Over at Assassin's Haven they put together a quick list of five reasons why that not-so-PS3-exclusive Assassin's Creed will rock your socks. Not only are the crowd dynamics amazing, but Altair (the assassin you play) is how Assassin's Haven puts it, " badass". Soon we'll be able to pull out our switchblade, cut some throats, and run around in the Crusades era ... who's pumped about this one? [Via Digg]

  • MISSING: Playstation 3 exclusives

Have you been wondering why our Playstation 3 friends have lost so many exclusive games? Think about it, Grand Theft Auto and Assassin's Creed are both shinning examples. Also, why has the Xbox 360 wrapped up exclusives from third party developers like Bioshock and Winning Eleven? It's quite simple actually, Sony's lead man Ken Kutaragi dragged his feet for far too long. Mr. Kutaragi couldn't give developers the thumbs up for exclusivity and Microsoft played the roll of annoying best friend, constantly bugging developers to flock to their console. And look at the result, we've got great games coming. Good job Microsoft, third party exclusive titles are butter and cream and we're all anticipating Assassin's Creed. Oh the joy.[Via, Digg]

With the recent release of Gears of War you may be asking yourself, "man this game roxorz, but what other games can I look forward to in 2007?" It's okay my friend we're here to enlighten you, because About.com compiled a nice list of the most anticipated Xbox 360 games dropping in 2007. I'm already saving up for games like BioShock, Lost Planet, Halo 3 (duh), Alan Wake, Too Human, Assassin's Creed, and Guitar Hero II. I'm going to shed a tear ... just look at what we'll be playing in 2007.[Via, Digg]

  • Assassin's Creed, BIA pushed back, GRAW2 coming

Dutch gaming site, Xboxworld, is reporting that Ubisoft has delayed the launches of both Assassin's Creed and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, pushing them into late 2007, possibly next Christmas. This information was contained in Ubisoft's quarterly earnings report, along with the announcement of a sequel to the massively popular Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. There is some more good news here, too. GRAW 2 is apparently set to release in the first half of 2007. The delay of Assassin's Creed is upsetting to be sure, but GRAW 2 makes a damned fine replacement. Still, we're very excited to see Assassin's Creed and we hope that it comes out sooner rather than later.[Via Xboxic]

Collector's editions, seems like they're everywhere these days. Not one to miss the party, Ubisoft plans to offer a limited edition of Assassin's Creed. Not only that, but this particular collector's edition stomps others into the dust. Included in the box is a 12" painted figurine of everyone's favorite assassin, Altair. Now that's a collector's item.We don't know if this set will make it to the US (or Europe for that matter), but Play-Asia is currently taking pre-orders for a region free version. That means it will work on any 360 on the planet. The box set itself is a reasonable $59.90, but the cheapest US shipping will run you $15.20. That puts this pretty package at $75.10, which is about what any other collector's edition would cost with tax. Assuming you've got the dough, your next problem will be figuring out where to put the Chief. See a larger picture of the figurine after the break.[Via Joystiq]

  • Assassin's Creed site sneaks onto the web [update 1]

The official Assassin's Creed website has launched. If you've been following the game, the website won't show you anything new. Still, there is plenty of content there. There are plenty of downloads including screenshots, wallpapers, icons, webkits, and a screensaver. It's worth noting that the site retains the occasional digital glitching that pops up in the trailers, hinting at the rumored futuristic plot twist. Also worth noting is the unintentional bugginess of the site. I wasn't able to get any of the wallpapers, and the links to all the full size screenshots were broken, as was the link to developer diaries. It's not because of heavy traffic either, the links just don't work. Kind of shocking for such a high profile game, no? [Via Xboxic] Update: It seems some clarification is in order. Indeed, there has been an AC site for some time, but not with all the features described above. From the site: "Thursday 10.12.06 Welcome to the Assassin's Creed Portal Welcome to the Assassin's Creed portal! On this site you'll find new information that wasn't available with our previous site, as well as the most recent news about the upcoming game from the Ubisoft Montreal studios. Take a look around and tell us what you think of the site in the forums!"

We ran a post about some spiffy new artworks from Assassin's Creed yesterday. We also made an offhanded remark about the IGN watermark dirtying up our pretty, pretty picture. It looks like reader, Alexis Ayala, took that remark to heart. Alexis has since scrubbed the watermark out of two of the images. The reason: "I was bored." You can grab the first one by clicking the image above. The second can be found here. We totally <3 you, Alexis.

  • Ubisoft "accidentally" leaks tons of assets

Over two gigs worth of screenshots, videos, and concept art was apparently accidentally posted by Ubisoft on their public ftp server. Whoops. While some of these games have already been announced, some haven't, although there aren't any real surprises here: Assassins Creed, Farcry 2, Farcry PSP, Farcry Wii, Lost, Naruto, Open Season, Prince of Persia, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Rocky PSP, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Splinter Cell Conviction, Surf's Up, Star Wars PSP, Shaun White, TMNT, and TMNT GBA. Ubisoft isn't too pleased about the leak either, stating,"The publication of this type of information can only be harmful to the game development process and we will take all steps necessary to prevent this from happening in the future."While we can understand why Ubisoft wouldn't want employees or summer interns posting confidential information on the internet, how does it harm the game development process? We can understand if the raw code for Splinter Cell: Conviction got out, or if a disgruntled programmer posted a disk image of Far Cry 2, but screenshots and videos? And while TGS is unfolding? Color us suspicious.

  • Assassin's Creed finally official, probably.

Format Xbox 360Developer UbisoftPublisher UbisoftGenre Action, AdventureThe above is a snippet from Computer and Videogames' latest preview of Assassin's Creed. In case you haven't made the connection yet, this more or less confirms the constantly shuffling status of the once almighty PS3 exclusive. That is to say, it's hitting both PS3 and 360, which almost everybody expected anyway. Now, lest this was merely a typo on the part of some poor soul at Computer and Videogames, I will sit here and wait to be shot down by Ubisoft. The rest of you can dance in the streets.[Via Evil Avatar]

  • Assassin slinks its way to 360 [update: 1]

Your backstabbing dreams have come true. Two sources -- Xboxygen and Club Skill if you must know -- have reported that Ubisoft has officially confirmed Assassin's Creed for both 360 and the PC. While most of us have suspected this anyway, especially given Ubisoft's penchant for cross-platform releases, it's nice to get some official word. It's not all sunshine and lollipops though: Ubisoft still hasn't mentioned whether or not Assassin's Creed will be a timed exclusive for the PS3. Any thoughts? Update 1: Many sites are now noting the denial from Ubisoft on this matter. Under the guise of UbiRazz, a community manager (mod) from Ubisoft has stated that Ubisoft has made no such confirmation. At least three French sites have reported that Ubisoft made this confirmation at the Interactive DIGITAL Entertainment Festival (l'IDEF). So, this may still be a rumor, but it's a damned juicy one.
