Engadget Review

Not only is the Tablet Z2 the thinnest and lightest tab Sony has ever made, but also it's far and away the best. It's trim design and strong spec sheet makes it a strong competitor against similarly sized tabs from Sony's arch-rival, Samsung.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet has certainly been given a thorough tuning, but a lot of Sony's older hardware and software features still remain.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet is instantly impressive thanks to its slim build and incredibly lightweight chassis. We also liked the quality of the screen and the noise cancelling audio.

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet doesn't offer anything particularly new or exciting beyond being terrifyingly thin and light. ... solid specs, a decent screen and the added flexibility of the dock port and memory card slot make it worth a close look.

... the slate is a real pleasure to hold with very nice soft touch finish at the back. We've always considered the Tablet Z as one of the best looking tablets on the market and a year later we can safely say the same about its successor.

Without a step-up in resolution, however, we suspect that some will happily take a smaller device that's cheaper and almost as powerful, or opt for a rival device offering greater resolution for even slicker visuals.

Is it worth the higher price that it will command when the prequel is going to be much cheaper? It's hard to say yes from a purely fiscal standpoint - but there's enough in terms of design, technology and power here to say it will probably be the most impressive tablet on show at MWC 2014.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet is a stellar device for multimedia and all things online—and it's all held in a sleek, stylish, featherweight body. You can even take a bubble bath with it. What more could you want?

Sony did a lot of things right with the Xperia Z2 Tablet, but it's the hardware design that puts it head and shoulders above the competition.

This is a competent and attractive tablet, but we'd happily trade its thinness and lightness for a better screen and beefier speakers.

While the battery is a concern, the Xperia Z2 Tablet is still a good-looking slate that's loaded with more than enough power for anything you're likely to throw at it. It's a good choice if you're looking for a more affordable iPad alternative with 4G LTE.
