While he's been in the periphery of the game since the start of the current season, Deadpool is finally making his way to Fortnite proper. If you purchased this season's battle pass, you can obtain the skin by finding the mercenary's two hidden pistols (hint: look in the menus). After finding the weapons, head to a phone booth on the island to change outfits.

'Fortnite' Chapter 2 Season 2 is all about secret agents and Deadpool

Fortnite might be one of the biggest games in the world, but the battle royale shooter has certainly had its problems over the past few months. Thanks to a mix of the Christmas holidays, the introduction of a new game engine and various other development issues, Epic Games' main issue was that it was forced to delay the the second instalment of Chapter 2, leaving players to "enjoy" the longest season on record. Thankfully, that all changes today with the introduction of Season 2: Top Secret.

Netflix is pushing hard to stay relevant in the comic-based movie business, especially after Disney announced plans to shun the streaming service and make its own. Now, just a few months after Netflix's big acquisition of Mark Millar's comic publisher, Millarworld, the streaming company has landed a big splashy deal for Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld's Extreme Universe set of comic book characters.

'Deadpool' director hired for 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie

Deadpool and Sonic have a fair amount in common. They vanquish bad guys, protect innocent bystanders and talk with spades of attitude. With this in mind, it's no surprise to hear that Tim Miller, the director of the (good) Ryan Reynolds superhero movie, is turning his attention to the blue blur next. That's right, the out-of-nowhere "live-action and animation hybrid" movie that was announced back in February. He's stepping on as executive producer to help director Jeff Fowler and executive producer Neal H. Moritiz, who also works on the Fast and Furious franchise.

There's a lot to unpack this week, including the ongoing NHL and NBA playoffs and Drake taking over SNL. Of course, my favorite highlight is the arrival of Deadpool on Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray, following its record-setting digital download debut two weeks ago. Netflix will take its big leap into almost-live content this week, as it presents the first three episodes of Chelsea Handler's new talk show, starting on Thursday morning. Of course for gamers the big attractions are Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Doom. Look after the break to check out each day's highlights, including trailers and let us know what you think (or what we missed).

20th Century Fox will skip Comic-Con to avoid trailer leaks

One of Comic-Con's biggest draws is always the exclusive trailer screenings for upcoming superhero and science fiction flicks. But now more than ever, those teasers are being recorded and leaked online, much to the frustration of Hollywood studios. The situation is so bad that 20th Century Fox, according to TheWrap and the LA Times, has decided to pull out of this year's convention. That means no sneaky-peeks of upcoming projects like Wolverine (3?), Maze Runner: The Death Cure or Assassin's Creed.

'Deadpool' used way more CGI than you probably think it did

The folks behind last month's raucous Deadpool movie lied to you more than you probably could've imagined. That intro sequence that serves as a narrative framing device for practically the whole flick? Almost entirely composited together in post processing. As you'll see in the video below, during the opening car chase, even the merc with a mouth kicking the goon riding shotgun out of the Chevy SUV was a collection of polygons. But when an entire movie is as over the top as Deadpool, finding stunt performers who could withstand the level of abuse that's on display would probably be pretty difficult.

  • Twitter trademark turmoil forces Twitpic to shut down

    by

It's the end of an era, folks: Twitpic, one of the first sites that let users upload and share photos to Twitter, will go dark on September 25. Unlike other shuttered startups though, Twitpic hasn't run out of cash or been pushed out of the spotlight by fierce competitors. No, its demise is all thanks to some trademark turmoil initiated by the folks at Twitter who reached out to the Twitpic team a few weeks back. The social giant wanted the company (which at one point was valued at over $10 million) to give up its nearly 5 year old trademark application or face the prospect of being shut out of the Twitter ecosystem entirely. Rather than devote gobs of time and resources to proving his point, founder Noah Everett (sadly) decided to call it quits on the operation. Don't feel too bad for him, though: he's got another startup in the works called Pingly that basically aims to build a "better Gmail". We don't want to harp on a guy who's already down on his luck but... join the club, pal. In any case, you've still got time to download all of your stored photos from Twitpic -- just give those poor folks a little time to release the tool that'll let you do it.

Enjoy that Deadpool footage that leaked earlier this week? Well, that's not the only appearance The Merc With A Mouth made at San Diego Comic-Con. The Marvel Games panel revealed that our dear red friend will also be making an appearance in Marvel Puzzle Quest, the match-three battle game on iOS, Android and Steam. It sounds like neither puzzles nor quests are exactly Deadpool's thing, as the episode he appears in is titled "Deadpool vs. Marvel Puzzle Quest." Makes sense to us; about the only thing Deadpool enjoys more than slicing up bad guys and eating delicious chimichangas is breaking the fourth wall. Deadpool's debut episode is available now. Even the fourth wall isn't safe anymore in Zen Studio's upcoming pinball table featuring Deadpool, Marvel's Merc with a Mouth who was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in one of his finest superhero roles. In the Zen Pinball 2 table available next week, Deadpool's manic highs and emotion-mining lows will be portrayed by Nolan North, reprising the voice from the video game. What, Ryan Reynolds was too busy? Nobody understands Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool understands Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool is Ryan Reynolds. Yeah, yeah, that's what it is. [Image: Zen Studios]

  • Activision pulls several Marvel games from Steam, XBL, PSN

    by

Activision began the new year by removing several Marvel-licensed games from digital storefronts, including the six-months-young Deadpool. The departed Marvel assortment includes Spider-Man games Edge of Time, Shattered Dimensions, Friend or Foe, and Web of Shadows, as well as X-Men entries Destiny, Origins: Wolverine, and The Official Game. It's unclear what prompted the removal from Steam, Xbox Live and PSN, although it was in the works back on December 21, when it was noted on the Facebook page for The Amazing Spider-Man game. Curiously, The Amazing Spider-Man remains on the storefronts, and Activision is still publishing the follow-up tie-in for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Activision Community Manager Dan Amrich confirmed the removal yesterday, but he didn't provide a reason for the superhero games going up, up, and away. We've reached out to the publisher for more details. The expiration of a licensing agreement between Activision and Disney-owned Marvel is one possible explanation. Upon acquiring the comic book giant for $4 billion, Disney CEO Bob Iger noted his company was considering moving towards self-produced and published games in the coming years. "As these licensing deals expire we have the luxury of considering what is best for the company and the products," Iger said during a 2009 investors' call (via MCV). When Disney closed LucasArts last year, it then turned to EA with a multi-year exclusive agreement to license out Star Wars games.
