Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones will launch October 23 on the Wii U eShop, Curve Studios confirmed with Joystiq today. The game was announced as a Wii U exclusive in May and carries on the sneaky puzzle-platforming gameplay style set by the first game. The series began with the free PC game Stealth Bastard in November 2011 before the enhanced Stealth Bastard Deluxe hit Steam one year later. It received a name change in 2013 to Stealth Inc before arriving on consoles. Unlike Stealth Inc's linear level design, the sequel will adopt structures similar to Metroid and Castlevania series with a "fully explorable" overworld. The game has players infiltrating a cloning facility, obtaining equipment to unlock new areas as they go. Not only is Curve Studios promising a slick 60 frames-per-second presentation, but Stealth Inc 2 will also include a full co-op multiplayer mode in which one friend can use tools and skills on the Wii U GamePad to keep the player well-hidden. When Curve Studios told us about Stealth Inc. 2, its Wii U-exclusive return to a series that never reached Nintendo platforms with its debut title, 2014 was the targeted release window. A month later, during a meeting with Nintendo Life, Stealth Inc. creator and Curve Studios CEO Jonathan Biddle has considerably narrowed the studio's target to the month of October. Nintendo Life also learned that, like its predecessor, Stealth Inc. 2 will allow subjects to create and share custom deathtraps with its community. Just because Stealth Inc. 2 will trap its player base in a labyrinth of hazardous rooms doesn't mean its subjects won't have anyone to talk to, though – Miiverse posts will be displayed on the walls of other players' main campaigns, allowing for bonding over difficult stages or an exchange of tips to keep fellow subjects alive. Of course, there's the potential for purposely sharing bad advice to get another player killed, but who would even do that? Other than Dark Souls players, anyway. [Image: Curve Studios]

  • PSN Store Update: Lego The Hobbit, Strike Suit Zero, Persona 4

This week's PSN update brings PlayStation systems the the smallest of people in their smallest versions, courtesy of the newly released Lego: The Hobbit. It's out at retailers for PS4, PS3, and Vita, but if you'd prefer a download version it's also on the PlayStation Store. That'll set you back $60 on PS4, $50 on PS3 and $30 on Vita, so if you're after the smaller of prices, King Oddball at $7 might pick your fancy. The physics-based puzzler has an Angry Birds flavor, except it has a floating rock head who chucks smaller rocks around with his bizarrely long tongue. Oh and he has a crown on his head. It's been out on Vita for a little while as well as iOS, Android, and a few other platforms, but this is its debut on PS4. PS4 also has the new Director's Cut of Strike Suit Zero for $20, while the PS3 makes do with a Sonic Unleashed download for the same price. If you're after a more palatable vintage, Persona 4 is this week's PS2 Classic re-release, meaning you can get it on PS3 for $10. Finally, Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark is the latest PS Plus freebie for subscribers, and Episode 3 of Telltale's The Wolf Among Us is available to PS3 owners, priced at $5. [Image: Atlus]

Curve Studios' sneaky puzzle-platformer Stealth Inc. A Clone in the Dark is set to join the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection this week. Both the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions of the game will be available as free downloads for PS Plus subscribers starting tomorrow. Originally known as Stealth Bastard, Stealth Inc. features more than 80 levels in which players must avoid detection and outwit deadly traps while searching for an escape. An enhanced version, Stealth Inc. Ultimate Edition, hit the PlayStation 4 last month, bundling the core game and all previously released DLC in a single standalone package. PlayStation Plus subscribers also get a 20 percent discount on the upcoming PlayStation 4 version of Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut this week, dropping its price to $15.99. [Image: Curve Studios]

PlayStation Plus subscribers get Mercenary Kings as a PS4 freebie when the Kickstarted run-and-gunner scrolls onto PSN next week. Developed by Wizorb and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World studio Tribute Games, Mercenary Kings makes its Metal Slug-style action interesting by chucking in a weapon crafting system based around hundreds of different parts. The rest of April's Plus line-up in North America features Batman: Arkham City, Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark, and the Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse remake on PS3. As for Vita, Velocity Ultra and Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD are next month's dynamic duo. Except for Mercenary Kings, the roster of PS Plus games in Europe is totally different: On PS3 it's Pro Evo Soccer 2014 and on Vita it's MotoGP 13, while Hotline Miami and Sly Cooper Thieves in Time are unlockable on both platforms as Cross-Buy games. That means if you get the PS3 version of Sly on Plus, for example, you'll also get access to it on Vita. Devolver Digital recently revealed Hotline Miami is coming to the PS4 with Cross-Buy enabled, so if you're planning to get the top-down kill-fest on that platform, be sure to grab it as a Plus freebie this month. Those of you who missed charming stealth platformer Stealth Inc. in its prior incarnations have one more excellent chance to experience the pixelated adventure. Stealth Inc. Ultimate Edition, as its name suggests, is a collection that not only includes the new PlayStation 4 version of the titular game, but also its two DLC expansions, The Lost Clones and The Teleporter Chamber. Taken together, these two inclusions add 40 levels to the game's original roster of 80, and, as you'd expect, they add new gimmicks to the game's stealth action not found in earlier stages. Stealth Inc. Ultimate Edition is currently available from the PlayStation Network Store at a price of $15. Unfortunately, there are no discounts for those who already own the earlier PlayStation 3 or Vita incarnations of the game. [Image: Curve Studios]

Curve Studios' stealthy platformer Stealth Inc will receive a special Ultimate Edition version on PS4 in early March, the developer announced today. The bundle will include the base version of the game formerly known as Stealth Bastard as well as its two DLC add-ons, The Teleporter Chambers and The Lost Clones. The pieces of downloadable content add 40 levels to the game's already-existing 80. Stealth Inc launched on PSN for Vita and PS3 in July 2013, following its November 2012 launch on PC and April 2013 release on Mac and Linux. While it was Cross-Buy-enabled on PSN then, the developer noted today that the Ultimate Edition will not be free for current Stealth Inc owners to download. Still, it is "looking into ways we can offer a very significant discount to people who already own Stealth Inc," and will reveal as much in the coming weeks. [Image: Curve Studios]

  • Stealth Inc will soon infiltrate your iOS devices

The highly rated stealth puzzler Stealth Inc will eventually break free of its current console and PC shackles and find its way to iOS, reports Pocket Gamer. The game -- which was originally titled Stealth Bastard before that name raised too many red flags -- tasks you with guiding an adorable clone through a series of deadly puzzles. Developer Jonathan Biddle notes that while he has the game up and running on iOS, it's become a bit of a tedious process to ensure that each level works with all the available screen resolutions that iOS affords. "The different screen resolutions and aspect ratios have meant creating three different versions of each of the game's 80 levels -- iPad, widescreen iPhone and 4:3 iPhone. Testing the iOS version of the game now means playing it through three times every time the levels are changed." Biddle also mentioned that the lowest compatible device for the game will be the iPhone 4s, due to the rather robust performance requirements for the game's intricate deathtraps.

Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark (formerly known as Stealth Bastard) is bringing its charming blend of stealth and platforming action to iOS. In a feature over on Pocketgamer, developer Jonathan Biddle said the iOS port is already underway. There is no timing for iOS port right now, though Biddle said it's proving difficult due to the different resolutions for all the iDevices out there. "The different screen resolutions and aspect ratios have meant creating three different versions of each of the game's 80 levels – iPad, widescreen iPhone and 4:3 iPhone," he said. "Testing the iOS version of the game now means playing it through three times every time the levels are changed." Stealth Inc has already found success on Windows PC, Linux, Mac, PS3, PS Vita and Android.

Stealth Bastard, Curve Studios' sneaky puzzle platformer, has cleaned up its act and now sports a new name, as suggested by two fans: Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark. Curve held a contest to rename Stealth Bastard ahead of its launch on PS3 and Vita, promising the winner a Vita, a copy of the game and his name in the credits. Curve ended up picking two names and mashing them together, giving each person the grand prize."I'd like to express my gratitude to all 3,500+ of you that entered (yes, even those of you who submitted the perverted Stealth Orgasm, the outlandish Ze goggles! Zey do something! and the more classy El Chappo Stealtho)," Curve Lead Designer Sam Robinson writes. "They were all worthy titles, but there could be only one... well, two!"RIP Stealth Bastard, and long live Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark, coming to Vita and PS3 this summer.
