Sony's got a thing for 82-inch displays, and sure enough, it's showcasing yet another iteration at this CES. This go 'round, the display being highlighted was displaying content at 4K -- well, when it wasn't showing four separate screens at 1080p apiece, that is. Drooling yet? Veronica Belmont from Mahalo Daily is waiting just beyond the break to walk you through.

'Course, Sony's already offering up an 11-inch version for those with cash to burn, but this one's not nearly as ready to sneak into your home. Still, you know you can't resist taking a peek, so jump on through and start dreaming, alright?

Looking for even more ways to simply your data transfers? If so, you should definitely check out Sony's TransferJet, which enables certain gadgets (i.e. camcorders, etc.) to transfer data sans wires to a PC by simply placing it atop a wireless field unit. Granted, it didn't seem to work so smoothly at Sony's press conference -- surprised? -- but here's to hoping the kinks get ironed out before it goes commercial. You know the drill, click on through and let Mahalo Daily's Veronica Belmont lead the way.

Ever wished you could reproduce those super-slow-motion shots taken by the pros. Now you can, with a catch. Casio's new EX-F1 can record full motion video at 1200fps. That's enough frames to catch water droplets fall in unbelievably detailed flight. Unfortunately, the EX-F1 scales things back to a tiny 336x96 resolution at that full 1200fps. Still, the results are startling even when set at 300fps (with the bonus of a much higher resolution) when compared to a typical camera's 30fps recordings. See for yourself after the break.

Ok, we'll cop-to. We've got a hankerin' for Casio's new EX-F1. The same unit we went hands-on with back in October is back only now in a production body rockin' that same 60fps frame rate. Hell, don't listen to us swoon though, check the video hands-on after the break and let Casio walk you through the details highlighted by a 15 shot burst (with flash!) blinding of a Casio colleague.

Nestled comfortably somewhere between its myriad PMPs and Patriot UMPC, Aigo has developed its very own mobile internet device (or MID as the kids are calling them nowadays). The device is captured on video, notably hosted on the very same YouTube account as yesterday's Lenovo MID vid. While it's hard to get a real feel for the size and depth of the unit from the video embedded below, a few things are evident: the interface is pretty familiar (more like iGo, right?), it has a slide-out keyboard ala UMPC, and it doesn't have any trouble playing those YouTube videos. Now how about some more info, eh Aigo?

As you've surely saw in our liveblog of the Toshiba press conference, the firm went wild with new LCD releases for 2008. The overriding theme was thinness and early release dates, with essentially every set listed shipping by April. We'll get down to the dirt: two new 720p sets were introduced -- the AV500 and REGZA CV510 -- the first of which will be available in sizes ranging from 19- to 42-inches and feature DynaLight, HDMI and a PC input, while the latter will only be available in 32- / 37-inch sizes and sport PixelPure4G 14-bit internal processing, a 1.5-inc ThinLine Bezel design and a trio of HDMI 1.3 ports. We'd been waiting to check out LG's new MPH North American mobile television system here at CES, and Mahalo Daily's Veronica Belmont has the skinny for us: like we'd heard, the system plugs into existing TV transmitters relatively easily, and LG says it's signed deals with over 800 broadcasters for launch in 2009 already. • Video: Hands-on with LG's MPH mobile broadcast standard

    01.06.2008

In the wake of LG's press conference today we're still a little skeptical that the world needs yet another standard for mobile TV, but for what it's worth, the company appears to have signed up a variety of partners in an effort to push it -- and they certainly brought enough eye candy hardware with prototype MPH hardware already integrated. In the mix was a modified VX9400, an LG laptop, a portable media player, and a USB dongle, and with the first commercial rollouts expected as soon as February of next year, we figure it's a good thing they have so much actual product to show. We're a little miffed at the idea that the standard is robbing sweet, sweet bandwidth from the traditional ATSC signal (as opposed to, say, DVB-H and MediaFLO, which rock their own frequencies), but we can also appreciate why this might speed mobile TV rollouts due to a significantly reduced dedicated infrastructure footprint. And besides, who isn't excited about the prospect of watching the boob tube at 140 miles per hour?

We're a little disappointed that we didn't get to see exactly how much personality WowWee's Mr. Personality had in him, but Mahalo Daily's Veronica Belmont scored some facetime with the Tribot, and we'll admit that his three-wheeled dancing moves are pretty impressive. The Wireless USB packing Toshiba Portege R400 makes an encore performance at CES 2008 in hopes of putting your bandwidth fears to rest. Pushing data at 377Mbps (of a theoretical 480Mbps at 3-meters), you're looking at 1,920 x 1,080 pixel video sourced from the R400 and displayed on a prototype WUSB monitor sitting a few inches away. Not bad, eh?
