    11.25.2011

Black Friday sales started ridiculously early for Americans this year, with stores opening at midnight on Friday and even 10:00 p.m on Thursday in some cases. Thanks to that, you've probably done your shopping, hauled your loot home, and recovered from the insanity as you read this. Alternatively, you avoided the insanity entirely because really, a cheap Blu-Ray player isn't worth the risk of death by trampling. In either case, if you're in the U.S., you're hanging out at home enjoying your day off work or school, ready to indulge in some gaming. The developers at Spiral Knights are right there with you and have whipped up a cool little accessory for your Spiral Knights characters. The Regal Parrying Blade is a decorative sword that you can get only here at Massively. All you need to do is visit our giveaway page to pick up a code, then log into Spiral Knights. Click on the "gear" icon in the top corner of your game screen, select "redeem code" from the options menu, and enter your code. Voila, you're the proud owner of a brand-new Regal Parrying Blade. Join us in thanking the Spiral Knights team for this gift, and have fun!

As you may know from Dillimayznyerk's frantic shouting on the recent trailer, Aion's Shugo Event Showcase is officially underway. The double XP is great, sure, but how about a little something extra? And as always we're passing them on to you, our readers. We have 10 prize bundles, each containing one Fabled Supplement and one Eternal Supplement (valued at $9.99 each, so about $20 per prize!). All you have to do to enter is let us know how you're planning to take advantage of the Shugo Event Showcase. Will you be chasing Crafting XP? How about Gathering XP? Will you be logging into Aion in the hopes of snagging some of the additional prizes floating around? Let us know here in the comments by noon EST tomorrow, November 22nd. Once the deadline hits, we'll choose 10 winners and send out prizes. It's important to note that the codes we've been given are only valid on the NA servers, so you need to be playing there in order to use them. Ready to enter? 11.16.2011

EverQuest's 18th expansion launched yesterday, complete with a level cap raise and plenty of new content and tweaks. Veil of Alaris is an exciting addition to the game for both players and developers, and the EverQuest team has decided to mark the occasion with a little gift. The developers have sent us a copy of EverQuest: The 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition, a large hardcover book filled with interviews, art, the original storyline, and much more. There's also one more little detail: our copy is signed by the original development team from 1999. That's right, just inside the cover are the signatures of the 18 people who first created the world of EverQuest. Of course, we're not keeping it for ourselves; we're passing it on to one of you. So what do you need to do to get your hands on this book? Simply leave us a comment here telling us about your earliest experience with EverQuest. It can be anything you like -- people you met, your overall thoughts and impressions as you entered the world, even a particular quest or battle that made you say, "This is it -- I love this game." Leave your comment before this Friday, November 18th, at 11:59 p.m. EST. We'll choose and contact our favorite over the weekend and send the book to the winner Monday. Ready? Head down memory lane, and good luck! [UPDATE: Our winner has been chosen and contacted. Thanks to all who entered!]

Are you one of the many people coming up for air this morning after a weekend chock full of Star Wars: The Old Republic beta testing? Have you yet to experience the game in much more than YouTube videos and reviews at this point? Either way, this is your lucky day, because the kind folks at BioWare have sent us a truckload of keys for the next round of SWTOR beta testing! We have 75,000 keys to share with those of you who are registered for the testing program. What's that you say? You're not yet? Well, go remedy that quickly -- we'll wait. All set? Perfect! Now just grab a key from our giveaway page linked below and redeem it as soon as possible. This batch of beta keys MUST be redeemed by this Friday, November 18th, at 12:59 p.m. EST, at which time they will expire. The date of the next round of testing has not been announced yet, but BioWare is clear that everyone with a key will receive an invitation approximately seven to 10 days before the test. When the test starts, BioWare will begin inviting groups of players every 24 hours until they've invited everyone with a key into the test. They also say that the test will run approximately four days, giving some players more time to play than others. Also, BioWare has cautioned that if you're already a regular beta tester for SWTOR, don't grab one of these beta weekend keys as it may jeopardize your chances. More info on that is here. Ready for your key? Click the link below, then keep an eye on your email for that invitation! [Sorry, all codes have been claimed]

Rusty Hearts, the free-to-play hack-and-slash title from Perfect World Entertainment, launched its second major content update today. The update, titled Cells of Darkness, brings a higher level cap, new zones, and new dungeons to the game, along with much more. Given the title, we think it's no surprise that Cells of Darkness has a decidedly creepy feel. The new Cemetery district features a new Pet Shed as well as Pet Resurrection. The four new dungeons -- the Conservatory, Arboretum, Quarantined Labs, and Debtor's Prison -- provide a trip through mad-scientist land as players head toward the new level cap of 36. The developers have also unveiled a long list of new skills and weapons for everyone. Cells of Darkness promises enough new content to keep even the most hardcore Rusty Hearts fan busy for a long time. Even better, the team at Perfect World Entertainment has given us a pile of booster packages to share with you! The packages includes a +5% physical attack scroll and the Hard Work and Effort title, a very rare title that gives big boosts to HP and mana. To get your booster package, simply visit our giveaway page, claim a code, then head to the Rusty Hearts redemption page. Make sure you're logged into your Perfect World account, enter the code in the box, then select the server and character you wish to receive the items. Click submit, then log into Rusty Hearts and check your mail. Enjoy your new booster package as well as Cells of Darkness, and thanks to Perfect World Entertainment for the gifts! The open beta for Flyff's newest expansion has gone through a brief delay, not quite meeting its original set date of October 28th. That day has arrived, and you can download the open beta exclusively through Massively. It couldn't be simpler; just use this download link and you're on your way! If you're looking for something to do while the beta client is installing, we've got you covered on that front as well. We're still a month away from the holiday that invariably fills every game with ghosts and ghouls, but that's no reason not to get started on your Halloween plans. Especially if your plans involve the annual Guild Wars contest, a chance for players to show off their creativity by designing some game-themed art. And this year, one of the prizes includes the small sensation that's sweeping the nation, the Charr plush doll pictured above. Running until October 13th, the contest calls for players to submit a photo of their work in .JPG format for ease of viewing. This year's prizes are split between the general art category and costumes, with both sides receiving the same lineup of offerings. Win the Grand Prize, First Prize, or Second Prize, and you'll be able to call one of the adorable fiery harbingers of destruction your own. Make sure to take a look at the official rules, and then you should probably buckle down and start working on that Dervish outfit.

Guild Wars 2 fans attending PAX may have noticed an extra attendee roaming the show floor: the fiercely cute Charr plushie. According to the tag on his backside, he goes by the name Charrlie, and it seemed like every ArenaNet devotee at PAX wanted to nab one for his or her very own. That time has arrived a little sooner than most fans expected -- as of right now, the little guys can be purchased in the Penny Arcade store for $34.99. Even better, we've got one here at Massively to share with a lucky reader! All you need to do is leave a comment telling us why you should be the winner.
