What we bought: How YNAB gives me peace of mind and keeps my money in check
I thought I was budgeting when I was really just expense tracking. The budgeting app You Need a Budget helped me organized my finances and plan for the future — here's how.
What we bought: Our favorite gadgets of 2023
These are the best gadgets Engadget editors bought this year.
What we bought: Casio’s latest flagship digital piano doubles as drool-worthy furniture
Casio’s latest flagship digital piano, the Privia PX-S7000 is an 88-key instrument that actually sounds like the real thing, thanks to a nifty quad-speaker system. It also feels like playing a piano, via the company’s hybrid hammer action keys. Finally, it looks great, which may not be important for most musical instruments, but is for a large piano that will likely sit in your living room.
What we bought: The self-emptying litter box that'll also empty your bank account
The Casa Leo’s Loo Too litter box is self-cleaning and filled with high-tech bells and whistles. It weighs your cat every time they use it and provides some minor health data. It also cleans itself via UV lights. It also costs $650, though that’s in line with the rest of the industry.
'Pizza Tower' is the 'Wario Land' + 'Sonic' crossover I didn’t know I wanted
The madcap Pizza Tower is part Wario Land, part Sonic the Hedgehog and one of the best 2D platformers I've played in years.
What we bought: Engadget’s favorite backpacks
We at Engadget have gone through many backpacks and bags -- some much better than others. Here's a list of our current favorite backpacks for school, work and everything in between.
What we bought: The last gamepad I’ll need to buy for Switch and PC
8BitDo's Ultimate Bluetooth Controller is built to avoid the scourge of stick drift, and it's a quality gamepad in most of the other areas that count, too.
What we bought: I’m ashamed of how much I love Sage’s Creatista Plus
I’m never one to buy a product and then instantly pitch it our IRL strand, because I’m always worried that I’m still in the honeymoon period. I much prefer to use something that I’ve bought for months, or years, before I feel compelled to tell the world if it’s any good. But while I’ve had my Sage Creatista Plus for, now, just over a month, I already think it’s one of the better gadget purchases I’ve made in a while.
What we bought: Are touch-activated faucets smart or silly?
After my kitchen faucet sprung a leak, I went on a potentially foolish quest to see if today's new-fangled touch-activated faucets are worth it or a waste of money.
What we bought: Our favorite small kitchen essentials
Here's a list of the best small kitchen tools you can buy, as chosen by Engadget editors.
What we bought: The Breville Juice Fountain Plus is a surprisingly useful jet engine
There's a tiny jet engine inside the Breville Juice Fountain Plus that extracts liquid from even the driest produce you throw at it.
What we bought: Thrustmaster’s T300RS GT Edition has made my digital driving a joy
Racing games get even better when you introduce more physicality into them. Thrustmaster’s T300RS GT Edition racing wheel is one I'd recommend to first-timers looking to step up their digital driving chops.
What we bought: Topre’s Realforce keyboard is totally impractical, but I can’t go back
Topre keyboards are an acquired taste and come with a serious premium, but for me, their luxurious feel is something most traditional mechanical keyboards can't match.
What we bought: I sold my car and bought this e-bike instead
After we sold one of our cars, we bought a Rad Power RadRunner Plus e-bike and I'm very glad we did.
What we bought: The standing desk I chose after researching the hell out of the competition
I bought an Uplift standing desk two years ago and now the thought of a normal desk makes no sense to me.
What we bought: Our favorite gadgets of 2022
Here's a list of all of Engadget's favorite gadgets that we personally bought in 2022.
What we bought: The Retroid Pocket 3 is my own personal retro-game museum
Retroid's Pocket 3 handheld requires some homework to use, but it’s become my own personal monument to classic game design.
What we bought: The NuPhy Air75 is the low-profile, Mac-friendly mechanical keyboard I’ve been looking for
I decided on a whim to look into the mechanical keyboard world a little more. It took me weeks of research, but I finally found one that seems to fit all my needs: the NuPhy Air75.
What we bought: Why I still use a $15 pair of wired Panasonic earbuds every day
The Panasonic RP-PCM125 ErgoFit are basic $15 earbuds, but they're a prime example of good "beater" headphones, the kind you can toss in your pocket and use when throwing on your best pair isn't as convenient.
What we bought: How Zwilling’s Cool Touch Kettle became my most-used kitchen gadget
Zwilling's electric kettle isn't cheap, but it beats every other water-boiling method I've tried.
