Lest you somehow be underwhelmed with the crossover wardrobe planned for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate's Felyne Palicoes, Street Fighter-themed outfits inspired by Chun-Li and Blanka are the latest garment options announced for your sidekicks. The above announcing trailer was shown during yesterday's Capcom Cup tournament, and yes, that Blanka Palico is wielding a giant fish for its weapon. Would you have it any other way? While the hunter outfits shown in the trailer's player cards resemble Dhalsim and Guile, Capcom Unity notes that they're "not a special bonus or anything" – rather, they "show how versatile the character creation system can be." If you're wondering what MH4U's crossover collection is up to at this point, announced hunter and Palico outfits will play tribute to Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Isabelle, Mr. Resetti, Sonic, Taiko Drum Master, Mega Man and the design strengths of Tetsuya Nomura. Hunters and Palicoes can start trying things on when MH4U reaches the States next year, complete with a collector's edition. [Image: Capcom]

  • Vega, Chun Li figurines ready for pre-order from Tsume-Art

Ultra Street Fighter 4 will stoke the flames of rivalries in June, but perfecting frame-perfect combos isn't the only way to appreciate the newest entry to the Street Fighter series. Actually, you don't even need to have played SF4 to appreciate these - Tsume-Art's Chun Li and Vega figurines should work just fine for any Street Fighter fan. While Tsume-Art notes that fans should expect "full availability" of both figurines in the second quarter of 2014, you can put your quarter up to claim your place in line right now. Each figurine is 1/8 scale, leaving the tribute to Vega's wall-climbing tendencies at 35 centimeters and Chun Li's soaring kick at 28 centimeters. Both are sculpted from PVC and are available for preorder at €119.90 each ($162). They're pricey, no doubt, but both fighters make a great first impression. If we bought both, we could probably reenact the dozens of times Vega taunted us from the walls of SF2 ... right before he slaughtered us in midair.

We're not entirely sure why Street Fighter's 25th anniversary equates to a cross-promotional merchandising deal with Sanrio, but man are we glad that it does. Not only do we get adorable figures and plushies out of the partnership, but now Mad Catz has introduced a line of Street Fighter X Sanrio products that are both the cutest and have practical applications beyond said cuteness.Obviously, the Street Fighter X Sanrio Fighstick Pro (above) tugs at a very, very specific part of our heart, even if it does cost $160. While not stated specifically in any of its promotional materials, we feel it's safe to assume the arcade stick uses the same Sanwa Denshi parts as the Street Fighter X Tekken Fightstick Pro models it's based on. Just, you know, very pink. The line also includes iPhone 5 and iPad 2/3 cases in your choice of Hello Kitty Chun-Li or Hello Kitty Ryu flavors, which run for $35 and $45 respectively and can be seen in the gallery below.%Gallery-173109%

  • Capcom and iam8bit remember 25 Years of Street Fighter with art gallery

Last night in iam8bit's Los Angeles headquarters, Capcom opened up its 25 Years of Street Fighter show, revealing a full gallery of artists' work featuring the now classic fighting game characters and settings. In a launch event open to the public, visitors got to see (and buy) the art on display, take pictures in front of a Street Fighter background, and even smash up a car pinata in a tribute to the games' Bonus Round mechanic. Gabe Swarr was one of the artists in attendance last night - his piece in the show, a comic from his Life in the Analog Age series, was a little more personal than all of the various representations of Chun Li, Ryu, and Blanka. In it, he portrays the change that Street Fighter brought to the arcades when it debuted, from sillier games featuring monkeys and spaceships to fire punches and spinning kicks. "Right when Street Fighter started there were two different crowds at that point," says Swarr, "and I wanted to remember that shift in the arcades." Swarr says that Street Fighter as a brand has lasted so long because its characters were so identifiable. Not only are these archetypal characters easy to connect to, but "it's also an international thing," he says. "It's one of the first games where they say this guy's from Brazil, this guy's from Japan and this guy's from the US. They did a really great job of incorporating that into the game." "You could tell that that was like the basis for all the fighting games afterwards," Swarr says. "This was the template that everyone followed." Capcom's 25 Years of Street Fighter show is running at iam8bit through August 19. You can see what's on display there in the gallery below.%Gallery-161786%

The Chun Li Hello Kitty plushies available at Comic-Con last weekend were sold out by Saturday morning, but there is still hope for the thousands of remaining fans clamoring to get their hands on one. The Hello Kitty Ryu, M. Bison and Chun Li plushies pictured in their Comic-Con display above are soon coming to "as many stores as we can get them into," a Capcom booth employee told us. He mentioned specifically Hot Topic, Sanrio stores and Toys 'R' Us as possiblities for the plushies, which are "Series 1" in a planned line of Hello Kitty X Street Fighter toys.

Yes, these cute little bobble-headed cubicle companions are completely adorable, but that doesn't mean they've forgotten how important it is to maintain a gruff, battle-ready demeanor. Well, except for Chun-Li. She looks pretty pleased with her chibi characterization as a tiny plastic plaything.Landing sometime next month, Series 1 of Bobble Budds' Street Fighter line includes Blanka, Sagat, Ryu and Chun-Li, and can be pre-ordered as a $39.96 set from State of the Art Toys. The budds will also be available at the Capcom Store and other "selected online retailers" once they launch.%Gallery-150729%

  • iPhone Street Fighter IV has eight characters, will cost $10

GamePro has dropped some details on the iPhone version of Street Fighter IV, which is due out in March. The site has word that Capcom will sell the game for $9.99 on Apple's App Store, and that it will feature a total of eight characters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison and Abel. While it hasn't shared any gameplay impressions yet, it did post a video, which you can see after the break. Surprisingly, the game looks just like Street Fighter IV, with the ultra moves, same colorful art style and other graphical touches from the bigger console versions. We're still not sure about playing with the touchscreen "buttons," though -- while they aren't in the way as much as we thought from the original screenshots (most of the fighting takes place in the middle of the screen), not having that tactile feedback could be a problem. Still, the game looks good. No exact release date yet, but like all those people hanging out in the backgrounds of these fights, we'll be watching. %Gallery-86253%

  • Behold the vacant stare of the Chun-Li action figure

NECA has a long history of crowding our shelves with action figures, and while we're accustomed to emptying our wallets for these plastic diversions without question there's just something about this latest Chun Li figure that looks a little ... off. Set for release in August, she's one of a three new NECA toys based on Street Fighter IV, including figures modeled after Akuma and Guile as well. And while each of the figs has their own unique quirks, maybe it's Chun Li's oddly-defined muscles or creepy blank stare that's weirding us right out. On second thought, it's gotta be the hands. They're just way too small.

We're trying to decide what's more embarrassing to Chun-Li. Is it that her movie, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li came in eighth place in the weekend box office chart with just $4.7 million? Or is it that she was beat by an animated character, tween sensations the Jonas Brothers, that abysmal mall cop movie and a guy pretending to be an old black woman? It's a tough blow, but at least you know it's not the most humiliating celluloid-related debacle she's ever been through, as long as this NSFW gem is in her past. Whether she's turning aside blows in Street Fighter IV or audiences in her very own motion picture, Chun Li has certainly made multitasking an art. A martial art, if you will. Now Siliconera has caught Capcom's favorite gal gambling as the star of a pachislot machine. Where does she find the time?Titled Chun-Li Ni Makase China, the machine allows players to see Chun Li pummel cars and other fighters into submission as they empty their pockets of loose change. The skill stop machine is just one of several of slots in Capcom's Pachislo machine business, which include an earlier released Street Fighter II slot as well as machines based on Devil May Cry 3 and Biohazard. However, Capcom noted in a financial briefing that Chun-Li Ni Makase China has "struggled" since its release. Apparently gamblers just aren't captivated by Miss Li's massive coin operated thighs.

Capcom has released the "Femme Fatale," a set of alternate costumes for the ladies of Street Fighter IV. The DLC is the second in the alternative wardrobe series, following the "Brawler Pack," and will set fashionistas back 320 ($4) on XBLM, and $3.99 on the PS Store. Having watched the first two minutes of Capcom's video showcasing the outfits, only one thought comes to mind: Moar liek booty pack, lolz. Check out the video after the break.%Gallery-43953%

Just as Japanese players were warming up to Chun Li's massive paws in Street Fighter IV, Kristin Kreuk was fending off man hands herself during a Tokyo press event promoting the upcoming release of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. While smiling and nodding to onlooking cameras and attending press, the February 12 event saw the former Smallville actress face off against another Chun-Li impersonator, this time of the male variety, with ridiculous results. Bask in the absurdity at Game Watch, knowing full well this is better than anything we're going to see on the big screen.

She may lack the twinkle in Kristin Kreuk's eye, but any lack in feminine wiles are more than made up for in burlap charm. Sony has confirmed earlier rumors that Chun Li and company will be taking their fight to LittleBigPlanet as the platformer's latest adorable costumes. Available Thursday from the PlayStation Store, the set will include Sackitized Street Fighters Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile and Zangief. The outfits will set you back $1.99 each. Earlier this month, Capcom hinted at a "little" surprise they'd be dropping on the PSN during the holiday season, leading many fans to the conclusion that Street Fighter's iconic brawlers would soon be inhabiting LittleBigPlanet. RipTen recently spotted what may be the first images of the suggested costumes on Spanish PlayStation community site PSNow -- including adorable, Sackitized versions of Chun-Li, Guile, Zangief and Ryu.It's unclear where PSNow dug up the images, but they certainly look legitimate. However, you should take time to view the rumored costumes while you still can, as SCEE has asked a number of sites to take the images down. Make of that what you will -- we're fairly certain it has something to do with the indecent nature of Sack-Zangief's exposed Sack-nipples.[Via 1UP]

  • Who would you take Home? Chris Redfield or Chun-Li?

When PlayStation Home launches later this year, you won't have to choose.Capcom, one of new publishers for Home announced earlier this week, is showing off the content they'll be providing. We've got four videos for you right after the jump -- the first one begins with Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono explaining the content for Home. But even if your foreign language skills are limited, you can still enjoy seeing Chun-Li do her famous victory jump. Chris Redfield makes an appearance in the second video, but it seems like his Home incarnation doesn't hit the gym quite as often. The Gran Turismo 5 demo showcases a couple racing pods (check out a variation of it here) for your virtual pad. Lastly, Sony recreated their TGS booth in Home at the company's press conference. • Chun-Li's massive hands cause for concern in Street Fighter IV

    04.21.2008

Criticisms of the visual style of Street Fighter IV are a dime a dozen, ranging from gripes about exaggerated facial expressions to attacks on the, erm, girth of Chun-Li's thigh muscles. Now, it seems that the poor Chinese Interpol agent is once again under attack, though this time for the bizarre proportions of her hands.A few new art shots on Capcom's official Street Fighter IV website have caught the attention of 1UP's Kris Pigna, who's become mono-maniacally focused on the portrayal of Chun-Li's appendages. We have to admit, the above image has given us pause as well. Not only is her one hand abnormally large -- and featuring a bizarre growth between her thumb and forefinger -- but her other hand is downright monstrous, with thick calloused digits and yellowed fingernails. Let's just hope this is an artistic snafu, and not some crazy new backstory about Chun-Li's mutant transformation.

Remember that Street Fighter film we heard about a while back? Remember how we thought Jessica Biel might be playing the lead role of Chun Li? Well, it turns out it's Kristin Kreuk instead, everybody's favorite Lana Lang.ComingSoon.net reports that the Smallville star has signed on to star in Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li, the live-action adaptation of Capcom's classic fighting franchise. Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, 20th Century Fox will be distributing the film, which begins filming in Thailand next March. Will Kreuk be able to fill Chun-Li's tiny shoes? And, more importantly, does she know how to perform the Hyakuretsu Kyaku? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The Insert Credit site has the news that the Korean online fighting game Perfect KO (which enters Beta test this month), will feature the Street Fighter characters Ken and Chun Li as playable avatars. The licensing deal for this unique Asian-aimed title surprised commentator Brandon Sheffield: It's interesting for a few reasons - one is that the characters are customizable, so you'll be able to tailor your SF folks a bit. Another is that the company has stated (according to the second linked article) that they're open to more licenses in the future from other fighting games. And in fact, it's quite interesting that they'll be 3D. Who will provide the models, I wonder? The news comes originally from the Japanese gaming site 4gamer (babelfish translation). Perfect KO is in development by the company Neowiz, makers of titles like Silk Road, Shot Online, and SEALS Online. The best example of the game's playstyle I could find is a YouTube trailer for the title. (Sound is NSFW, as there is a Linken Park song dubbed over the footage; video should be fine.)

Say what?! LatinoReview.com claims to have a casting scoop that pits Jessica Biel as Chun-Li in the upcoming film adaptation of Street Fighter. Since the film will apparently focus on the Chinese-born Interpol agent turned 'World Warrior' contestant, the creators are after a star that can deliver a roundhouse kick -- and look sexy while doing it. (CGI will handle the ol' Hyakuretsukyaku.) It appears that the casting department didn't bother to sift through Hollywood's stagnant pool of Chinese -- or even passable as Chinese -- actresses; so no, Ming-Na will not be reprising the role. Although Keira Knightley and Jessica Alba were alleged targets, both turned down the potentially career-damaging part. Now Hyde Park Entertainment and Fox are supposedly after Biel.As rumors go this one is absurd. But that's better than if the claim was true ... 'cause then it would be offensive. What's next? Sam Jackson as Ryu? Capcom, please keep this project in check and hush these awful lies. They are lies, right...?

As memory of Jean-Claude Van Damme's ill-fated epic fades, Capcom will again try its hand at a Street Fighter film adaptation, enlisting the aid of Hyde Park Entertainment (production company behind Seabiscuit-knockoff Dreamer). Justin Marks (Voltron) is on screenplay duty and will reportedly focus the plot on Chun-Li. There has been no confirmation of a new shower scene. The Street Fighter movie's release is set to coincide with the franchise's 20th anniversary in 2008. Hyde Park will shop the project around this week at the American Film Market in Santa Monica.
