Elderly Ezio and his templar pals get real, real adorable when they're re-created with Legos, as seen in this miniaturized version of the AC: Revelations trailer from E3. The production values aren't quite as impressive as before, but it's got plenty of heart.

  • Assassin's Creed Revelations 'Animus Edition' tempts Irish fans

A special edition of Assassin's Creed: Revelations found on GameStop in Ireland includes either more stuff than shows up in the American "Signature Edition" or provides additional info about what that edition will hold. Of course, the whole situation is a lot simpler if you're Irish, as the listing just tells you what is in this version you can buy. The €99.99 ($143) "Animus Edition" comes in special packaging, and includes rather a lot of stuff: a soundtrack, the Assassin's Creed Embers short film, and an "in-depth encyclopedia." In addition, it features in-game content including a mission set in the prison of Vlad the Impaler; gun, bullet, bomb, and arrow upgrades; the Armour of Brutus item from Brotherhood; two multiplayer characters, the Crusader and a new "Ottoman" version of the Jester; and "one exclusive customization item." To contrast, the US "Signature Edition" promises only an "extended gameplay mission, enhanced weapon capabilities, bonus multiplayer character, animated short film," and "in-game soundtrack." No big box, no encyclopedia, and no details about what those missions, characters, or upgrades are.

It's no secret that in Assassin's Creed: Revelations, modern-day assassin Desmond Miles will be somewhat ... constrained in his ability to escape from Abstergo's clutches. This new teaser gives an idea of just what he'll be dealing with, mentally, while the real world crumbles around him.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations pre-orders for Xbox 360 and PS3 at GameStop -- who, by the way, notes the game will arrive November 15 -- will automatically be upgraded to the "Assassin's Creed Revelations Signature Edition," Ubisoft announced this morning. The Signature Edition will grab pre-order investors a bonus singleplayer mission, an exclusive multiplayer character, weapons capacity upgrades, an animated short film and an Assassin's Creed: Revelations original game score soundtrack Some leftovers from all that GameStop goodness accidentally rolled over to Best Buy, which will give you an "exclusive multiplayer character" with your pre-order. They'll also toss in a look of shame for free. Oh yeah, Ubisoft also launched an AC:R Avatar fashion collection on the Xbox Live Marketplace if you're interested.

Pouncing on unsuspecting victims is as thrilling as ever in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Earlier this week, Alexander and I reformed our effective stabbing partnership and got to experience the multiplayer follow-up's notable additions -- and a few subtractions. Though we didn't see for ourselves in our hands-on session, AC: R's multiplayer features more story wrappings than ever before. Beyond the conceit in the last game -- Templar agents training in the ways of assassination -- AC: R ups the ante with cutscenes about the world of Abstergo, the modern-day, Templar-run corporation. %Gallery-125826%

Following in the grand tradition of every trailer for every other game in the series, Assassin's Creed: Revelations' E3 debut video is a slick production. We don't know who's in charge of picking musical accompaniment over there, but they deserve a million dollar raise.

You'll be just as shocked as we were to hear that, yes, this year's big Assassin's Creed game, Revelations, will be given its first big media blowout at E3. As much is confirmed at the tail end of the latest teaser for Ezio's final chapter, which we've embedded after the break.

After introducing a unique new multiplayer component in the last Assassin's Creed entry, developer Ubisoft Montreal has plans to make the mode more meaningful in the next AC title, Assassin's Creed: Revelations. In a recent Game Informer piece, four of the game's multiplayer characters -- the vanguard, the guardian, the bombardier, and the sentinel -- are introduced, each with specific ties to the game's main single-player story. The guardian is a member of the Templars, calling himself the "Guardian of Truth," and plays an unknown role in the forthcoming game. The sentinel is more fleshed out, with Ubisoft revealing to GI that he is a former Assassins Guild member who defected after the Ottoman Empire and the Assassins reached a truce; he'll be seeking revenge at some point during the main campaign. The last two remaining characters -- the bombardier and the vanguard -- are similarly of Templar loyalty, lured in by money and power. How all of these folks factor into Ezio's final adventure remains to be seen, but each will show up in both the main campaign as part of the story and in multiplayer as playable characters. If Brotherhood is any indication, though, we'll see another half dozen characters added to the mix sometime before launch this November.

NeoGAF user SolidSnakex has posted a breakdown of this month's Game Informer coverage of the just-announced Assassin's Creed: Revelations. First off, let's get the protagonist problem out of the way: In Revelations, you'll play as both 12th century stabber Altair and his 16th century descendant Ezio, now over 50 years old. Ezio will be looking for "seals" which will allow him to access Altair's memories, similar to how Desmond used the Animus to access both Altair's and Ezio's memories. Speaking of Desmond, he's unsurprisingly back in the Animus "where he finds a safe mode called the 'Black Room.'" The gameplay in Desmond's mode is described as "narrative-fueled puzzle sequences," geometric shapes and all. The lion's share of the game will take place in Constantinople (or, as it's known today, Istanbul) separated into four districts: Constantin, Beyazid, Imperial, and Galata. If you want a change of scenery (fairy chimneys!) some of the game will also take place in Cappadocia. Inside the cities, you'll be able to establish Assassin's Dens, a sort of expanded Borgia Tower mechanic from Brotherhood. Complete various scenarios, take down the regional Templar presence, establish a Den, and then "upgrade the buildings in that region along with adding ziplines across the rooftops."

  • Assassin's Creed: Revelations concludes Ezio's story this November

Tired of back-to-back installments of Assassin's Creed? Alright, how about a new game that places temporally separated protagonists Ezio and Altair back to back on the June issue of Game Informer? The mag's scoop for the month is Assassin's Creed: Revelations, which Ubisoft says will mark the end of Ezio's story when it launches this November. Revelations promises answers (right there in the title, guys) within the game's cryptic, multi-generational plot -- spread out between three playable characters: A distinguished Ezio, who ventures to Constantinople amid the rise of the Ottoman Empire; 12th-century assassin Altair; and the descendant who ties them all together, Desmond. The game is being led by Ubisoft Montreal, "with the support and expertise of Ubisoft studios Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Quebec, Singapore and Bucharest." The massive production will also mark the return of multiplayer (now with more everything), and the introduction of a new climbing hook. After the break: A screenshot of Ezio as dangling participant in the Ottoman Empire's affairs.

  • Latest Assassin's Creed teaser hints at Istanbul setting [update]

We'll be honest -- the latest teaser posted on Facebook for the forthcoming Assassin's Creed game reveal was outright baffling to us. Despite containing major clues like the very clear image you see above (an Ottoman Tughra) and a string of numbers flashed twice ("24061459"), not to mention the friggin' Hagia Sofia (it's kinda famous), we somehow didn't put together that the teaser was very seriously hinting at an Istanbul setting for the next game. Thankfully, Turkish gaming site Oyungezer has plenty of insight to offer. The string of numbers? That's a stand-in for "June 24, 1459," or for you Auditore family historians, Ezio's date of birth. And the Ottoman Tughra? Turns out that's an official seal or signature for a sultan, used to sign official documents and for money printing, among other things. It's like Prince's symbol, basically, except it originates with the Ottoman Empire rather than an egomaniacal musician. Anyway, between the major landmark (Hagia Sofia) and the Tughra, we're guessing the big reveal will somehow center on Istanbul, potentially in the mid-1400s. As for when we'll find out, your guess is as good as ours -- the meter towards the next teaser is at 20 percent as of now, with no indication of how many unveilings are left in Ubisoft's plan. Update: The fifth teaser has now gone live, and it features a man who looks suspiciously like Assassin's Creed 1's main character, Altair. It also features a two-headed eagle -- a symbol quite popular in the Byzantine Empire -- and the number string "11011165," which is presumably a placeholder for January 11, 1165. What happened on the eleventh day of January, 1165, you ask? That's a good question. Other than some unexciting interactions with Russia, not much was happening in Constantinople/Istanbul that day. Perhaps the next teaser will clue us in! [Thanks Sinan!]

You remember that crazy Assassin's Creed teaser site that Ubisoft briefly launched late last week before pulling it down and pretending nothing happened? Turns out the French publisher is interested in promoting its next AC game after all, as the Facebook posting has reappeared and a trio of teaser videos are now available (found after the break). The latest of the videos shows what appears to be the first Assassin's Creed's main protagonist, Altair, though the only portion unobscured with distortion is -- naturally -- his hidden blade. Some vaguely Assassin's Creed 1-looking buildings can also be seen in the upper left corner, potentially hinting at a return to the Middle Eastern setting for the next game in the series. Folks interested in helping speed the reveal process for the next game can choose from a variety of social media-tied means to assist, though the progress bar for the reveal is reflecting just a four percent completion as of right now. While we're really interested in finding out what the next AC game is, we'd never outright suggest spamming your Facebook/Twitter for game reveal countdowns. We'll just say this: Do what you think is right.

  • Ubisoft calls on the community to reveal next Assassin's Creed game [update]

Ubisoft is gearing up to reveal the next Assassin's Creed game, launching a teaser site where fans can either e-mail, Tweet or post messages to Facebook to help speed up the unveiling. As of right now, the activity monitor on the teaser site only shows 3% progress, so it would seem we're quite a ways off from an official reveal. Ubisoft production manager Azaïzia Aymar has been responding to questions on Twitter and generally laying down the fine print: Ubisoft is monitoring all use of the #ACReveal hash tag, though he says to go through the teaser site to ensure that your "action" is tracked. What do you guys think the new game will be called? We've got a poll past the break, if you're interested. Update: The teaser site has since been pulled. We'll leave the link in for posterity's sake. (Or the off-chance the site actually comes back online.)
