This is a new camera for me; went from an older DSLR with nowhere near the capabilities. Mostly, I love this camera, especially the small size for what is equivalent to a mid-range DSLR (equivalent-size sensor and 24 megapixels). I've taken it on a vacation, and used it for a weekend indoor studio workshop. It's great in manual mode, with the ability to define how the 3 "soft" controls work for you. The non-manual stuff this camera can do is a bit overwhelming at first, and only after using it a lot have I started to feel comfortable knowing how to get it set to use a feature I want. In other words, I found that this camera has a bit of a learning curve (especially because its interface is so different than any other camera I've encountered.) But once past that, this is a great alternative to a full-sized DSLR. I love the viewfinder live view; see what you're shooting with the settings you've got.Availability of accessories has been a bit of a problem (summer 2012): the 16mm pancake lens from Sony for it has been unavailable. (Production problems or too much demand? I don't know.) When I needed an extra battery, I couldn't find one in any camera stores so ordered online. (I'd usually do the latter anyway, but wanted an extra for my weekend-long workshop. Got through that without needing the 2nd battery.) Battery life can be troublesome if you're using some power-hungry features, so order an extra battery when you buy the camera (which I foolishly did not).
