  • Marvel Heroes adds Dr. Strange and Shuri

Marvel Heroes' roster has grown by two characters over this past weekend (sort of). Dr. Strange, the "Sorcerer Supreme," is now available in the game as is a gender-bending costume for the Black Panther that will make him Shuri, the first female to take on that character. The game is also running a "buy a hero, get a hero" promotion that lasts until the end of Monday. Through this, the purchase of any hero (other than Dr. Strange) will give the player a second, random hero (other than Dr. Strange) for free. If the player gets a duplicate of a hero he or she already owns, the bonus will then be a token to upgrade that hero's ultimate power. You can check out the Dr. Strange trailer after the jump!

  • Doctor Strange table coming to Marvel Pinball in December

Doctor Strange will put a spell on Marvel Pinball this December when he fights his rival, Baron Mordo, and the demonic forces he will call forth in an effort to earn the title of Sorcerer Supreme. The battle will span across the Vita, PS3, 360, Wii U, Android, iOS and OSX platforms. Baron Mordo will enlist the help of Dormammu and Nightmare in his effort to stop Doctor Strange from being, you know, alive. The Lovecraftian Shuma-Gorath will loom in the table's background, surely only to bide his time before asking Doctor Strange for a friendly comparison of high scores.

  • Latest UMvC3 costume pack contains mysterious, unexplained Nova outfit

Every time a new costume pack is released for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Capcom explains the often obscure sources for said costumes. The "Viewtiful Strange" pack that came out last Tuesday, for instance, contains a Doctor Strange variant from a 1960s comic-book subplot, among other esoteric digs. There is however one costume without an explanation, one that leaves our interests sufficiently piqued. Nova's new threads (as seen above) legally cannot be expounded upon, according to Capcom Unity, which means that the inspiration for this costume must come from a Marvel production that is currently unannounced. We know that Marvel will be making some sort of announcement during the SXSW Interactive festival in Austin next month, and while we're not willing to say that Nova will be getting his own game or anything, it's not beyond impossible for the two events to be related.

Alright, perhaps I was too hasty in judging the Marvel Ultimate Alliance screenshots the other day. I know, I know, gameplay over graphics. Judging from the trailer, Marvel looks to be a pretty good time. It's also a lot prettier in motion, and it doesn't hurt that Activision seems to be cramming in every Marvel character except The Kitchen Sink (who's totally underrated). Seriously, playing as Doctor Strange? That's Cool with a capital C. Now if they could just squeeze Doctor Orpheus in there...
