Sony has been a little slow to bring out lenses which can stand up to the quality of the sensor in this camera. But with good glass from any manufacture via adapters I have managed to get some of the best images I have ever taken. I changed over from a Canon 5D mark II and prime lenses. Apart from a little less depth of field, I didn't feel I lost anything in image quality. Where as I really noticed the size and weight saving every time I went out.

This is a new camera for me; went from an older DSLR with nowhere near the capabilities. Mostly, I love this camera, especially the small size for what is equivalent to a mid-range DSLR (equivalent-size sensor and 24 megapixels). I've taken it on a vacation, and used it for a weekend indoor studio workshop. It's great in manual mode, with the ability to define how the 3 "soft" controls work for you. The non-manual stuff this camera can do is a bit overwhelming at first, and only after using it a lot have I started to feel comfortable knowing how to get it set to use a feature I want. In other words, I found that this camera has a bit of a learning curve (especially because its interface is so different than any other camera I've encountered.) But once past that, this is a great alternative to a full-sized DSLR. I love the viewfinder live view; see what you're shooting with the settings you've got.Availability of accessories has been a bit of a problem (summer 2012): the 16mm pancake lens from Sony for it has been unavailable. (Production problems or too much demand? I don't know.) When I needed an extra battery, I couldn't find one in any camera stores so ordered online. (I'd usually do the latter anyway, but wanted an extra for my weekend-long workshop. Got through that without needing the 2nd battery.) Battery life can be troublesome if you're using some power-hungry features, so order an extra battery when you buy the camera (which I foolishly did not).

In short, I love this camera thanks to the exceptional quality of the photos and videos in such a diminutive and well-built package. You'll need to spend some extra money on the right lenses and learn how to get most out of the interface but the results are well worth the time and effort.

Amazing camera, replaced my Canon 40D. Takes astounding pictures even at higher ISO. Definitely the best camera I have ever owned.

excellent camera for photographers who likes experiments with their cameras and need to solve their imagination of functional fixation... Handy, smart and unconventional. The only problem with ergonomics is the video-button - to easy to press by chance! NEX standard lenses are quiet and well designed, good for video, but often not enough for good photography... Alpha ZEISS are not bad, but the adaptor makes them a bit bulky and are too loud for video. But in this class it is still better than most of its rivals, cheaper than Leica and more interesting that Fuji, Olympus and Bros...

The quality of the body plus the Tech that the camera has inside makes them the best camera for professionals and enthusiasts that don't want a full camera body

It's a fine camera if you really want to limit the size and weight. If you don't have that restriction, a DSLR is a much better choice. Especially at that price. Also keep in mind, if you want to use a decent lens, you'll need to add the adaptor, which adds to the bulk.

Love the camera but don't buy the kit lens, save your money and go for a better lens.
