Zack Snyder is turning Norse myths into anime for Netflix
Netflix isn't just tapping Zack Snyder for a zombie action movie. The streaming behemoth has announced that Snyder and DC animated movie director Jay Oliva are creating an anime series based on Norse mythology. There's no mention of plot, a release date or even a name, but Netflix is counting on the close connection between the two masterminds as a selling point. They've worked together on more than a dozen movies, including Man of Steel and Justice League.

Barely Related: Affleck's tiny Batman ears, tons of TV
Some weeks are more hectic than others for no apparent reason – and that just makes the weekend so much sweeter. Welcome to Barely Related, a conversational Friday column that presents the non-gaming news stories that we, the Joystiq staff, have been talking about over the past week. Ken Levine irrationally interviews director Zack Snyder
It's official: We need two Ken Levines. We want him to, of course, spend every waking hour of his life making BioShock Infinite -- that's key. But we also need him to spend all his time talking to interesting people and churning out fantastic discussions in his Irrational Interviews podcast. On the latest edition, he discusses adapting nerdy mythologies with someone who would know: Zack Snyder, the director of 300, Watchmen and the upcoming Superman relaunch. He also reviews some practical tips on cloning. We hope.
Watchmen BD-Live director's chat set for Comic-Con
Beyond its Facebook ties, the Watchmen Blu-ray set will include the opportunity to participate in a BD-Live session with the director while he's live at Comic-Con four days after its release on July 25. Hopefully able to do a better job of creating a live experience for home viewers than our experience with Hellboy II: The Golden Army or The Dark Knight, Video Business reports event attendees can watch the movie and observer director Zack Snyder's responses. Other details revealed during a media presentation yesterday included the Blu-ray cut's Maximum Movie Mode, a session that takes the run time up to three hours so Snyder can step in and explain various behind the scenes details of the movie -- only hardcore fans need apply.
300: The Complete Experience double dips on Blu-ray July 21
It appears Warner has finally gotten around to this double dip, with the (re)release of 300: The Complete Experience. For fans (who will probably be in stores at launch July 21 picking up Zack Snyder's Watchmen: Director's Cut) there should be plenty to make up for the extras left out last time around. Besides the formerly HD DVD-only blue screen picture-in-picture video track, there's three new Blu-ray exclusive PiP features: Creating a Legend, Bringing the legend to Life and The History Behind the Myth. No word on price, but the three disc set will include a digital copy DVD, BD-Live My Community Screening and My WB Commentary support, all the old extras included with previous releases, a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack and 50 page collectible booklet. That enough to get you to buy again?
Watchmen Q&A streaming live from Home
Today is the day of the live in-Home Watchmen Q&A with Zack Snyder and Dave Gibbons. You're invited to watch ten specially selected guests asking the director of the movie and the artist of the graphic novel about what we can expect to see, come March 6. The organizer, PPC, has opened a window to the event allowing you to stream video footage live and chat with other viewers as you do so. There will also be a recut version going up later in the day, for those who missed the Q&A live. The event kicks off at 4:30pm GMT (11:30am EST). Don't forget that more Watchmen stuff is due to hit the Home stores later this week. What better way to market the movie than with hundreds of Rorschachs running around a virtual world?
Zack Snyder signs three-game deal with EA
After you sign Steven Spielberg to develop video games with your company, what's the next step? Scorcese? Zombie Orson Welles? Nope, not even close. EA announced this morning that it just signed a three-game development deal with Zack Snyder, the man behind 300 and the upcoming adaptation of Watchmen. Snyder will work in conjunction with EA Los Angeles, the same house currently toiling with Spielberg on its next critical darling. There's no word on what sort of games he'll be making, but if he dips into the Zack Snyder back catalog, we'd like to humbly suggest a balls-out Dawn of the Dead game over an adaptation of Morissey's "Tomorrow."
