A Japanese cosmetics company found its perfect pitch man: Guile

The trend of video game characters hawking real-life products doesn't seem to be slowing, but this time it's a classic character capitalizing on the right opportunity. Guile's unmoving 'do makes him the perfect imaginary person to endorse J-Gel, which is made by a cosmetics company that Kotaku says has been in the business since 1615. Even in defeat the Street Fighter character's hair hardly moves, which makes us wonder why this tie-in didn't happen sooner? (Although, if Capcom is ready to license, someone has a few ideas for what comes next.)

It still feels weird that Street Fighter V launched without Guile, one of the series' most iconic characters, but developer Capcom is fixing that. Later this month, the well-coiffed world warrior will be a free download until the Zenny store (uses real money and currency earned from playing the game) fully launches. His Air Force base stage will be available for 70,000 in-game credits as the first post-launch arena, but if you ponied up for the season pass you'll get it for free, along with an alternate costume for Guile.

Ever been playing vanilla Street Fighter IV and thought to yourself, "Man, this Guile character sure could be more Guile-like!"? Really? Wow, Capcom must be reading your mind! In Super Street Fighter IV, the developer claims to have taken Guile and made him, uh, himself again. According to Capcom-Unity, beyond the tweaks to Guile, "Vega got helpful buffs, Dhalsim does more damage (!), M. Bison's psycho crusher has become a scary move again, and Sagat can still be a beast even without making you feel like you got robbed when he beats you." Well then! Additionally, in a future dev blog update, Capcom has promised to reveal details about the tweaks to El Fuerte, C.Viper, Abel, Rufus, Seth, Akuma, and Gouken. So, will Gouken be even more Gouken-like? The suspense is killing us!

GamePro has dropped some details on the iPhone version of Street Fighter IV, which is due out in March. The site has word that Capcom will sell the game for $9.99 on Apple's App Store, and that it will feature a total of eight characters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison and Abel. While it hasn't shared any gameplay impressions yet, it did post a video, which you can see after the break. Surprisingly, the game looks just like Street Fighter IV, with the ultra moves, same colorful art style and other graphical touches from the bigger console versions. We're still not sure about playing with the touchscreen "buttons," though -- while they aren't in the way as much as we thought from the original screenshots (most of the fighting takes place in the middle of the screen), not having that tactile feedback could be a problem. Still, the game looks good. No exact release date yet, but like all those people hanging out in the backgrounds of these fights, we'll be watching. %Gallery-86253%

  • Behold the vacant stare of the Chun-Li action figure

NECA has a long history of crowding our shelves with action figures, and while we're accustomed to emptying our wallets for these plastic diversions without question there's just something about this latest Chun Li figure that looks a little ... off. Set for release in August, she's one of a three new NECA toys based on Street Fighter IV, including figures modeled after Akuma and Guile as well. And while each of the figs has their own unique quirks, maybe it's Chun Li's oddly-defined muscles or creepy blank stare that's weirding us right out. On second thought, it's gotta be the hands. They're just way too small.

She may lack the twinkle in Kristin Kreuk's eye, but any lack in feminine wiles are more than made up for in burlap charm. Sony has confirmed earlier rumors that Chun Li and company will be taking their fight to LittleBigPlanet as the platformer's latest adorable costumes. Available Thursday from the PlayStation Store, the set will include Sackitized Street Fighters Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile and Zangief. The outfits will set you back $1.99 each. Or, if you prefer, the whole set can be had by giving your wallet a $5.99 spinning pile driver. Perfect!%Gallery-38905%

  • Rumor: Street Fighter costumes landing soon on LittleBigPlanet

Earlier this month, Capcom hinted at a "little" surprise they'd be dropping on the PSN during the holiday season, leading many fans to the conclusion that Street Fighter's iconic brawlers would soon be inhabiting LittleBigPlanet. RipTen recently spotted what may be the first images of the suggested costumes on Spanish PlayStation community site PSNow -- including adorable, Sackitized versions of Chun-Li, Guile, Zangief and Ryu.It's unclear where PSNow dug up the images, but they certainly look legitimate. However, you should take time to view the rumored costumes while you still can, as SCEE has asked a number of sites to take the images down. Make of that what you will -- we're fairly certain it has something to do with the indecent nature of Sack-Zangief's exposed Sack-nipples.[Via 1UP]

Capcom has released another batch of images from the upcoming SFII HD remake and this time they're featuring hair-enthusiast Guile. Like the other images these ones look absolutely fantastic; it's really going to be incredible to see them in motion and with the backgrounds. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (also known as SSFIITHDR) will be available later this year for download from the PlayStation store. Until then, check out the gallery below!%Gallery-4073%
