phone-appears-in-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LG Fantasy Windows Phone appears on video, keeps us guessing</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/17/lg-fantasy-miracle-windows-phone-appears-in-video/">LG Fantasy Windows Phone appears on video, keeps us guessing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 17 Feb 2012 20:28:00 EDT. According to crunched numbers from Asymco, between its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iphone/">iPhone</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ipad/">iPad</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ipod%20touch/">iPod touch</a>, the Cupertino outfit sold some 156 million iOS devices in 2011, marking a grand total of 316 million in the mobile OS' short history. What's most interesting here, however, is the fact that last year's digits alone have completely blown past the 122 million units daddy Mac has managed in its 28 years of existence. It's no wonder the company borrowed a few tricks from iOS for its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/16/apple-os-x-mountain-lion-10-8-in-depth-preview/">latest desktop operating system</a>.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/17/visualized-ios-2011-sales-outsells-28-years-of-mac/">Visualized: iOS 2011 sales smoke 28 years of Mac</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 17 Feb 2012 14:40:00 EDT. The good news is, we may have a <em>clearer</em> view of when to expect the waves to start flowing. During yesterday's Q4 earnings call, CEO Erik Prusch said his company plans on rolling out its <a href="http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/10/20/clearwires-first-lte-trial-results-are-in-90mbps-down-30mbps/">LTE tides</a> by June of next year, with the help of 5,000 wave sites around the US and a "longer-term" plan of adding about 3,000 more. According to <em>Forbes</em>, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mlg/">Major League Gaming</a> circuit has seen tremendous demand for its streaming services during tournaments, which up until now could be enjoyed in low-res without taking a hit on your wallet. However, that success is pushing the org to experiment with a different, pricier content model. During the upcoming Winter Arena tourny, those of you who want to watch the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/29/mad-catz-mlg-pro-circuit-controller-review-ps3/">Mad Catz-sporting</a> pros will have to pay 20 bucks or $15 if you're already rockin' a gold membership. While the move won't be permanent, it could indeed be a sign of things to come. Do you plan to shell over some cash or sit this round out on the bench? Let us know in the comments below.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/major-league-gaming-streaming-fees-at-winter-arena/">MLG tinkering with streaming fees during Winter Arena tourny</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 18:01:00 EDT. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> party is a fairly exclusive affair, with HTC restricting admission to those of you living in the EU and rockin' a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/27/htc-sensation-review/">Sensation</a> or its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/13/htc-sensation-xe-with-beats-audio-review/">Beats-sporting XE</a> variant. The outfit's given no further deets as to how it'll spread the goods -- and to how many more handsets -- or if the teaser will ever make its way to US-based folks. Sporting the same 832MHz CPU as its siblings, as well as a 3.5-inch display, 1650mAh battery and GSM / CDMA capabilities, the newcomer isn't much more powerful, but at least offers more screen real estate and an extra pinch of juice to get you through the day. All members of the family are rockin' Gingerbread and will start off at around $212 for the Y Duos and its Pro variant. As for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/15/samsung-galaxy-ace-gio-fit-and-mini-gather-for-one-mega-hands/">Ace</a>, a mere $324 will let you unleash its GSM / CDMA powers.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/samsung-introduces-galaxy-duos-in-india/">Samsung intros trifecta of Galaxy Duos in India, new Ace included</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 14 Feb 2012 21:11:00 EDT. If you fancy yourself a power user, HP's got a "world's first" trick up its sleeve that might lure you in. Earlier today, the Palo Alto outfit took the wraps off its newest <a href="http://engadget.search.aol.com/search?q=all-in-one&amp;invocationType=wl-gadget">all-in-one</a>, the HP Z1. This workstation is a mere distant cousin to HP's consumer-focused <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/07/hp-announces-an-avalanche-of-all-in-ones-slimmed-down-touchsmar/">Omni and TouchSmart</a> lines -- not that that's a bad thing. The machine comes sporting a 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, IPS display, the back of which snaps open for easy access when making hardware tweaks and, if you wisely choose to take the premium road, you could be walking out with a quad-core Intel Xeon CPU and NVIDIA Quadro graphics, as well as your choice of a 160GB or 300GB SSD for storage. Needless to say, it all depends on how much dough you're willing to part with. HP says the Z1 is expected to ship around April, with the lowest-end model starting at $1,899. It'll be a while before you can get your hands on one, but in the meantime you can keep yourself entertained by checking out those glossy press shots below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/">HP Z1 press shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819842"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1four_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819843"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1one_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819844"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1six_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1three_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819846"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1two_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/hp-unveils-z1-all-in-one-workstation/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HP unveils Z1 all-in-one workstation: 27-inch IPS display, starts at $1,899</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/hp-unveils-z1-all-in-one-workstation/">HP unveils Z1 all-in-one workstation: 27-inch IPS display, starts at $1,899</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 14 Feb 2012 16:16:00 EDT. Just as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/30/samsung-galaxy-note-lte-rogers-bell-telus-canada-release-date/">promised</a>, the large beast that is Samsung's don't-call-it-a-tablet handset has hit available status in the Land of the Maple Leaf. Canadian carriers Bell and Telus have the Galaxy Note up for grabs now on their respective sites at the cost of $199 with a whopping three-year contract, while anything's yet to pop up on Rogers' page (we'll let you know as soon as it does). The launch comes a few days ahead of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/30/samsung-galaxy-note-att/">expected release</a> on US shores, where it'll require less of a commitment but carry a heavier price tag. Still pondering if the galactic 5.3-inch device is the right fit for you? Huawei's just announced its Research and Development squad -- in which it invested about $3.6 billion dollars last year -- is setting up shop in Silicon Valley in a move that could certainly be seen as an effort to rub elbows with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SiliconValley/">big players</a> this side of the pond. According to the <em>Dallas Business Journa</em>l, the company piled up $30 billion in sales last year, and while the new 600-plus human R&amp;D operation will be calling California home, Huawei's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/21/huawei-honor-review/">Honorary</a> headquarters won't be moving away from the state where "everything's bigger" anytime soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/huawei-research-and-development-headquarters-in-silicon-valley/">Huawei R&amp;D department gets new home, sets up shop in Silicon Valley</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 14 Feb 2012 03:32:00 EDT. Photo Barbie's carrying a 5-megapixel camera between her shoulder blades and a thumb-size LCD in her synthetic guts. She's got 15 built-in effects to give your pics a little sweet spice too. Speaking of, the $50 Barbie holds up to 100 shots and is powered by a rechargeable battery that should give you enough juice to get through a few sessions. Barbie was kind enough to join our photoshoot, so hit up the gallery below to check out the rest of the shots.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/barbie-cam/">Barbie gets a camera implant to snap photos in style, we go hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/barbie-cam/#4810848"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/img3068_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/barbie-cam/#4810849"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/img3069_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/barbie-cam/#4810850"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/img3071_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/barbie-cam/#4810851"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/img3072_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/barbie-cam/#4810852"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/img3074_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <em>Terrence O'Brien contributed to this report.</em></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/10/barbie-gets-a-camera-implant-to-snap-photos-in-style-we-go-hand/">Barbie gets a camera implant to snap photos in style, we go hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 10 Feb 2012 17:28:00 EDT. Though it's certainly taken the longer road, its 4G waves are hitting several more markets on launch day in comparison to Rogers' solo-city debut. Among the selected 14 markets for the rollout are major cities such as Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Waterloo, Ottawa and Montreal. In the process, the carrier's also managed to stamp a release date on that<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/30/samsung-galaxy-note-lte-rogers-bell-telus-canada-release-date/"> LTE Note</a>, which will arrive just in time for Valentine's Day. That said, it won't be the only Samsung Galaxy device on Telus' 4G lineup, the carrier's also bringing along the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/10/samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-review/">Tab 8.9,</a> as well as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/04/lg-optimus-lte-now-official-high-speed-data-alongside-a-high-de/">LG Optimus</a> -- all of which will be up for grabs on on February 10th. These "3D Library" kiosks, as the manufacturer is simply dubbing 'em, will let Aussies checkout a variety of Sony's 3D-capable products at no cost and for up to three days. Folks itching to create some 3D content for free can choose from the Handycam HDR-TD10, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/20/sony-alpha-nex-c3-review/">NEX C3</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/29/sony-bloggie-3d-now-available-for-aspiring-james-camerons-everyw/">Bloggie</a> cameras. The program is underway now, so all you Australians willing to take Sony up on its offer can hit up the PR below to find the nearest freeloading location.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/09/sony-launches-3d-library-loan-program-in-australia/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony's 3D Library lets Aussies borrow products free of charge</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/09/sony-launches-3d-library-loan-program-in-australia/">Sony's 3D Library lets Aussies borrow products free of charge</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 09 Feb 2012 02:33:00 EDT. Tweetbot 2.0 not only sees the addition of a few new traits and a design refresh, but it's also on the receiving end of some welcomed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/09/ipad-2-review/">iPad</a> compatibility (iOS 5 only). Though, it's worth mentioning the app isn't universal -- so you'll have to cough up three bucks for the slate variant, even if you've already got the iPhone edition. Amongst the new goodies is a renovated timeline view with pic thumbnails, an optional New Tweets bar, auto-refresh, and a one-tap system for links. A whopping $1,399 (with an instant discount courtesy of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HP/">Meg Whitman &amp; Co.</a>) will get you the entry level model. If that's indeed the route you're willing to take, you can be walking out with Intel's Core i5-2467M processor and HD Graphics 3000, as well as NFC capabilities, a 128GB SSD, 4GB of memory and a 14-inch <strike>BrightView Infinity LED (1366 x 768)</strike> 1600 x 900 Radiance display. Needless to say, if you feel like this isn't quite up to par with your standards, you can head over to the source and customize one to your heart's content. Meanwhile, you can check out our own preview of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/hp-envy-14-spectre-announced/">Envy 14 Spectre</a> to decide if it's the right fit for you.<br /> <br /> <strong>Update: </strong>Looks like HP's product page went live with a typo. As reported when the Spectre was first announced, it will come standard with a 1600 x 900 Radiance display, not a 1366 x 768 BrightView Infinity LED screen. HP has since updated its page accordingly.</div><div></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/08/hp-envy-14-spectre-available-now/">HP Envy 14 Spectre available now, starts at $1,399</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 08 Feb 2012 11:53:00 EDT. The new snapper not only sees a minimal increment on its stage name, SZ-31MR, but it also keeps the same 16-megapixel backlit sensor as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/02/olympus-sz-30mr-and-sz-20-cameras-record-1080p-video-tough-tg-8/">its predecessor</a>, as well as an identical 24x (25-600mm) optical zoom. Though, the newcomer does get a fresh image processor, making the jump from a TruePic III to a TruePic V, thus bringing along better low-light performance, scene enhancements and keeping high-quality shots while using the zoom feature. Amongst other traits, the device is packing a 3-inch (920,000-dot) LCD, 6400 ISO and 1080p video capture at 30fps. Olympus is also implementing a new technology dubbed iHS (Intelligent, High-Sensitivity and High-Speed), which the company claims will produce sharper and more vivid images. All this can be yours for a mere $399 this April when it's released, but if you want to know more before parting with that cash, check the pic gallery below and the PR after the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-sz-31mr/">Olympus SZ-31MR</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-sz-31mr/#4797242"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx101eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-sz-31mr/#4797243"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx102eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-sz-31mr/#4797244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx103eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-sz-31mr/#4797245"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx104eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-sz-31mr/#4797246"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx105eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/olympus-unveils-sz-31mr-ihs-digital-camera/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Olympus unveils SZ-31MR camera: 16 megapixels, 24x optical zoom</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/olympus-unveils-sz-31mr-ihs-digital-camera/">Olympus unveils SZ-31MR camera: 16 megapixels, 24x optical zoom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 07 Feb 2012 21:00:00 EDT. That's why it's taking the wraps off its TG-820. The newest addition to the Tough lineup brings along predictable traits for a shooter of its kind, such as being waterproof up to 33 feet, shockproof, freezeproof and crushproof. All the "proofs" aren't the only set of features present amongst its offerings, the Tough TG-820 comes sporting a 12-megapixel, back-side illuminated CMOS sensor (compared to the 14-megapixel CCD on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/02/olympus-sz-30mr-and-sz-20-cameras-record-1080p-video-tough-tg-8/">its predecessor</a>), 1080p video recording capabilities, as well as a 5X optical and 4X digital zoom. Also included in the package is a 3-inch, HyperCrystal LCD, plus a plethora of shooting modes to choose from, some of which include: Panorama, Sensor-shift IS, Backlight HDR and a Pet mode. Olympus' new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/rugged/">rugged</a> shooter will hit shelves next month for $299, in the meantime you can pick which color best suits you by checking out the press shots below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-tg-820/">Olympus TG-820</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-tg-820/#4797257"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx101eng-1328536396_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-tg-820/#4797258"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx102eng-1328536397_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-tg-820/#4797259"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx103eng-1328536397_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-tg-820/#4797260"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx104eng-1328536398_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/olympus-tg-820/#4797261"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/panasonicgx105eng-1328536398_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/olympus-introduces-tough-tg-820-ihs-digital-camera/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Olympus updates its Tough lineup, intros TG-820 ruggedized shooter</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/olympus-introduces-tough-tg-820-ihs-digital-camera/">Olympus updates its Tough lineup, intros TG-820 ruggedized shooter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 07 Feb 2012 21:00:00 EDT. And while its macho design hasn't changed much, the newcomers usher in a host of predictable spec bumps. The new all-terrain shooters are sporting a 16-megapixel, back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 1080p (30fps) movie mode, micro-HDMI for when you feel like sharing your adventures and a 3-inch, 460,000 -dot LCD to help you frame your shots. Of course, this wouldn't fall under the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/rugged/">rugged category</a> if it couldn't handle anything you threw at it, which is why any WG-2 is waterproof up to 40 feet, shock-resistant and dustproof. If you're thinking about taking one of these on the trails with you, be ready to unleash around $350 for the unguided model or about $50 more for a GPS-enabled number. Neither will be available until March, so you'll have to wait a while, but in the meantime we've got the full PR below along with some press shots. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pentax-optio-w-g2/">Pentax Optio WG-2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pentax-optio-w-g2/#4801351"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/optiowg-2red3qleftviewlightsonsm_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pentax-optio-w-g2/#4801352"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/optiowg-2redfronttopviewlightsontranspbckgrndsm_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pentax-optio-w-g2/#4801353"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/optiowg-2redleftsideviewsm_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pentax-optio-w-g2/#4801354"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/optiowg-2redrightsideviewsm_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pentax-optio-w-g2/#4801355"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/optiowg-2redtopviewsm_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/pentax-introduces-wg-2-and-wg-2-gps-cameras/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pentax refreshes its rugged camera lineup with the Optio WG-2 series</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/pentax-introduces-wg-2-and-wg-2-gps-cameras/">Pentax refreshes its rugged camera lineup with the Optio WG-2 series</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 07 Feb 2012 17:00:00 EDT. Now, <em>43 Rumors</em> is keeping the intel flowing with tidbits it received from a "super European source." The fresh bits suggest the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/05/olympus-om-d-e-m5-shots-orchestrally-maneuvering-out-of-the-dark/">E-M5</a> could sport a "super fast" autofocus and 3D tracking system, an external "weather-sealed" GN10 flash and additional filters. And, if rumors are to be believed, you'll be able to see the effects of the image stabilization through the electronic viewfinder. Not only will the app experience the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> treatment for the first time (happy, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/16/verizon-galaxy-nexus-review/">GNex</a> owners?), but it's also gotten a new look that's easier on the eyes. Furthermore, Rdio added the ability to view user profiles, and also enhanced the app's search capabilities. Amongst the rest of the improvements -- some of which are being ported from the desktop client -- are traits like top charts, recommendations and new releases. You can grab the free update now if you're a current subscriber, otherwise you'll have to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/06/rdio-launches-free-non-ad-supported-streaming-for-us-users-met/">jump on board</a> before you can take the app for a spin.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/06/rdio-android-app-update-adds-ics-support-new-design/">Rdio Android app gets a refresh, adds ICS support and new design</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 06 Feb 2012 21:54:00 EDT. Last night's Super Bowl made room for over 50 commercials during its air time, some of which included the likes of Samsung's whopping <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">Galaxy Note</a>, the usual <a href="http://engadget.search.aol.com/search?q=go+daddy&amp;invocationType=wl-gadget">Go Daddy</a> domain teasers, a bit of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/BestBuy/">Best Buy</a> "innovation" and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Hulu+plus/">Hulu Plus</a> Mushy Mush campaign, just to mention a few. Needless to say, we put together a small collection of some we believe you might enjoy, so take a virtual jump past the break to catch the big-ticket advertising in action. Perhaps the company's latest partnership could induce a rapid change of heart. The streaming service has paired up with eyeIO in hopes of keeping bandwidth usage during streams to a minimum, which they claim won't affect the content's overall quality. While the joint venture just became official, the startup's "ultra-low-bandwidth" encoding technology -- that<span style="font-style: italic;"> allegedly</span><em> </em>can reduce usage on a 720p HD stream by more than 50 percent -- began its testing phase on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/netflix/">streaming-giant's</a> offerings months ago. Although eyeIO's service has already been implemented by Netflix, it's worth mentioning this isn't an exclusive deal, thus it's possible for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/23/amazon-boosts-prime-instant-video-streaming-with-more-than-1-000/">its competition</a> to jump on the bandwidth conservation bandwagon in the future. More importantly, we're interested to find out if <em>you</em> have noticed any difference in your streams lately, so drop us a line in the comments below.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/03/netflix-teams-with-eyeio-to-lower-bandwidth-usage/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Netflix teams with eyeIO to lower bandwidth use on movie night</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/03/netflix-teams-with-eyeio-to-lower-bandwidth-usage/">Netflix teams with eyeIO to lower bandwidth use on movie night</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Feb 2012 21:44:00 EDT. Fortunately for those of you who like noise cancellation and a flush bank account, Creative's just taken the wraps off its $99 headset that'll do the trick. The HN-900 offers great features -- aside from the low price tag -- such as 40-hours of active <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/noise+canceling/">noise canceling</a> powered by some AAA juice (for the times when you feel like ignoring the world), 40mm Neodymium drivers, and a built-in microphone to help with making and answering calls, just to highlight a few. Naturally, with such a stout feature set and low price, the headphones are selling like hotcakes and are currently out of stock. That said, you can still head over to the source to check out the rest of the deets and be one of the first in line once the second batch hits <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/creative/">Creative's</a> virtual shelves.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/03/creative-hn-900-noise-canceling-headphones/">Creative pumps out $99 HN-900 noise-canceling headphones</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Feb 2012 13:12:00 EDT. Taiwanese site <em>NCCC</em> claims to have come across what could be a followup to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-review/">Transformer Prime</a>. The 10.1-inch slate raised the leak alarms when a <em>QuieTek </em>certification document revealed its "TF300T" codename, which is numerically higher than its Transformer brethren, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/">OG (TF101)</a> and Prime (TF201). Furthermore, there are no rumored specs, and aside from the blood-like color on the tablet's back -- there isn't much to tell it apart from its quad-core sibling. We'll keep you in the loop if more juicy info fills our glass, in the meantime you can head over to the source for some additional eye-candy.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/02/asus-tf300t-tablet-shows-up-in-leaked-pictures/">ASUS 'TF300T' slate makes an appearance, could be the next Transformer?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 02 Feb 2012 14:32:00 EDT. Simply dubbed "Be Bold," the ad campaign focuses <em>boldly</em> on the famed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bbm/">BlackBerry Messenger</a>, as well as the productivity aspects found in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/16/blackberry-bold-9930-review/">9900</a>. Research in Motion is also taking a swing at its competitors with expressions like "I'm about action, not distraction" and "we need tools, not toys." At this point, the Canadian manufacturer <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/23/rim-stock-falls-ceo-transition/">will take what it can get</a>, thus it shouldn't come as a surprise that it's showing off what some consider its best traits. Crackle and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cinemanow/">CinemaNow</a> are joining the likes of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/20/microsoft-rolls-out-more-new-xbox-360-apps-including-ufc-and-vud/">Vudu and UFC</a> as part of the latest additions to the Xbox app locker. Both apps are available now for those of us in the States, and while CinemaNow won't be heading elsewhere, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/crackle/">Sony's Crackle</a> is hitting three other markets: Australia, Canada and United Kingdom. There's no more info on when -- or if -- both apps will make way into more countries, but Microsoft did say that it'll "continue to enhance and expand" its Xbox Live offerings. We know you're eager to check out some <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/godzilla/">Godzilla</a> collections, so power on that console, head to the apps section and let the crackles set you free.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/01/xbox-360-crackle-cinemanow-apps-available-now/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox 360 adds Crackle and CinemaNow to list of up and running apps</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/01/xbox-360-crackle-cinemanow-apps-available-now/">Xbox 360 adds Crackle and CinemaNow to list of up and running apps</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 01 Feb 2012 00:29:00 EDT. In this particular case, it's the company's networking and backup goods -- also known as Airport Express, Extreme and Time Capsule -- that are on the receiving end of the virtual enhancements. The 802.11n stations are getting a fix that solves "an issue with wireless performance," while the capsule is seeing some much needed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/icloud/">iCloud </a>support. Additional Apple cloud integration doesn't stop there, as you'll also be able to remotely access your Airport disk. Though, it's worth mentioning that in order to take full advantage you'll have to update your Airport Utility to the latest version (6.0). That means you'll also need <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/20/apple-os-x-lion-10-7-review/">Lion</a>, so those of you keepin' your OS X old school with Snow Leopard will be out of luck on using <em>some</em> of the new features. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/19/intel-acquires-mcafee-for-7-68-billion/">Intel-owned</a> security connoisseur has just introduced its refreshed apps, designed to protect Android handsets and slates, along with BlackBerry and Symbian smartphones. All users can take advantage of features such as Complete Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Anti-phishing Protection, Call and SMS Filtering, while Android owners can also try out App Protection, which is said to interpret "how apps are accessing and possibly transmitting personal data," in order to keep your privacy under control. If you've been a paranoid -- <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/malware,@cellphones">or smart</a> -- user since the first release, then the update will come at no cost, while those of you looking to jump aboard the secured ship for the first time will need to fork over the $29.99 subscription fee. You'll find all the details you need in the press release just past the break.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/mcafee-updates-mobile-security-to-2-0-/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>McAfee updates Mobile Security to 2.0, keeps you protected on the go (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/mcafee-updates-mobile-security-to-2-0-/">McAfee updates Mobile Security to 2.0, keeps you protected on the go (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 31 Jan 2012 08:40:00 EDT. According to <em>PC World</em>, Lenovo has said that it plans on bringing the latest and greatest from the Android platform to its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/29/thinkpad-tablet-review/">ThinkPad Tablet</a> sometime during Q2 of this year. As we've become accustomed to of late, Lenovo joins other fellow manufacturers on the pledge to update its devices to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">ICS</a>.
