Nintendo unveils a coral-colored Switch Lite
Nintendo has unveiled a new color for the Switch Lite, and it's just fine. You'd be mistaken for calling it pink, but it's actually considered coral -- "Living Coral" was Pantone's color of 2019, so that may well be the inspiration behind it. Like the rose gold craze a while back, this hue is proving pretty popular on electronics at the moment -- we've already seen this shade on the Pixel 4, for example. In any case, it's the first new color for the Switch Lite since it was released in September last year, and joins a line-up of turquoise, gray and yellow models. The pink coral version will be available in Japan on March 20th and the US on April 3rd.
Apple Music’s Major Lazer documentary is streaming now
A new music documentary begins streaming today on Apple Music. Give Me Future chronicles Major Lazer's 2016 concert in Havana, Cuba -- the first to be put on by major American artists since the US restored diplomatic ties to the country in 2015. The group, made up of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire, performed for 400,000 people in the country's capital, the planning for which and the performance were documented by director Austin Peters.
Apple Music will stream documentary on Pink's new album October 13th
Superstar Pink is about to launch her seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma, on October 13th. To celebrate (and get the hype machine moving, of course), she's teamed up with Apple Music for an exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary titled On the Record: Pink – Beautiful Trauma. The short film will release October 13th on Apple Music.
Dell's updated XPS 13 includes a 'rose gold' model
When Intel formally launched its seventh-generation Core processors, you could practically hear the outcry for an updated Dell XPS 13 that uses them. It's a fan favorite among laptops, but a showcase for what Intel's technology can do for mobile performance and battery life. Well, you can relax. Dell is releasing an upgraded XPS 13 that not only touts the latest Intel tech, but also comes in an optional "rose gold" (aka light metallic pink). It's an acknowledgment that the XPS 13 and its near-borderless display have become design statements, and that many people would like color options beyond the usual shades of gray.
IFA 2016: The rose gold edition
No, Apple didn't invent the color pink, but it certainly made "rose gold" famous. It all started last year with the company's first rose gold iPhones, the 6s and 6s Plus, which quickly inspired other manufacturers to embellish their own devices with identical hues. It's no surprise, then, that the IFA 2016 show floor is filled with rose gold gadgets, although some would prefer to be described as "copper" or "luxury pink." Whatever it may be, it's become a major trend in the tech world, one that shows no sign of slowing down. With that in mind, take a look at some of the best rose gold gadgets we found in Berlin. Samsung's Galaxy S7 phones get pink option that isn't rose gold
Not one to hold back on spinning out new colors and editions months after a smartphone debuts, Samsung's revealed metallic rose-hued Galaxy S7s and S7 Edges for Korean phone-shoppers. Wait, it's not rose gold. That's some other company. These phones are obviously pink gold. Completely different and "skin tone-inspired".
Finally, a smartphone you can wash with soap and water
What's better than a waterproof smartphone? How about one you can clean with soap? Kyocera, which has done a line in toughphones for several year, revealed exactly that. Launching in (particularly soap-themed) pink, white and blue options in Japan, don't let the kawaii design fool you -- the phone is pretty designed to take some damage. And a shower.
Watch Sony PS4 streams on your Vita with upcoming app
If you're a fan of PlayStation 4 game livestreaming, Sony's about to have a PS Vita app for that. At a prelude to the Tokyo Game Show (TGS), it announced updates that will let you view live PS4 game action directly from a PS Vita. There are also themes coming to the PS4 and PS Vita around the same time -- Sony showed off one for Vita that centered around the popular (and insane) Dangan Ronpa shooter. PS4 users will also be able to customize the console dashboard with animated themes, as revealed in a demo that featured PlayStation Japan characters Toro and Kuro (see the image after the break). It also revealed a pink-backed PS Vita with a white front arriving in Japan on November 13th for 18,980 yen (around $182). There's no specific dates for the new themes and the PS4 game streaming app, but Joystiq pointed out a translated tweet saying it'll arrive sometime in October.
Light pink/white PS Vita announced for Japan
Sony announced a new pink PlayStation Vita system during its SCEJA Press Conference today. The back of the system is light pink and the front-facing part is white. Sony will launch the pretty new Vita on November 13 in Japan. It will cost players 18,980 yen (roughly $182.20). [Image: Sony]
Landmark replaces its trading post with the showcase
Say goodbye to Landmark's trading post; the closed beta sandbox has replaced the old TP for a new and improved showcase. The showcase will not only sell items, but will allow players to vote in item competitions and browse through claims. SOE has even made the showcase available outside of the game for you work slackers out there. Today's Landmark update also contains an expansion of the claim system. Players now have the ability to own two root and three attached claims. While you're claiming choice spots left and right, you can check out the new pink lumicite crafting material and swappable hotbars as well.
This is the pink Samsung Galaxy Note 3
We've already given full hands-on treatment to the white and black Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but there's one other color that didn't get its fair share of attention: pink. Thankfully, we had the chance to see this particular hue after Samsung's Unpacked event, and while we didn't feel a need to add thousands of words to simply describe one color, it's worth at least giving a small bit of attention to it for the interested parties out there. Line for iOS gains browser, themes and three more languages
Line is updating its iOS app with a trio of features designed to keep you nestled to the free messaging service for as long as it can. The biggest addition is an in-app browser, which negates the need to switch over to Safari (etc) when someone shares a link. Users will also discover German, Italian and Portuguese language support, not to mention a choice of themes -- including a tasteful pink version that'll sit well with your smartphone, game console and sports car.
Pink Nintendo 3DS XL misses Easter, arrives in the UK later this Spring
If the adorable patterns on the Animal Crossing special edition 3DS XL didn't tug at your heart (and wallet) strings, perhaps this English rose will. Set to arrive in the UK on May 31st, there's no software tie-in to mark the occasion, just the vivid hues of an entirely pink handheld. For the international purveyors of all things kawaii, there's still a pearl-finish pink and white 3DS XL listed on Amazon. Regardless of the shade, both options should pair really well with your vast collection of Hello Kitty tat goods.
New Pink 3DS XL announced for UK, coming next month
A new, pink 3DS XL glams up the UK on May 31. As Official Nintendo Magazine reveals, it isn't the same as the pink-and-white number which recently re-toured North America.There's no word yet on other regions. While Nintendo recently announced the Animal Crossing and Pikachu 3DS XLs for the west, for now, much like one of the Queen's hats, this particular portable is big, pink, and only in the UK.
HTC Butterfly goes pink for Mother's Day in Taiwan
Fancy a phone that's been styled after Molly Ringwald's prom dress? HTC has decided to celebrate mother's day by releasing a Butterfly in a lovely shade of #DDA4B4 -- but only for the Ducky Dales of Taiwan. The re-tinted handset is said to drop on April 30th, carrying the same 5-inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core APQ8064 CPU and 8-megapixel camera we've seen on the other regional variants. At least we know what Sergey's getting for his mom.
Pink 3DS XL returns to America for Valentine's Day
The pink and white 3DS XL was released in North America over the holidays as a limited edition, first sold online, then briefly through retailers. Just in time for Valentine's Day, when the color pink overruns stores nationwide, Nintendo is bringing the pink 3DS XL back.According to a post on the company's Facebook page, it'l be out this week "at stores coast to coast." It would probably look really nice with a bouquet of roses. Just saying.
Samsung Galaxy Note II gets pretty in pink, makes Hello Kitty proud
To say that we've covered many, many rosey devices around here still wouldn't do the statement justice, so don't mind our slight excitement after seeing the Galaxy Note II show up wearing a very pink outfit on Samsung's Taiwanese site. Clearly, the phone tablet slab looks to follow in the footsteps of its other galactic siblings, the OG Note and GS3, and, in the process, looks to give an extra hue option to those who prefer something a little different than the more traditional colors, or even the newer amber brown and ruby wine. Since Samsung hasn't made an official announcement yet, however, availability details are still relatively unknown, so we'll have to wait to see whether or not this light pink Galaxy Note II ever makes it past the Taiwan page and onto others. Rock Band Weekly: Andrew W.K., Fun., P!nk and Hot Chelle Rae
Andrew W.K. is gonna "Party Hard" on the Rock Band music store for Xbox 360 right before the New Year, while other consoles are going to have to wait a bit. Next week's update is December 30 on Xbox 360, but due to the update schedules of other consoles, the hard partying will need to be fashionably late in January on Wii and PS3.
Pink 3DS XL debuts through Gilt
Gilt is a site that allows members access to special sales on clothing and other fashion items. The latest fashionable accessory available through the site: the pink and white 3DS XL. Gilt is the first retailer to offer this 3DS XL color in North America, bundling it with either Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (which is currently sold out) or Style Savvy: Trendsetters for $219.99, $20 less than buying the system and a game separately.Note that the bundles will arrive between November 26 and December 6, so don't buy it expecting to play Style Savvy right away; it'll show up fashionably late.
