One Shots: The floating city
As we've mentioned a few times before, our regular One Shots contributor, Wookers, has been vacationing in the lands of Vanguard. He's sent back several absolutely lovely shots, and the one today is no exception. (Although we do wonder what he's holding on to here.) This screenshot shows off an abandoned floating city, but things are not as peaceful as they might appear. Wookers writes: This is the abadoned Raki city that is floating outside of Jalen's Crossing. It is a piece of the Raki homeworld that was left after crashing onto Telon. It has now been over run by the goblins of the four elements. We've been really glad to see a few screens coming in from Vanguard lately. With such a rough launch we wondered if this pretty MMO would be given a chance to shine here. Wookers, one of our regular One Shots contributors has been vacationing from Middle-earth in the lands of Vanguard and has sent back some screenshots. He writes: Thought this was just a beautiful view of Jalen's Crossing as I was riding in with my character, Wookori, to pick up more quests. Of all the nasties we've seen in games, this particular beastie wins for "face we'd hope to never run into in a dark alley." There's something about this much ugly on one set of legs that just makes you want to run -- or stick pointy things into it. There's generally very little fun about commuting in, but can you imagine how cool it would be to head in to work or school on the back of a pegasus? We're not entirely sure what happened here, but perhaps this explains why we haven't seen as many Lord of the Rings Online shots lately. Wookadan from the Meneldor server writes: There must have been some sort of glitch that I ran into, because all of the water was glowing white. [It] made the screenshot look like I was being abducted by aliens or something! One Shots: Ringwraith smackdown
One of the things that really struck so many of us as being cool when LotRO started out was the concept of being able to put the smack down on those creepy Ringwraiths. So we were glad to see this screenshot that came in recently from Wookers, that featured his party doing just that. Of course, the thing that really made us giggle about this is that it looks like this Ringwraith has been suffering one heck of a beatdown lately -- look at it! It's hunched over and looking pretty sad. If they weren't so undeniably evil, we'd feel bad for it. Do you have a screenshot of some righteous smackdown from your favorite game? Hooray! More combat shots are coming in from various readers, showing off just what's going on in their gaming worlds. Today's screenshot comes to us from Wookadan from the Meneldor server in Lord of the Rings Online. He described this shot as "Defending Weathertop" which he says is a screen he took whole he was fighting the troll atop of Weathertop. Screens like this really show off some of the cool-looking effects that Turbine has put into this game, as well as the great detail on monsters. It's time for another gaming Sunday! You know, that day of the week when many of us try to cram in as much gaming as time will permit, with some of us either multiboxing or just bouncing between as many games as we possibly can? Well, here's one group's creative take on it, managing to get in some Lord of the Rings Online in along with Rock Band time!
