If you missed Katy Perry's four-day livestream back in June, tune into YouTube Red on October 4th. The subscription service will broadcast a full-length special showing behind-the-scenes footage from the pop star's Witness World Wide livestream event. It will also show highlights of what went down during those four days. Perry did fun interviews, danced with the infamous left shark of NFL halftime fame, talked about the controversies that surround her and held round-table discussions about important issues with guests, including Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Caitlyn Jenner, RuPaul and Sia.

The fashion world loves augmented reality. From Gap to Nike, brands are trying to find different ways to integrate the technology into their retail experience. Now W Magazine, one of the most prominent fashion publications, is treading a similar path with a new AR-powered issue. Done in partnership with The Mill, a visual effects production studio, the magazine's Sept. 2017 Collector's Issue features an interactive, computer-generated image of Katy Perry on the cover. At first glance, it seems like a traditional magazine, but that changes when parts of it come to life when viewed through the lens of a smartphone or tablet. For W Magazine, it's about using tech to keep its print publication modern.

YouTube brings in big names like Ellen and Kevin Hart for new shows

During its big Brandcast presentation YouTube made a pitch to advertisers based on some well-known names, with new shows on the way from Kevin Hart, Ellen DeGeneres, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry. Interestingly, this year's slate of offerings is coming to YouTube for free, instead of the subscription Red package. YouTube's message is that "Prime Time has gone online," where it claims that more 18-49-year-olds visit YouTube than any TV network. It's an interesting angle, particularly considering that YouTube just launched its own live TV package earlier this year.

Social media accounts get hacked all the time, but last night the victim list included the current most-followed (at 89 million, the @Twitter account itself only has 55 million) Twitter user: Katy Perry. After briefly spewing a few vulgar and racist tweets the incident was quickly cleaned up, with no indication of exactly what went down. The first tweet indicating anything was amiss pointed to a still-active account (@sw4ylol) that posted a few email screenshots, while also dismissing a claim the hack occurred as a result of an old MySpace leak. The pictures posted included password resets (with one by Twitter itself) and the screenshot of a SoundCloud takedown notice for a song "Witness 1.3" that could be an unreleased track.

The company that's famous for making Kim Kardashian: Hollywood has announced that it's making a mobile game inspired by Taylor Swift. Glu Mobile has revealed that it'll craft a title based around the singer's life that's expected to arrive for iOS and Android by the end of 2016. The firm has something of a thing for celebrity-endorsed mobile titles, previously producing games with Jason Statham and... uh... Katy Perry. According to BuzzFeed, the Perry game was such a flop that Glu was forced to turn its attentions towards another global pop sensation.

Hip-hop fans have had a lot to deal with lately: Dr. Dre shelved Detox, there's that whole Meek Mill and Drake feud that's spilling out all over Twitter and Run the Jewels might not be hitting your town on this fall's tour. There's a bright spot, though: Nicki Minaj is getting her own game courtesy of the folks behind Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. Glu Mobile announced that Minaj has lent her likeness, voice and creative directorship exclusively to the company for a game expected to launch next summer. Also joining the lady who kissed a girl and liked it is The Transporter himself, Jason Statham.

Katy Perry may be hard at work on her video game, but her lawyers are busy being the fun police. After the Left Shark made a lasting impression during the singer's Super Bowl XLIX halftime show last weekend, artist Fernado Sosa uploaded his 3D-printable character for folks to order at Shapeways. Well, the pop star's legal team didn't take too kindly to Sosa's creation, and they demanded the site remove the item. According to the official paperwork, Left Shark is Perry's intellectual property and that the character's image is copyrighted. If you want to help stick it to the man, you can nab the production files for the 3D-printable Left Shark over at MakerBot's Thingiverse... for now. Of course, while it's a free download from its current home, you'll have to handle the printing yourself.

Fresh off the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show's stage, Katy Perry and the folks behind Kim Kardashian: Hollywood (Glu Mobile) have an announcement to make: the California Gurl is getting her own free-to-play mobile game. Glu says that it'll be out the second half of this year and feature Perry's voice, likeness and personality. It's part of a five-year deal that'll put the pop songstress on Android and iOS devices (her Windows Phone love only exists in music videos, apparently), but there aren't much more details beyond that it'll "introduce players to a digital playground of global success and talent." Whether or not that includes Left Shark is anyone's guess at this point, but there are at least two Engadget editors eagerly anticipating finding out.

Facebook launched ten years ago in February 2004. A month later, so did this site. Social media hasn't, doesn't and won't stay still. As Myspace rises, Friendster declines. The pattern's repeated itself a few times already, and even Google hasn't quite cracked the magic social network formula, at least not yet. The crown currently belongs to Facebook, a company that's made some big, big startup purchases on the way, although Twitter continues to pack (arguably) more influence. A whole lot has happened in the last decade, but we've tried to squeeze the more interesting parts into something a little more visual. Check out the full 'graphic, right after the break.
