If you've not played (or heard of) Danganronpa, they're a visual novel series that lie somewhere between Battle Royale and a high school dating sim: it's all about as murderous and plot-twisty as you might expect. Populated with anime characters and obeying the same stretched rules of logic as Phoenix Wright, the dark (sometimes very dark) series is getting now another sequel. Danganronpa v.3 made its first appearance at Sony's TGS press event -- two days before the thing officially starts -- sans release date, but with the fact that it'll land on both PS4 and Vita. Monochrome murderous bears for everyone.

It's 2024. An older Japanese gentleman wants to watch the International Space Station's closing ceremony, but he can't get out of bed. No problem! All he has to do is call Robear to help him get up. Yes, that's his caregiver's name, but you see, Robear isn't human: it's a bear-like robot. This machine is actually the third and latest iteration of the beary helpful caregiver robot being developed by Japanese research institute Riken. The first model announced in 2009 was called RIBA, followed by RIBA-II in 2011, though Riken also came out with a Pillsbury Doughboy-like model way back in 2006 called RI-MAN. Robear weighs 309 pounds, making it a lot lighter than its 507-pound predecessor. It also has new features that ensure it's gentler and more careful while carrying patients to/from their beds or wheelchairs than the older versions.

Welcome to Joystiq Weekly, a "too long; didn't read" of each week's biggest stories, reviews and original content. Each category's top story is introduced with a reactionary gif, because moving pictures aren't just for The Daily Prophet. Judging by how many uploads of Street Fighter 5's announcement trailer have been pulled, we're thinking Capcom doesn't want us to know about it just yet. Considering it seems to be a PS4 console exclusive, we're wondering if the reveal slipped out ahead of PlayStation Experience, this weekend's gathering in Las Vegas to talk all things PlayStation. We can find out together as the event plays out over the next 48 hours, but PlayStation news isn't the only thing happening this week – The King's Quest series is getting a new entry, we reviewed Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Telltale Games' Game Of Thrones, and Managing Editor Susan Arendt explained the Danganronpa series' remarkable conveyance of how depression works. Those and many more stories are waiting for you after the break!

Like the unholy offspring of Capcom's Ace Attorney series and Kinji Fukasaku's Battle Royale, newly-released Vita murder mystery Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc pits teens against one another in a supernatural trial that is legitimately of life and death importance. [Image: NIS America]

Anime archetypes and evil remote-controlled bears engage in a murderous battle of wits in Spike Chunsoft's Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, a visual novel set for release next year on the PlayStation Vita. Publisher NIS America sets the stage this week with an array of new screenshots, along with the introductory trailer above. Danganronpa finds a group of high school students trapped in an academy headed up by Monokuma, a two-faced bear that sounds like an unhinged cross between Persona 4's Teddie and a Prinny from the Disgaea series. The only way to win Monokuma's deadly game is to kill a fellow student and not be identified as the murderer in a group-led courtroom trial afterward, under penalty of execution. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc will premiere at retail in North America and digitally via PSN on February 11, 2014.

  • Three quirky Japanese imports coming to PS Vita

PS Vita owners can look forward to a trio of new localizations bringing fresh weirdness to their handhelds. Up first is Holy Sorcery Story, a dungeon crawler and roguelike focused on curry preparation, due later this year in North America from developer Compile Heart. Aksys announced the localization during Anime Expo (via Siliconera) on Saturday, revealing Compile's game will be released here under the title Sorcery Saga: The Curse of the Great Curry God. The other two localizations are coming courtesy of NIS America, which announced early 2014 launches for Demon Gaze and DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc in both North America and Europe, Kotaku reports. Demon Gaze is a quirky RPG about Oz, a vagabond with a magical eye that can be used to capture demons. The even more bizarre DanganRonpa is about a black-and-white mystical bear named Monokuma, who traps kids in their school and won't let them leave unless they "graduate" by committing a murder. And to think, our parents complain about what their high school was like.
