Xbox’s reporting system for abusive-voice chat arrives this week
Microsoft is set to launch its abusive voice reporting feature for Xbox consoles. Announced in July, it lets gamers submit inappropriate remarks heard while playing multiplayer titles. The system captures a 60-second clip saved to the console; you then have 24 hours to complete the report. The feature arrives this week in the September update for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. However, it’s initially limited to the “select English-language markets” of the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Xbox Series S is now available in Carbon Black with 1TB of storage
There’s a new Xbox console available. Microsoft just launched a new version of the digital-only Xbox Series S console in a bold “Carbon Black” color with twice the available storage, 1TB compared to the standard 512GB that ships with other SKUs. It costs $350, features the same matte finish as the more expensive Series X and ships with an official Xbox Wireless Controller. The new console is available at just about every brick-and-mortar and digital retailer.

Starfield review: You will like some of it
Starfield has moments of beauty, but it features just as many instances of drudgery and disconnection in its main quest line. Playing on pre-release code on Xbox Series S, these issues are only exacerbated by chugging framerates, low-resolution set pieces and roughly one hard crash every five hours. Starfield is big and largely bland, and while it gets some open-world gameplay aspects right, it doesn’t offer anything new for the sci-fi or RPG genres.

Baldur's Gate III is coming to Xbox this year after a Series S compromise
Larian Studios has confirmed that Baldur's Gate III is coming to Xbox later this year after reaching an agreement with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer. The game won't support split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S, but it will on the Series X.

Official Xbox Series X console skins are coming soon, starting with 'Starfield' and camo options
Microsoft is starting to offer official wraps for the Xbox Series X to give the console a customizable look. Along with two camouflage colors, Arctic Camo and Mineral Camo, a Starfield-inspired wrap will be available. Pre-orders for the $45 wraps are open now.

The Xbox 360 store will close in July 2024
You'll no longer be able to buy games, DLC or anything else on the Xbox 360 console or Marketplace after July 29, 2024. You'll still be able to buy backwards compatible games on the Xbox One and Series X/S.

Xbox adopts an eight-strike suspension policy
Starting today, Xbox's safety team will apply strikes on every enforcement action against a player who violates the community standards. If a player reaches eight strikes, they won't be able to use Xbox's social features for an entire year.

Why Baldur’s Gate III is an accidental PS5 console exclusive
Larian is having trouble fitting Baldur’s Gate III on the Xbox Series S, the lower-priced and lower-powered console in Microsoft’s ninth-generation lineup. Microsoft requires games to run equally on the Xbox Series X and Series S. With Baldur’s Gate III, this parity rule means the game will be console-exclusive to the PS5 for four months, at least.
