UK publisher Ghostlight announced that it will publish a PC version of Acquire's open-world action game Way of the Samurai 4 via Steam. Released for the PlayStation 3 through PSN in 2012, Way of the Samurai 4 takes an open-ended approach to its 19th-century Ronin narrative. The game places a heavy focus on character customization, and players can divide their allegiances between three factions during their quest, resulting in several different endings. Previous series entries saw release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2, and Ghostlight's upcoming release marks the first time the franchise has hit PC platforms. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 will appear in European territories thanks to 1,800 fans who were willing to pre-order the game. British publisher Ghostlight Ltd. offered the following on its official forums: "I've got some fantastic news for you....#clears throat#... it seems that after a herculean push over the last week, I am delighted to say that Devil Survivor 2 has reached its pre-order target! A massive (and I do mean MASSIVE) thank you to everyone who ordered the game or posted about it and helped us spread the word. I knew we could count on you! :)" As a special thanks to its fans, Ghostlight plans to include the names of everyone who pre-ordered the game prior to September 2 within its manual. Those who purchase Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 via Ghostlight's website after September 2 will be left out of the manual, but will receive the limited "Gold Edition" of the game, which includes an A4-size poster and special gold logo. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 was published in America by Atlus in February 2012. Ghostlight has yet to announce an official release date for the European version of the game.

Publisher Ghostlight would love to release Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 in the PAL region, but it needs to reach its minimum order quantity of 1,800 units by August 30 in order to do that. An update on its official blog details two versions of the game: a standalone release of Devil Survivor 2 for £25 and a bundled copy with the 3DS' Devil Survivor Overclocked for £50. The bundle carries a £10 discount and cannot be shipped to Germany due to "an existing distribution agreement." Devil Survivor 2 continues the series' tradition of following a group of high-school students that save the world by making pacts with demons. If you're on the fence, we were quite fond of it.

  • Ghostlight porting Record of Agarest War to PC

European publisher Ghostlight is porting Compile Heart's Xbox/PS3 strategy game Record of Agarest War (known in Europe as Agarest: Generations of War) to PC, and attempting to get the port on Steam via Greenlight. The port is based on the Xbox 360 version, and will use Aksys Games' North American localization.Agarest combines strategy-RPG gameplay with elements of dating simulation games, with a "Soul Breed" system in which you attempt to build a relationship with one of the heroines of each generation, with your relationship resulting in different playable characters in the next generation. This is a slightly awkward time for Ghostlight to announce this port, as well as plans to port other console games to PC, as the company's most recent release, Devil Survivor Overclocked, suffers from game-breaking bugs – and that just went from 3DS to 3DS.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked on 3DS has a few game-breaking issues buried within its European version, which launched on March 29, developer Ghostlight announced."The game will hang/freeze if you summon a demon during battle or if an auction house seller lies about the stats," Ghostlight wrote on its blog. "These problems mean that currently you will experience difficulties that may prevent you from completing the game. Currently we are doing everything we can to fix these problems as quickly as possible so that you will be able to enjoy DSO in full."Ghostlight is working with publisher Atlus and Nintendo on getting a patch out. Devil Survivor Overclocked was originally scheduled to launch in the EU on April 5, but was pushed up to March 29. The US and Japanese versions of Devil Survivor Overclocked hit in fall 2011.

Ghostlight's European localization of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 is "finished and has been approved for release by Nintendo," according to the publisher's blog, though that unfortunately does not translate into a European release date for the DS game."Without going into too much detail," the update reads, "retail support for DS titles is understandably low at the moment making it difficult for us to release the title. We haven't given up though and we're currently looking into several different ways of making this fantastic game available to you all." One of the "several different ways" under consideration is the possibility of Ghostlight offering a Collector's Edition directly through its website, a strategy the publisher recently used for the 3DS release of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked.

Ghostlight is a UK publisher that's known for its adaptations of Japanese games (specifically JRPGs). Last week it asked readers of its official blog if there was any interest in seeing Ghostlight bring some JRPGs from Japanese consoles to PC. The interest was apparently high, because this week's blog post says Ghostlight is planning on doing exactly that. There aren't a lot of details yet, but Ghostlight says talks are underway, and while the original plans were to just release these games digitally, fan response has got the company thinking about boxed copies of these translated games as well.

Atlus' revered PlayStation 2 classics Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga and Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 are set to be rereleased on the European PSN, according to a blog post by publisher Ghostlight. No pricing or release date information is available as of yet, nor is there any indication of a North American release, although Atlus has never historically been one to avoid releasing esoteric titles stateside. Digital Devil Saga and its sequel diverged from the typical Shin Megami Tensei formula by having the characters themselves transform into demons, rather than summon demons, as had previously been the case. Cute girls that turn into demons? Reminds me of my ex-wife! Thank you very much, I'll be here all week. Tip your waitress.

Though Trails in the Sky has already been out in North America for long enough to be the subject of an Amazon Lightning Deal, European PSP owners are still waiting for this branch of Falcom's complicated family tree (unless they imported it). The wait is almost over: Ghostlight announced today that it will release Trails in the Sky in collector's edition format on November 4. The CE will include a soundtrack disc, along with a lovely turn-based role-playing game.

  • To End All Wars plans to end all FPS titles

You can't really see it, but the subject line is supposed to come off in a snide way. First off, if you're planning to be the end-all to FPS titles, selecting World War I probably isn't the best choice to make. Can you say "yawn"? Sure, it's not WWII, but seriously, dig into a trench and sit there blindly firing for a few hours? We're not being facetious. Developers Kuju want to create the most accurate representation of the conflicts in Europe ever made.Publisher Ghostlight explains further: "Period locations will be recreated in lavish detail, only weaponry of the time will be available and character design will reflect the uniforms and style of the era ... we believe that To End All Wars will be an exceptional title that will form the basis of a new gaming franchise." Who knows, maybe it will. Perhaps a realistic recreation of a dirty, violent struggle is just what FPS titles need. We still think WWI isn't the best choice for recreation. Trenches are scary, but perhaps that's the draw. What do you guys think?
