How many crime-detective dramas does Netflix have now? Not enough, apparently. Today, the company released its first (proper) trailer for Criminal, a 12-episode series set entirely in police interrogation rooms. The show is split across four countries -- France, Spain, Germany and the UK -- and every episode will be a unique story. Participating in the cat-and-mouse mind games are David Tennant (Doctor Who) and Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter), among others. In the 60-second trailer, we catch a glimpse of the nervous suspects and 'are they innocent?' police discussions that will permeate the series. The full show is out on September 20th -- perfect timing for people who have already gobbled up Mindhunter season two.

Once you've won the hearts of a planet as the dashing lead in a science fantasy show, you're faced with the lingering specter of typecasting. One actor who has managed to avoid such perils is David Tennant, who has thrown himself into any - and every - role imaginable to avoid being known as just The 10th Doctor. Now, however, the Scotsman is returning to the genre that made his name, after taking a role as the villain in Marvel and Netflix's forthcoming A.K.A. Jessica Jones. There's some more detail after the break, but be warned: there might be some spoilers.

  • David Tennant is the 'voice of God' in Kinect Sports Rivals

Former Doctor Who star David Tennant is providing Kinect Sports Rivals with his hearty Scottish lilt - officially he's the game's narrator, but we prefer the actor's own description of the "voice of God." If you've only heard Tennant in his role as television's greatest time-traveler - sorry, Sam Beckett - then yes, that Scottish accent he put on in the episode with Queen Victoria is closer to the real thing. Tennant says it's the first video game he's provided voice work for, and that's surprising given how the BBC likes to pump out Doctor Who games. Luckily for Tennant, by the time puzzle-platformer The Eternity Clock arrived in 2012 he'd jumped ship, leaving poor Matt Smith to fend for himself. As for Kinect Sports Rivals, Rare's new collection of motion-controlled mini-games is coming to North America, Australia and New Zealand on April 8 and Europe on April 11. Sportsball fans can take on tennis, bowling, soccer, target shooting, climbing, and wave racing in the Xbox One game. [Image: Microsoft]

  • Polar bears destroy robot spy cams, show no remorse (video)

Iceberg Cam, Snowball Cam, Blizzard Cam and Drift Cam were the arctic photographer's best friends -- high-tech spy robot cameras designed to resist cold and traverse sub-zero terrain. Then they got crushed to death by giant polar bears while attempting to make friends. Seriously, that's the basic gist of Polar Bear: Spy on the Ice, a new BBC documentary which began airing last week, and which just so happens to be narrated by David Tennant. Hope he's got a screwdriver handy, if you know what we mean. Watch the bears play a spirited match of robot football after the break, then see all the lovely mechanical carnage in a third video at our source link.

Have you ever had a device that you wanted to make just a little bit more sonic? Have you ever been up late, measuring rooms and thought: "Could I approach this task with an iPhone? Sonically?" Fortunately for you, the good people at Laan Consulting have already thought of this. They've anticipated this eventuality and are now shipping the iPhone Sonar Ruler [iTunes link] for just a buck on the iTunes Store. Yes, these good folk have imbued the iPhone with sonic goodness. As the video on the next page shows, the application sends short pulses and measures their return delay. Sure, you could go out to Office Depot and spend twenty bucks getting a far more reliable, dedicated unit but isn't it more fun to help support iPhone devs while really pushing the device beyond its design intent? And don't forget: Bananas are good. They are excellent sources of potassium. Thanks to Neekers
