According to Apple, there aren't any PCs with fast processors and big screens that work without viruses, crashes or headaches. But folks, this isn't reality, this is advertising. In fact, this is Apple's first jab since Microsoft took off the gloves with its Laptop Hunters series of pokes against Apple. So grab a Coke (or Pepsi) and check the ad after the break. This might be one of the weirdest ads we've ever seen, to tell the truth. Much like those awesome ads for the Sega Saturn starring Segata Sanshiro, we see potential for many more commercials starring the man above, whether they are for de Blob or not. Watch and try to believe this is happening.%Gallery-17709%

Sony promised it was saving the best til last and it seems that they have. The narrator of this LittleBigPlanet seems to be channeling Donny from You Suck At Photoshop, but that only adds to the humor. We've enjoyed this advertising campaign. Hopefully it'll get quite a few people to stop and think "huh, that looks interesting." The game deserves massive sales throughout the Christmas season. We've not actually seen the adverts on telly yet, but a number of you guys have commented saying you've seen them. If you have any anecdotes about non-gamers' reactions to the ads, let us know. We're intrigued.

Ready for the second LittleBigPlanet European TV advert? It's available to watch right now, just above these here words. We think this one is better than yesterday's, if only because it has giant monster rockstars and a flaming mosh pit. Awesome. SCEE promises that they've saved the best one for last, though, so check back tomorrow to see it. So far we're enjoying these adverts and reckon they will definitely turn some heads in between commercials for car insurance and fairy liquid.Play with everythiiiiiiing!

Check this out. It's the first European advert for LittleBigPlanet, which finally saw its release in the region this week. This thirty second TV spot focuses on the potential of the Create mode in a family context. There are two more TV spots to be revealed later this week, though there's no word on when they're going to be broadcast or on what channels. All we know is that they're Europe-wide, though some regions will likely localize them. We'll have the others for you as soon as SCEE sends them our way.

When we were flipping around the channels and caught our first glimpse at the above Guitar Hero: World Tour commercial, we cringed at just how bad the whole thing was. With Kobe's terrible lip-syncing and A-Rod's inability to look like he has any rhythm, the whole thing came off as very forced to us. Kobe has probably never even heard of Bob Seger. Past the break, you'll find the newest Guitar Hero: World Tour ad, which features Heidi Klum. What do supermodels do when playing Guitar Hero: World Tour? Apparently, they strip then have an epileptic seizure on the couch.%Gallery-23491%

Not for the first time, Square Enix has totally wowed us with an awesome magazine advert for one of its games. We thought it would be difficult to top the minimalist ads for Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, only for this less-is-more Chrono Trigger promotion to bowl us over. How do we know? Because they're throwing a lot of money into advertising the game. $10 million, to be exact, all in the hopes that you'll want to hit the virtual slopes with Shaun and the gang. The campaign started last night, where Ubisoft purchased all of the ad space on the season premiere of popular television show South Park. That's not it, either, as it's being reported that Shaun White will make appearances on ESPN shows on November 16th to promote the game. In addition to that, Ubisoft is also purchasing air time on select Viacom channels with the purpose of promoting Shaun White Snowboarding.%Gallery-29887%

Well done, Nintendo. If you hoped this fourth wall-shattering commercial for Wario Land: Shake It! would make the blog rounds, then you succeeded. We don't usually post about media of games that are already on store shelves, but this was just too good to pass on. We can't really say much more for fear of spoiling the surprise involved, so click here and get watching. But come back, please. Gets lonely here, y'know.%Gallery-26293%[Via 4cr, thanks JR!]

The Mega64 ad from yesterday got cogs in our mind turning. There have been a lot of good ones over the years, some of which have been featured here on DS Fanboy through Promotional Consideration. Like, this one. And this one. And this one we made ourselves. And ... well, you get the idea. So what have been some of your favorite gaming advertisements? A random billboard? Some commercial you saw on TV? An ad you flipped past in a magazine? Out with it!

Supposedly, the image on your right are silhouettes of new pocket monsters set to premiere in Nintendo's upcoming cash generator Pokemon Platinum. For those of you with very good sight, that would be them to the right of this text right here. Japanese site blue skY is reporting that this image is an advertisement from a Toys R Us in Japan. We'd like to comment further, but up until today, we didn't know there were Toys R Us chains in Japan. For those of you who're Pokemaniacs, care to comment on these? Do they resemble the shapes of other Pokemon?[Via Go Nintendo and Pokemon Platinum]

Nintendo of Japan's DS site has a new commercial up for Band Brothers DX. With the title due for release in Japan on the 26th of this month, Nintendo is putting on its marketing hat and showing a new ad to Japanese gamers.Nintendo has enlisted the aid of Japanese celeb Thelma Aoyama to help them promote the title. If you're clueless as to who she is, then you probably don't live in Japan and should check out this Wikipedia page.Sadly, like most Japanese advertisements, this one is way too short and doesn't show enough gameplay.%Gallery-24427%

You know, we were thinking about the celebrity DS endorsement put on by Nintendo over at "I Play For Me" and we wondered how effective such marketing actually is? Everyone and their grandmother has at least 4 DS Lites and 4 copies of Brain Age and Brain Age 2 to accompany their handhelds, so what could this accomplish? Does the thing even need to be advertised, even on the web? Then again, we thought that perhaps thinking about advertising is a wasted effort. If you're anything like us, you're too busy playing with one of your DS Lites to watch television. So let's switch gears. If you were in charge of creating an advertising campaign for the DS, what would it be like? Would you sell out and have a commercial starring Chuck Norris? Would you travel to a small, mid-west town and hand out bundles to all the folk residing within?

Aside from advertising in the United States, another region important to sales of Mario Kart Wii is Japan, Nintendo's native country. As such, the gaming giant has enlisted the aid of Japanese celebrities to help hock their wares onto the gaming populace. Above, you can see model Aki Hoshino and comedian Medaka Ikeno having the time of their life with their Wii Wheels.Cruise on past the break to check out a plethora of Japanese ads for the game.%Gallery-4772%

  • Pachter says 3-4 million for Wii Fit in 2008

    04.02.2008

Apparently, there's a lot of folks out there looking to tone up their life with Wii Fit. That's what Michael Pachter thinks, as he predicts a whopping 3-4 million copies of Wii Fit being sold in this year alone. That's a $90 package that he expects between 3 and 4 million folks to buy. Wow."Wii Fit will sell 3 million to 4 million in the US if they market aggressively," Pachter said. Well, if Pachter read Wii Fanboy, he'd know that they are putting a lot into their marketing of the game. And, if Pachter's lack of reading game blogs are any indication, the man is woefully under-prepared to make any kind of prediction.%Gallery-4745%[Via Gamespot]

Ghost Squad, as we've already seen, is not afraid of being different. It's also not afraid of standing up for itself and picking on bigger games, when the need arises; games such as the PlayStation 3's Resistance: Fall of Man. The print advert above, for example, has been seen in various German magazines in recent weeks. And if we were being completely honest, we'd totally buy Resistance: Fall of Mandy.[Via Go Nintendo]

The TV ad for No More Heroes has 100% less nude women, as it foregoes the print ad campaign and strives to sell the game to the viewer by playing up the whole beam katana aspect of the game. Oh, how we loves us some beam katana. But, as with all Japanese ads, it's pretty short, so keep that in mind.As previously stated, the game released today in Japan.[Via Go Nintendo]

How hilarious is this Vii thing? We can't believe the unit is even being bought by some people, let alone making enough money to warrant advertising. But, sure enough, here we sit talking about a commercial for the thing. We're kind of tempted to track one down ourselves to see how bad the included games are, but we're worried about providing our credit card number to the company manufacturing these things. Thankfully, other people on the internet aren't as scared as we are.[Via Kotaku]
