We kind of ruined ourselves by hitting up the LG and Samsung booths first thing on friday: Toshiba's booth felt decidedly cramped in comparison, but it was still nicely laid out and stuffed with a surprising amount of product -- Toshiba even found the time to show of some gesture control and wall-touching concepts, which always warms the heart.%Gallery-6710%

The Sony booth screamed "budget cuts" after the Samsung and LG extravagance we had just witnessed -- at its worst moments, we though we were looking at Best Buy shelves -- but Sony isn't really putting out a lot of new product at this year's show, so it's understandable. We've already seen the new S-series in person anyways, which is pretty much Sony's highlight of the show, so we'll let 'em slide this year.%Gallery-6638%

We found LG's "booth" slightly less impressive than Samsung's, primarily due to the lack of a balcony cafe, which is just a serious oversight at this year's IFA -- all the cool Korean electronics giants are doing it. That said, LG is pretty serious about design these days, and has a lot of sexy product to prove it. Again, we'll be getting you hands-on shots of the new releases later today, but for now you'll have to settle for a stroll through hall 11.2 with us at the helm.%Gallery-6637%

Samsung's IFA "booth" is pretty much the 8th wonder of the world, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Taking up the entirety of one of the largest halls at IFA, there's quite a lot to see, and more TVs than you can shake a sleek black plastic stick at. We'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking, and be sure to stand by for our hands-on impressions of the fresh stuff later today.%Gallery-6636%

  • RED ONE hands-on, RED NAB booth tour

No way some amateurs like us are ever going to be worthy enough for a RED ONE -- which, as you may recall, was originally announced at NAB last year. But there it was, plain as day in their booth, ready to manhandle for anyone willing to wait in the 45 minute line to get in. The ONE isn't so large on its own, but kit it out with any of the copious amount of accessories RED is launching with it, and you'll get a good idea of how serious a rig it can become. We also caught a glimpse of their REDCINE software, which pre-processes all the raw output video you shot. Check it out; prepare to wish you too possessed the talent to bankroll a movie with one of these bad boys.%Gallery-2605%

  • 8-core Mac Pro hands-on, Apple NAB booth tour

Behold, Apple's mammoth, sprawling NAB booth. Ready to show off all the pro apps it announced yesterday, the Apple complex came complete with two demo theaters, dozens of demo kiosks, a few octo-core Mac Pros (which we finally got our hands on for a hands-on -- not that it looks any different), and a small army of black-clad employees ready to school you in the ways of pro media production. We asked for a Compressor 3 demo showing off the octo-Pro's multithreaded rendering, and while the demo didn't actually successfully wrap, we did get to see those eight cores burn through a bit of HD encoding right quick. Also, be sure to check out Apple's massive, 40 Xserve RAID equipped demo media SAN -- it's almost too much aluminum-clad enterprise gear.%Gallery-2604%

Sanyo had a bit of a twist this year at CES -- it was making a push for the environment. In between displays of HD camcorders and wireless projectors were numerous low consumption devices and solar powered chargers. Keep reading to see what you may have missed among the plethora of products that were on display this year.

How did Casio, arguably best known for its calculators and watches (and those cool little programmable synths that to this day no church choir goes without), hold its own against its more massive booth brethren? One word for you: bull. Click on for more action from the Casio rodeo tour.

Sharp was riding high on the success of its 108-inch LCD TV here at CES, and rightfully so, because it is amazing. However, that was not its only highlight of the show; as you will see in these photos, there were other wonders such as a multitude of displays and next-gen fax machines. Sharp booth tour

To call our tour of Sony Ericsson's booth at CES a "booth tour" is giving it entirely too much credit; for some reason, the world's fourth-largest manufacturer of mobile phones was relegated to a single meager kiosk within Sony's sprawling grounds (along with a handful of tie-ins with other Sony products strewn about elsewhere). Highlights included the ultra-glossy, ultra-colorful Z310 clamshell, the MBR-100 A2DP music receiver, and some much-needed quality time with the recently intro'd MBW-100 watch. Sadly, the W880 "Ai" wasn't on hand, but that gives us something to look forward to, right? Sony Ericsson booth tour

Nokia had a strong showing at this year's CES, coming to the table with the N800 Internet Tablet, the N93i, and the svelte, totally unexpected N76. Our favorite part, though, might have been the NFC demo -- Nokia really went all out to demo the capabilities of its 6131 NFC by showing movie posters, picture frames, and payment systems using the system. Heck, even the booth's inhabitants were tagged with their contact info. Nokia booth tour

After 10 years of absence IBM returns to CES and even after we visited their booth we weren't exactly sure why they were there. Sure they developed the chips in the latest game consoles, which they had on display. They also had a few other items like their Micro Drive and Virtual World software. IBM booth tour

After hearing about Best Buy's ConnectedLife.Home we wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so we headed over to the NextGen Home Experience. This home was a gadget lovers dream with every appliance in the house connected and all accessible via touch panels throughout the house. While we were very impressed with this level of home automation, $6,999 for a 12.1 touch panel seems a bit wacked. NextGen Home Tour

This year's Samsung booth (unlike shows past) is served up fresh, with a healthy dose of modesty. We looked hard but couldn't find a single World's First... , World's Largest..., or World's Fastest... placard anywhere at CES' largest booth. It's not like they didn't bring their "A" game -- only Sammy can take a sunrise and sprinkle it with dew -- they just toned it down this year, at last. Check the gallery below, you might just find a miracle or two. Samsung booth tour

What you're looking at up there is just one of dozens of mysterious items in Panasonic's booth here at CES. The booth fully supports Panny's theme for CES 2007: Living in High Definition. However, they're also trying hard to drive home their unofficial theme: "You're an idiot if you buy an LCD larger than 42-inches." Check the gallery below to see girls on a beach staked by high-zoom cameras and the creepy men this attracts. When you recover from that, test your skills at detecting the difference in 1080p vs. 720p panels -- most in the booth could not, can you? Panasonc's CES booth tour

It isn't quite so much a 'booth tour' as it is 'the biggest darn thing on the floor, bar none.' Apple is seriously pimping their two major forays into consumer electronics, and their gargantuan floor signage, two massive demonstration stages and rotating glass iPhone cases all but scream it out loud. Mac OS X Leopard, at least what we've already seen, is also on stage in between Apple TV and iPhone demos, and surrounding their staging area are long kiosk areas with consumer and pro level products and software laid out for exhibitors to play with if the Apple Store down the street is too busy.Check out our gallery of Apple 'booth' shots, and stay tuned for more booth tours both big and small.
