Engadget Review

In the two and a half years since the Xbox One first came out, it’s become a fundamentally better product, thanks to last year’s Windows 10 update which made the UI faster and easier to use. That said, the console is still saddled with various quirks it’s had since day one.

Pros
  • Windows 10 makes the console more responsive and easier to navigate
  • Most backward-compatible Xbox 360 games run well on Xbox One
  • Now costs less than the PlayStation 4
Cons
  • Kinect voice commands still don’t work reliably
  • Navigating the console remains sluggish compared to the PS4
  • Still missing features from the Xbox 360 like system-wide game defaults

Disappointed overall. If you're a gamer and only buy one console, this would be the one I would AVOID. The games library is pretty weak, most of it is available on the PC/PS4. Both the PC/PS4 have a LOT better range of unique offerings. The Xbox One X might have very slightly better looking graphics than the PS4 Pro, but its hardly better enough to give up the breadth of unique experiences you'd be giving up on the PS4 side. Unless of course you're a typical gamer that just plays the most socially popular title for ever and ever until the herd moves on to the next most socially popular title for ever and ever. Yeah, it plays bluray, which is good, I guess, I should probably use that feature in mine (own both the Xbox One Day 1 and Xbox One X and have never used the blu ray player capability). I prefer my PS4/PS4Pro much more for the variety of unique games. At 4k both consoles (X1X/PS4Pro) look great. The most enjoyable title for the X that I've played has been Rysen, which got me really excited in the beginning at the possibilities of the console, but after that game its been a complete disappointing dry spell for me. Do most of my gaming on the PC however, as I find the Xbox X UI a PITA.

Horrible shit system! I would not accept it even if I got it for free! - Forced to be online to play games, YES; EVEN GAMES YOU PURCHASED IN STORE AND HAVE CD FOR!!! - Forced to be signed in to Microsoft shit system in order to play.. so they can track your every move. - Forced to comply with Microsoft shit system password policy and update this on regular basis. When forgetting the password, you have to spend time guessing on the xbox, with a gamepad... not fun at all. - Forced updates every now and then that takes up to 2 hours to download and install... and this is a complete bummer for Friday nights when playing with friends... or wanting to play at least. Cant skip / postpone update and play any game! - I just want to play a game... I don't want to spend 1-4 hours getting the bullshit out of the way. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM MICROSOFT EVER AGAIN AFTER THIS CONDUCT! I would not even accept a new version of their shit even if I got it for free... the frustration is not worth even $2000 (5x the console price) in the long run! Go with playstation!

Parents with kids of all ages. Do your kids ever bug you or just tick you off? Do you ever just want a day off to relax to yourself? Your kids ever get bored or the weather is just to bad to play outside? The Xbox One is the product for you and your kids. This product has multiple different functions. It can be used for movies, tv shows, and of course games. These things can keep kids distracted and stop them from getting into trouble and making messes. Some might say video games and screen time are bad, but gaming actually increases hand eye coordination and reaction time. Also you will finally get those days where you can just sit on the couch drinking coffee and watching your show all in peace. I myself own an Xbox One and an Xbox One S there are very similar however and I have had my Xbox One for a very long time with no issues. I have played online, watched movies, and have had family play also. There can be arguments over who plays and who doesn't but there are like hidden rules when it comes to sharing. Such as if you have the least kills you give up the controller, or if you lose, and even just taking turns every round. This does not only cause arguments though it can actually bring families together. You can have movie nights together and even have full family tournaments. It's honestly one of the funnest things you can do with the Xbox One and your family.Playing online with friends can make you more of a vocal person and less shy. I can vouch for myself and say that I have become more of a peoples person and less shy because of playing certain games online with friends. As an adult you get more time to yourself and your kids are learning skills that are usually kinda hard to teach. Many parents are scared of the online world and they have the right to be because unless you know the person and have met in person you don't really know who you're talking too. This is where you teach your kids about being safe online and not giving out certain information you can even go so far as put a child lock on their account. This child lock can make it so the can't add other accounts as friends or play certain games without parent permission. The Xbox One is perfect for kids. Actually it's the best for families. All the different functions and purposes of the Xbox one makes it the best for kids and families of all ages. Go out and get yourself one today have fun and enjoy time playing games or watching movies with your family. So what are you waiting for? You can go to gamestop and get the console itself for $199.99-$249.99 depending on if its a new console or pre owned. The game price can vary from $20-$60. Not the cheapest but is still better than ps4.

The Best Game Console My latest console is the Xbox One. It is the best console with no problems or service related issues. It has amazing games and a lot of features. It has many benefits from startups, multiple layouts, performance and fantastic graphic games to play, and with a huge multiplayer community online. This console encompasses more than what a regular gamer is used to. It is not only for games but is capable of media use, online interaction, and social networking. Features The Xbox One has very nice features: • The startup options are very accommodating and make the system more user-friendly. There are power-up options by voice activation, time activation for shutdown, wireless startup, and even having Cortana from the Halo game series to be the AI (artificial intelligence) for voice activation. • There are thousands of customizable options from themes, colors, and user interface screen options. • The Xbox One has an elegant design for optimal cooling and gives a similar look of the original Xbox. • The sound from the system is not as noisy as the first two Xbox models, Xbox and Xbox 360, and performs gameplay with no lack of quality and keeps the sound to a low humming. The competitor consoles are always noisy and distract the user. • The graphics are amazing. There are some game developers that make more games solely for the Xbox console than the competitors. The graphics are a tiny step down so as not to sacrifice performance of the user interface. The graphics layout is different than compared to the Sony PS4. • The online multiplayer community and Xbox Live Online is the number one reason that this console and all of its benefits come together. It has the fastest in-game multiplayer setup and you can join teams of people, which have many users from various countries and continents, so there is a lot of diversity. The Xbox console has seen many years as a user favorite and an all media type, user friendly device. I look forward to the upcoming games made for the Xbox One for years to come. It is truly remarkable. Get one today to join the million users for online multiplayer action.

Microsoft. Company with cultural sensitivity of Homer Simpson.MS is american company. As such its main focus is targeted towards home market. Take discounts, launch parties... Anything really. You name it. Then there are second trier countries. Not US, but big markets like Germany, U.K. etc. Those are the countries with big potential. MS can't be bothered to take care of customers the American way, but you still are able to buy movies through XO. Last and least important for MS are countries like the one I'm living in. Slovakia. Or Czech republic, Hungary etc. Here MS doesn't even tries to pretend it cares about customers. All you can do is buy and play games, but not movies for example. You can't even "buy" and watch free movies in those countries. For some time your location wasn't checked, so you could workaround of setting your location to US or UK and everything was fine. But not now. You try to set incorrect location and you will be informed about this fact. You can't even watch movies you already bought through XO store. You have a problem to register your credit card, because the system simply doesn't recognize postal code of european city of population 240k you're living in (yes. Seriously). Would you like to have interface of XO translated to language of those insignificant yet "supported" countries perhaps? Forget it mate. Or take all the issues with TV support of XO. People around the Europe had to wait until they were able to enjoy fully all the features of your new console, because some other people can't be bothered to check international standards valid outside of U.S..When it comes to media streaming, buying music and movies online, if you're living in one of those countries forget XO, go for Google chromecast for fraction of price of XO and you will have possibilities you can only dream about if you're stuck with XO. In those countries MS is some 5 years back compared to services provided by Google. To discuss Kinect on XO is pointless really, even MS realized that XO will sell better without it, mainly because XO lacks interesting games and apps which would really put Kinect to good use.I bought my XO as early adopter with Kinect and I really wanted it to kick ass, but unfortunately I'm living in the wrong country.
