    The first in-the-wild BlueKeep cyberattack isn't as dangerous as feared

    When word broke of the BlueKeep vulnerability in Windows, many feared a repeat of NotPetya and other widespread worms that have wreaked havoc. They might not have to worry quite so much, though. Kryptos Logic has discovered the first known in-the-wild BlueKeep exploit, and it isn't as vicious as feared. The initial attack from a "low-level actor" appears to have scanned the internet and infected vulnerable systems with a cryptocurrency miner, but little else. There are no data wipes, no automatic spreading or other signs of a worm in action.

    Google no longer welcomes crypto-miners on the Play Store

    Google has updated its Play Store policy, and it's clear that the fresh set of rules was created to keep out the new types of unsavory and unsafe content popping out these days. One of the changes Android Police has spotted is the addition of a cryptocurrencies section, wherein the tech giant states that crypto-miners are no longer allowed on its app marketplace. Applications that can manage crypto-miners are A-OK, but miners themselves are no longer welcome.

    Apple takes a stance on crypto-miners in apps

    Calendar 2, the Mac App that rolled out an update bundled with a crypto-miner that went berserk, was removed from iTunes shortly after news of its controversial new feature came out. Now, its developer has provided more details about what happened, giving us an idea of how Apple will deal with apps loaded with cryptocurrency miners in the future. Gregory Magarshak, founder of Calendar 2's developer Qbix, told us that his company didn't pull the app. Apple was the one that yanked it around an hour after the developer announced that it's removing the miner altogether, making its stance on apps with crypto-miners a bit clearer than before.
