With lockdowns starting today in the UK and last week in France, Apple Stores in those countries are switching gears. Starting tomorrow (November 6th) in the UK, Apple will switch stores over to Storefront service, offering “click-and-collect” pickup only and no Genius bar or shopping.

In a bid to deal another blow to bricks-and-mortar stores in the UK, Amazon is branching out into same-day deliveries. It's teamed up with newspaper distributor Connect Group to launch "Pass My Parcel," which will ensure packages are sent free to local shops and high street stores across Britain within 12 hours until the end of the year, if you have a Prime subscription (£4.99 for non-members). If you've previously used the online retail giant's "Click & Collect" service, you'll be familiar with how Pass My Parcel works, but your package will now arrive a whole lot quicker.

If you love to eBay but are constantly making trips to the Post Office to collect a missed delivery, your nearest Argos store could soon come to your rescue. The two companies have extended their click-and-collect partnership, which began with 50 eBay sellers and 150 stores in September, to encompass 650 stores and over 65,000 eBay sellers by the end of this year. That means where the click and collect delivery option is available at the eBay checkout, you select your nearest store and pick up your purchase(s) whenever it's convenient. With Amazon installing more click-and-collect lockers across the UK, eBay also wants to fit around people's busy schedules. Argos gets more people in through its doors too, allowing it to do something that Amazon isn't able to (yet): get face-to-face with customers.

If work commitments mean you're constantly trudging to the Post Office to collect a missed Prime delivery, Amazon's hoping to make things easier for you, if you're a Londoner that is. As of Monday, the company will open click-and-collect lockers in Finchley Central and Newbury Park Tube stations, where you can have packages delivered instead of an address. They come seven months after the retailer was rumoured to have begun talks with Transport for London with a view to installing the lockers inside unused ticket offices. However, Amazon has placed them inside the stations' car parks instead, meaning you might have to take a small Oyster hit for the privilege. Amazon won't be alone in offering collections on the Underground, though, as major supermarket chains including Tesco, Asda, Waitrose and Sainsbury's are installing lockers of their own to limit the hassle of shopping around work.
