Bashiok has confirmed that Blizzard is anticipating emailing out BlizzCon ticket barcodes next week. If you were lucky enough to have bought BlizzCon tickets, watch your email and make sure nothing gets lodged in the spam filter. Your BlizzCon ticket barcode is required, along with a photo ID, to get into the show and pick up your badge. It is important to print out the barcode before you leave for Anaheim and bring it with you for registration. Bashiok -- Re: Emailed Blizzcon Tickets None have gone out yet. We're anticipating them to begin going out early next week. source

They've done it before, and they want to do it again. SteelSeries, J!NX, BradyGames and Cryptozoic Entertainment are looking to send lucky contest winners to this year's BlizzCon. In addition to the grand prize, there will be 20 winners of other prize packages including murloc plush toys, J!nx gift certificates and more listed here. Head over to the BlizzCon Sweepstakes page and see if you're eligible, then enter by Oct. 2. It's so simple even I could do it. And please don't forget the official WoW Magazine's contest, ending this Thursday, Sept. 30. Might as well try them both, right?

At last, it's begun. Who's the most adorable lava-coated mutant fish man ever? This year's BlizzCon exclusive pet, that's who! BlizzCon 2010 World of Warcraft & StarCraft II In-Game Items "Death will rise from the tide!" Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain once warned -- and at BlizzCon 2010, the band's dire musical prophecy will finally come to pass. Everyone who attends this year's BlizzCon or purchases the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket will receive an exclusive set of murlocalyptic in-game items for World of Warcraft and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. World of Warcraft players will be joined by Deathy, a murloc companion decked out as Deathwing and doing his best to strike fear into the hearts of Azeroth's crustacean population. You'll also be able to display your tidal pride in StarCraft II with a Murloc Marine character portrait and a pair of deep-sea decals to emblazon on your units, each with a different terran, protoss, and zerg design. BlizzCon 2010 takes place on October 22 and 23 at the Anaheim Convention Center. For further details or to order the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, visit www.BlizzCon.com. source Oh, Deathy. You complete me. I think I will have no other choice but to order the PPV of BlizzCon this yeah, because I can't make the flight to Anaheim and I simply must have this pet. This is the most ridiculously awesome volcanic monstrosity I have ever seen in my entire life. (Yes, even you pale before him, Gorthamal. Sorry.) For more details, check out the BlizzCon site.

  • BlizzCon 2010 virtual ticket on sale

For those unable to attend BlizzCon in Anaheim, California this upcoming October, DIRECTV will once again be broadcasting it all (mostly) live online for $39.95 USD. The virtual ticket has just gone on sale this evening so make sure you don't miss out. For you pet/mount collectors out there, this virtual ticket will get you the exclusive in-game item that BlizzCon attendees will be receiving (though we don't even know what it is yet). Last year one of the major complaints about the online stream was the fact that many panels were delayed or possibly not even shown at all due to having only one stream available for many panels happening simultaneously, but it looks like they have a solution for that in place this year. According to the RayV page describing the virtual ticket, coverage has been expanded to four online channels offering 50+ hours of BlizzCon programming with complete coverage of panels, tournaments and announcements plus DIRECTV's own exclusive interviews. Hopefully that means you can watch the events as they unfold rather than watching them on a delay or not at all.

  • BlizzCon sold out; additional conventions cannot be launched

If you had planned to spend the summer mowing lawns and scraping together enough dough to attend BlizzCon this fall, you're already too late. After going on sale this past Wednesday, all 20,000 tickets to the event were snatched up quickly. ZAM reports that the first batch of tickets on Wednesday were sold out in 23 minutes, and the second batch on Saturday in 28 minutes. The official Blizzard Store page simply notes now that "BlizzCon 2010 Tickets Currently Unavailable." This is certainly no surprise considering that past BlizzCons proved to be one of the most popular conventions of the year, with ticket scalping at a premium. Currently, some desperate Blizzard fans are combing through eBay for scalped tickets, although high prices and Blizzard asking eBay to crack down on such sales make this a difficult alternative. Blizzard is also requiring photo ID this year to match tickets as a way to limit these transactions. Fortunately, there is hope for Blizzard fans: they will once again offer virtual passes to the convention through DirecTV as a Pay Per View event available through satellite and multi-channel Internet stream. The virtual pass enables fans to watch all of the presentations and panels, as well as receive an exclusive in-game item, all for $39.95.

If you're hoping to join your fellow World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo fans in a two-day love-fest for all things Blizzard later this year, you're gonna want to keep your fingers on your F5 button here in just a few minutes. The second and final group of tickets for BlizzCon 2010 will go on sale at 1PM EDT (10 AM PDT) on the event's official website and the Blizzard store for $150 a pop. Seeing as how the ticket queue for the last round of sales jumped from zero to 20,000 in two minutes, you'll want to be as prepared as humanly possible if you want to acquire an entry pass. Check out WoW.com for a few helpful tips on how to grab your ticket hastily and definitively.

You stalked the Blizzard store page like a pro, refreshing constantly starting several minutes before the ticket sales opening, and you actually snagged the grand prize -- you nabbed a ticket to BlizzCon 2010! Now comes the hard part: justifying the time off school or work plus travel, hotel and expenses. What makes a fan event like BlizzCon worth all that time and money? What are you most looking forward to? What are you hoping to see or learn? Are there people you hope to meet there? We're looking for an article that explains what makes a con like BlizzCon worth its weight in purples. Is this event strictly for Blizzard fanbois? What type of player will get the most out of attending? Have you attended a past BlizzCon -- and what was your experience then? Your article should clearly explain why a trip to BlizzCon is worthwhile. We're not looking for unbridled cheerleading but rather for clear, rational reasons why BlizzCon is worth the time, money and effort for a dedicated World of Warcraft player. We'll only be accepting the very best article. Submissions should be between 500 and 1,000 words. Artwork is not mandatory, but any you choose to include must be your own work or from creative commons. We will not accept articles submitted under player names or pen names; please use your real name and email. Ready to submit? Read up about our guest post program, then sign up for Seed and submit your article here. (You can't see the article page unless you have a Seed account.) Unfortunately, we are currently only able to take submissions from individuals living in the United States; we hope to be able to accept international submissions in the future. We'll accept submissions for this assignment until 11:59 p.m. EST on Thurs., June 10. Good luck and good writing!

We will be tracking ticket status throughout the ticket sales process this evening, once they start up roughly an hour from now. That will get a status post all for itself here on our front page, which we will update throughout the evening. This post is not that post. This post is WoW.com's ticket sales open thread! A reminder to those planning on purchasing BlizzCon 2010 tickets: The first round of sales for tickets will be tomorrow, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. PDT/10:00 p.m. EDT. BlizzCon 2010 will be taking place Oct. 22-23 in Anaheim, California. Tickets are $150 each. For those unable to get tickets during tomorrow's window, there will be a second round of sales on Saturday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. PDT/1:00 p.m. EDT. There is a five-ticket limit per household. For those unable to attend the convention proper, the DirecTV Pay Per View event will return in 2010 for $39.95, as well as the multi-channel internet stream of the event. For the first time, anyone who purchases the internet stream will be able to switch freely between multiple channels of coverage dedicated to different areas of BlizzCon, meaning viewers can tune in to the sections they're most interested in, rather than what they're stuck with. And, of course, WoW.com will be bringing you live blogs of everything and complete event coverage. For those planning to purchase tickets: This is your reminder. Make sure you're online and at the Blizzard Store or the official BlizzCon website tomorrow evening, play a few rounds of Failoc-alypse and hope your fingers are fast, because these tickets are sure to sell out within seconds.

Blizzard recently confirmed via a post on their official site that Jay Mohr will be hosting BlizzCon 2010 in Anaheim, California October 22nd and 23rd (we originally reported this via Jay's quickly deleted tweet back in February). Tickets go on sale for the event on June 2nd and June 5th for about as long as it takes to punt a gnome across the road. But if you don't get tickets, you can still catch Jay (and all the other glories that are BlizzCon) via the live internet stream. In my opinion, Jay has been doing a better job at BlizzCon each year he's hosted. Some people really don't like him, and that's okay -- he'll just make fun of it. Blizzard Entertainment Comedian and actor Jay Mohr will be returning to BlizzCon this year to serve as master of ceremonies for the live costume contest and other contests on the first night of the show. Jay is the star of the popular television show Gary Unmarried, and is known for his roles in movies like Jerry Maguire and for creating, producing, and hosting the successful TV series Last Comic Standing. We'll have more info to share about the Friday-night contests and other events at BlizzCon in the months leading up to the show, so keep your eye on BlizzCon.com for more details. source Update: The curious story of Mr. Jay Mohr at BlizzCon continues. On Twitter, Mohr currently says he's not sure he's doing BlizzCon this year.

  • Buff(ing) For BlizzCon: Carving out Caverns of Time and unarmed combat

Buff(ing) for BlizzCon is a bi-weekly fitness series written by ShrinkGeek authors Rafe Brox and Michael McGreevy. Join the WoW.com team in getting in shape for the ultimate WoW geek event: BlizzCon. We've all been there: bored in Storm Peaks, decked out in our blues and purples, and idly surfing through your achievements, when you realize that you need to give someone (or several someones) a knuckle sandwich in order to earn Master of Arms. Unequipping your weapon of choice (or eschewing your favorite spell rotation), you start slapping some unsuspecting rhinocerous or elemental. It takes a surprisingly long time to do that particular grind, especially if you're not built for melee combat. What the heck does this have to do with our bi-weekly sojourn into the realm of health and fitness? Without the right equipment and skills, even something simple is harder than you think it's going to be -- but with practice, it gets easier. Fortunately for us, we don't have to subject ourselves to a great deal of peril in order to gear up, and we can boost our skills during in-game downtime. This time around, Buff(ing) for BlizzCon will check in with the staffers who are on this particular quest to see what they're using and doing to help them reach their goals, and we'll offer a few suggestions of our own. We already know that if you're not doing anything at all, starting any kind of healthy eating and exercise routine will help. For those of you who have already gotten those under way -- keep on keeping on. For those of you who haven't, what are you waiting for? Extended maintenance?

The latest piece of information was definitely the most exciting for those interested in attending as we learn that Blizzcon Tickets will be on sale June 2nd and 5th. If the $150 ticket price is a bit out of your budget, you can get exhaustive coverage for $39.95 through a live internet stream or DirecTV. So do you plan to attend via either of those options? Blizzard has just announced when it will open up the rattling floodgates for BlizzCon 2010 ticket sales. Passes to the event will be sold in two separate chunks on Wednesday, June 2 at 7 p.m. PST and Saturday, June 5 at 10 a.m. PST. Folks interested in attending the Anaheim-based event will have to pony up a $150 entry fee. Given their proclivity for purchasing imaginary horses, we don't think diehard Blizzard fans have any qualms about parting with their hard-earned cash.
