The Syndicate Wars inspired Kickstarter project Satellite Reign has concluded with £461,333 ($611,820) donated by 15,029 backers. The real-time strategy game doesn't just derive its inspiration from Syndicate Wars, but also has one of its lead designers: Mike Diskett. In addition, £14,170 ($21,800) has been donated through the developer's separate PayPal program, which is still open to donations. The game is scheduled to cyberpunk us on PC, Mac and Linux, with an alpha access planned for sometime next year.

Syndicate Wars spiritual successor Satellite Reign passed its Kickstarter goal this week, with around 12,000 backers raising the requisite £350,000 (roughly $535K) with four days to spare. That means the real-time strategy game is confirmed for Steam and GOG on PC, Mac, and Linux. December 2014 is the estimated release window on the game's Kickstarter page. Satellite Reign puts players in charge of four-man team of agents, fighting to seize control of an open-world cyberpunk city. The combat is class-based, with each agent using distinctly different abilities. As for the metropolis, developer 5 Lives claims "it actually functions like a city," with crowds moving around it by day, and criminals fighting over it at night. Now 5 Lives will set its cyber-scopes on stretch goals; the first one for Syndicate series composer Russell Shaw's involvement at £380K has almost already been achieved. The £400K goal for several European language localizations is realistic, but it'll take some stretch to reach the environmental destruction goal, which breaks at £440K.

As expected, real-time strategy game Satellite Reign recently began its Kickstarter project, and will need £350,000 ($532,455) by July 28 to become a reality. Satellite Reign is a real-time strategy game that draws inspiration from Syndicate Wars, another tactical game developed in 1996 for PlayStation and DOS by 5 Lives lead Mike Diskett. The project boasts emergent gameplay within a "living metropolis," along with tactical combat driven by different character classes, weapons and augmentations. Satellite Reign's crowdfunding campaign is already off to a great start, as it has raised £95,474 ($145,244) thanks to 3,355 backers so far. The developer is looking to bring the game to Steam and GOG for PC, Mac and Linux, with DRM-free options being made available to all backers.

Five Lives Studios is teasing a Kickstarter project for something called Satellite Reign – and all signs point to a game inspired by Syndicate Wars. The Kickstarter is scheduled for June, with a countdown on the Satellite Reign site. The teaser video reads, "In 1996, this man –" referring to Syndicate Wars lead Mike Diskett, it would seem "– created a Bullfrog masterpiece. In 2013, with your help, we will redefine the genre." The original Syndicate Wars launched for the PlayStation and DOS in October 1996 as a real-time tactics game. Syndicate got an FPS reboot from Starbreeze Studios and EA in February 2012.
