Engadget Review

The Pixel 3’s best new features lie in its software, which will ultimately mostly roll out to older Pixel phones. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth shelling out for an upgrade. The latest flagship’s gorgeous new display and exquisite build make your photos, videos and games look so good you won’t mind the $150 price hike.

If you want the best Android experience and the best camera you can get on a phone today, the Pixel 3 is it.

CNET
The Pixel 3's truly exceptional cameras and AI-powered call screening give it a slight edge on the other great phones in 2018's crowded winners' circle.

TechRadar
The Google Pixel 3 has the best smartphone camera you can buy today. Don’t let the raw specs fool you: its very ordinary sounding single 12.2MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture is enhanced by machine-learning software, Google’s secret sauce to making your photos better. The phone design doesn’t stand out and the battery life is underwhelming for power users, but Google does pack in a 5.5-inch screen and dual front-facing speakers into a one-hand-friendly phone. It’s Google’s best phone in a smaller size.

Android Authority
The Google Pixel 3 takes what's good about the iPhone and applies it to Android. Whether you think that's a good or a bad thing, the Pixel 3 needs to be experienced to be fully understood. It is one of the best Android phones you can buy right now and quite possibly has the best camera available.

Android Central
I will have no hesitation in recommending the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL to anyone who asks me what the best Android phone is. I can recommend them without qualms or caveats, because they're just so good at doing the things everyone wants from a modern smartphone — whether they're a novice or an expert — without show-stopping issues, problems, or tricks to learn. That's the beauty of buying a Google Pixel.

We can't help but wonder what Google could have done with an extra camera on the back and if better thermal design would have meant sacrificing pocketability in a significant way. Well, the upside of having a cons list is that we still have something to look forward to in next year's model. Meanwhile, high on the list of things we're looking forward to is a discount on this very Pixel 3.

So, is the Pixel 3 precisely as expected? In short, yes it is, but even without the long list of leaks ahead of the launch, I would have reached a similar conclusion. Google is sticking to the same tried-and-tested release formula it’s conducted for the previous two years: slightly tweaking the core DNA, while offering a handful of mini-improvements, without radically altering the blueprint. Is that a bad thing? No, I don’t think it is. The Pixel 3 is still waving the flag for Android, delivering a further knockout blow to Apple, and it will be rocketing to the top of our smartphone hierarchy very soon.

It may not be the flashiest Android phone on the market, but it’s level of understated style and usefulness clearly makes it one of the best.

Slick software, unique A.I. features, and a wonderful camera make the Pixel 3 irresistible.

The Google Pixel 3 not only has the best camera I have ever used on a phone, but it has a lovely design and a handful of great features too.
