'Mass Effect' gets raunchy in its new Cards Against Humanity pack
If your favorite part about Mass Effect is making jokes about the game's wide-array of sexual paring options, you can skip Andromeda -- Cards Against Humanity has announced a limited run Mass Effect expansion. Well, expansion is a bit of an overstatement. The terrible person's favorite card game is selling 14 Mass Effect themed cards for $1 -- and yes, most of them are poking fun at the series history of letting the player hook up with pretty much everyone.
Game developers take a stand against Trump's immigration ban
The opposition to the Trump administration's immigration ban has spread far and wide. Video game developers are joining the chorus against what some see as an unconstitutional policy put forth with no thought or consideration of the outcome. 'Cards Against Humanity' hole is a crowdfunding metaphor (updated)
The Cards Against Humanity crew is no stranger to backing projects that are alternately very helpful and utterly pointless, and its latest is squarely in the latter camp. It's crowdfunding the Holiday Hole, which is... a hole in the ground. That's it. So long as the money keeps flowing, machines will keep digging into a nondescript patch of terrain. A basic $5 donation will buy 3 seconds of dig time, but you can contribute whatever you like. CAH is even livestreaming the whole affair (with multiple camera angles!), in case you want to see where your donations are going.
'Cards Against Humanity' re-opens STEM scholarship for women
Last year, the wildly popular potty-mouthed card game Cards Against Humanity channeled the profits from its $10 Science Pack into a full-ride college scholarship for women studying science, technology, engineering or math. With Science Pack sales still going strong, and gender equality in STEM fields still sorely lacking, Cards is ready to accept another round of applications for the scholarship's second year.
The fate of a Picasso is in the Internet's hands
Each holiday, Cards Against Humanity runs a mystery gift club, in which subscribers pay $15 in exchange for... uh... mystery gifts. This year, the presents included socks, socks and socks, as well as a year's membership to NPR and giving a week off to the employees of the factory where the cards are printed. The latest in the series of "Eight Sensible Gifts for Hanukkah," however, asks the promotion's 150,000 subscribers to decide the fate of a signed print of Picasso's Tête de Faune. The people have a simple choice: either they can vote to donate the work to the Art Institute of Chicago, or slice it into 150,000 pieces.
'Cards Against Humanity' expansion benefits women's STEM scholarship
Cards Against Humanity, the naughty fill-in-the-blank card game, today launched the $10 Science Pack, an expansion offering 30 cards written in collaboration with Bad Astronomer Phil Plait and Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal creator Zach Weinersmith. But that's not the coolest part: All proceeds raised by the Science Pack will be funneled into the Cards Against Humanity and SMBC Science Ambassador Scholarship, which offers full tuition coverage to women seeking undergraduate degrees in science, tech, engineering and mathematics. Applications will go live soon for the fall 2016 school year, and each one will be reviewed by a panel of more than 40 women working in STEM fields, including at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Harvard Medical School and the Smithsonian Institution.
'Cards Against Humanity' brings the raunch to the web in unofficial app (update)
Cards Against Humanity is already the naughtiest, nastiest, most hilarious card game for terrible people in physical reality, and now all of that fun is alive in the digital world with Cards Against Originality. It's a free, unofficial web app for phones, tablets and desktops designed by Dawson Whitfield, and it contains every Cards Against Humanity card, including all five expansions. Cards Against Originality is meant to fill in for actual cards if you forget to bring your big, black box to a party -- you still have to be near your friends in the real world to play. Simply start a new game, share the link and get rolling. Plus, it's all completely cool under the original game's Creative Commons license, according to Cards Against Humanity creator Max Temkin.
