  • Today's trapped-at-the-U.S.-border video: Tingle DS

European and Japanese game, Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland has a new trailer showing the too-hot-for-America RPG. While no U.S. release has been mentioned, Tingle importers should at least be able to read the English in the European version, due September 14. That's assuming fans of Tingle can read.We can't imagine Tingle not getting a U.S. release after the work has been done for the European localization. But maybe our myopic tastes make Nintendo nervous. (See the last sentence of the previous paragraph for an example.)Watch the new trailer after the break.

This one goes out to the NiGHTS fanboys, and probably only them. A phonecam video has surfaced, showing the upcoming Wii title, but the weak compression makes it look like we're watching through a rainstorm. We'll let our wild minds fill in the amazing gameplay we can't quite see -- this is about dreams and imagination, right? And for those of you who play games to avoid being creative, check out the better-quality trailer and a pre-E3 gameplay clip after the break.

We told you yesterday about a magical battery that can actually bring a bricked PSP back from the dead. "Surely you jest," you replied, "that is a power wielded by God and maybe Ken Kutaragi." Well, friends, we now have video proof of such necromancy. After the break, take a look at the Pandora battery in action. Should you not want to watch the entire three-minute Lazarus Process, you can skip ahead to the 2:50 mark and finish from there.

Have you finished the Bioshock demo? On hard mode? Take your experience to an even more surreal plane, and explore the outside of the game world though a glitch. Similar to Halo 3 beta shenanigans when Bungie introduced the Banshees, this video from SPJglitches shows how to slip through a wall, and hop along the outside of a building. To what ends, we're not sure. But wring out every last morsel of Bioshock before the shock of buying a $60 new game.Or you could win it.See the inside-out video after the break.[Thanks, Steve!]

Games with a religious agenda aren't new. A trailer for A Fight for Faith: The Bibleman Video Game Adventure shows the latest way to teach gamers about Christianity. You've got Bibleman, Biblegirl, and Cypher making this Superfriends-style team that thumps enemies. It seems like a pretty standard PC/Mac action game, except even in the trailer, that agenda creeps in.With an arch-enemy named "Wacky Protester," our Spidey ACLU-sense gives an idea of where the plot is going. We'll let you decide if this is better or worse than games with a military message. And how do games with subtle advertising compare? Still playing is-it-or-isn't-it-an-exclusive, (hey, can you spare $50 million?), Beautiful Katamari's opening sequence has surfaced on GameTrailers. Having finished the other, less beautiful Katamari games, our joy in seeing the introduction video wasn't as great as we imagine a virgin Katamari player's amazement. And with this title landing on the 360, we expect a lot of gamers will be introduced to the delightfully quirky franchise with Beautiful.See the opening video after the break, or rock it in HD directly from GameTrailers.

  • Today's most competitive videos: Super Battle Opera Finals

Meanwhile, in Tokyo, Arcadia's annual fighting game tournament has begun. Tougeki -- better known as Super Battle Opera -- can easily be considered the world cup of fighting games, drawing competitors from all over the world and for a variety of different titles. This years line-up consists of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Hyper Anniversary, King of Fighters 98, Melty Blood: Act Cadenza, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, Arcana Heart, Virtua Fighter 5, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition."Competitive gaming" may be a dirty word to some, but unlike the spoiled brats that make up the "professional" scene, the players of the fighting game community tend to keep it real with no sponsors to foot their bills or debatable endorsements to pimp out. The players that make up Team USA are the winners of this years EVO regional tournaments. Their reward? A trip to Japan to compete in SBO and a chance to bring it to them before they bring it back to us later this month at the EVO world finals. We're rooting for you, boys.Today's videos are the 2006 finals for some of the returning Super Battle Opera games. Enjoy!

It'll be about two weeks until we'll be able to take a trip down to Rapture and experience the ecology of Bioshock first hand, so in the meantime we'll have to make due with drooling all over this glorious new footage. The developers at Irrational Games take a timeout and explain some of the finer points of their upcoming shooter that has been described as "dope" by our very own James Ransom-Wiley. That kind of mastery over the English language is why we pay him the big bucks. There is an HD version available as well, should you feel like flexing your bandwidth.

  • Today's most awesomely bad movie: The Controller

    08.08.2007

With CG animation straight from the 1980's and a plot that screams "Give me back my son," The Controller: Armchair Combat Professionals is enough to make even Alone in the Dark look good. Well, we shouldn't say things we can't back, but we're sure that Roger Ebert is thanking his lucky stars that he doesn't have to review every terrible indie flick that every delusional filmmaker churns out from their basement.Could Crow T. Robot and the gang possibly save this beast? Possibly, but we're willing to settle for a RiffTrax.

  • Today's multi-directional videos: Everyday Shooter & Mutant Storm Empire

    by

    08.07.2007

The multi-directional shooter hasn't enjoyed this much acceptance since we willingly blew hundreds of quarters on Smash TV back in the day. Of course, the shooters of today sport better (see: fair) design and we have Geometry Wars to hold up as the gold standard. Our waggling cohorts over at Wii Fanboy already took a stab at the bizarre trailer for Geometry Wars Galaxies, but there's so much more going on at the moment. Everyday Shooter is the indie wonder work of Jon Mak and is best described as the love child of Rez and Every Extend Extra: both of which were also musically inspired shooters by the Gooch. Where Everyday Shooter will be gracing the PlayStation Network, Mutant Storm Empire is a sequel to the XBLA launch title. The original was a fantastic, albeit, overlooked shooter and we're dying to get this sequel in our hands with its co-operative play and hugely expanded level design. Neither of these shooters have a solid release date at the moment and while we expected to be playing Mutant Storm Empire soon, it's suspiciously missing from Microsoft's latest release list.

  • Today's hottest vizzle: Snoop Dogg's Dreamland

    08.06.2007

Ah, the mashup scene of 2004. It was a glorious Summer in which we'd fight through San Francisco traffic every Thursday night on our way to Popscene whilst rocking out to a Sixx Mixx in our too-tight pants. Not to say the mashup scene is dead, it's just that we only ever get excited when it's one, big joke. Sort of like our crotch destroying pants."Snoop Dogg's Dreamland" was originally conceived by YTMND user barf and has since evolved into something much more sinister. As with every great idea their think tank comes up with, it was then lifted and uploaded to YouTube where GameVideos found it and popped it into our RSS feeder. That, dear readers, is how these tubes make communication possible. Please be aware that the video is not safe for work due to language.

  • Today's most precious video: Street Fighter, Marisa style

While cats are no longer funny and Rick Astley has been banished from the Internet, Perfect Cherry Blossom remixes continue to be pumped out by Japanese users. The loosely translated and remixed boss theme, "Marisa Stole the Precious Thing," has been applied to everything from Super Mario World hacks to Lucky ??? Star videos and just about anything else you can think of. Not even Street Fighter is safe as Guile and the gang have discovered.Personally, we don't mind it one bit. It could use more "TIGER!" but really, what couldn't?

The Smash Bros. Brawl fan-made videos keep getting better, like this trailer made by Carlos Maulén and posted by YouTube user spiderfalcox. The segment follows the style and soundtrack of the original Smash Bros. trailer but replaces the video track with retro sprites. The result is a cool mash-up of the characters, generally from the games in which they first appeared. While this was posted about two months ago, it's new to us and certainly worth a look if you missed it then. It's just like mid-Summer TV.[Thanks, Kye]

Rockstar must be hoping more than ever that the Wii version of Table Tennis is a hit, but movie tie-in, Balls of Fury, bounces in as another ping-pong option. Do we have high hopes for a movie property? (Especially this movie?) No.But the game trailer is entertaining, especially if you haven't heard of the movie, as we hadn't. Here's hoping that Christopher Walken is a playable character. He's our weapon of choice.See the trailer for this Fall, 2007 DS and Wii game after the break.

Ever since we heard about it, we've been waiting to see Face Training in action. The DS muscle control game program just launched in Japan, and three commercials show it off. We're amazed.A camera connects to the GBA slot, and the DS perches on a stand, pointing the lens at the player user. Face Training then seems to monitor and rate your ability to smile. Aside from physical therapy, we're not sure where the market is for this game application. Maybe Japan has more of a need to practice eyebrow movements than we ever realized. See the trailers after the break. (Or for an even longer look, visit the game's Japanese site.)

  • Today's hungriest video: Aqua Teens

    07.31.2007

The half-baked, non sequitur style of Adult Swim prevails in this trailer for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am. They couldn't even resize footage from different sources to be the same resolution. That's the Adult Swim seal of approval.Strangely -- like some of those cartoon shows the kids are into -- the trailer comes off as engaging and funny. There's golf cart racing, a helpless Carl taking the detectives' abuse, Mooninites, and very little actual golf. Hopefully the actual game will strike a similar balance.See the trailer after the break.

    07.28.2007

This is a pretty cool trailer for the mobile version of The Bourne Ultimatum, with some great side scrolling action sequences reminiscent of the flash series Xiao Xiao. Unfortunately, those moments of shadow-fighting are only part of this pretty awesome trailer and not, unfortunately, actual gameplay footage. The real game looks like what you see above -- which is not bad for a mobile game, but after seeing the rest of the trailer, we're a bit disappointed. Video embedded after the break.

  • Today's most poetic video: Beowulf

When push comes to shove on the floors of a comic book convention, nothing can defend your nerd pride like claiming favor to Beowulf. The mere mention of its name will send Doctor Who cosplayers running for cover behind the nearest collectable bust vendor. It's only fitting that both the film and game trailer debuted today at Comic-Con. Ubisoft has made quite a show out of the San Diego convention, revealing their nerd trifecta of Heroes, Lost and of course, Beowulf. While this first glimpse doesn't feel particularly inspiring, it's not nearly as tacky as the CG effects in the film itself.

Corrupt. Evil. Devil Worshippers. You wouldn't want to be associated with those words, would you? Of course not. The new "Fight for Video Games" trailer created by the Video Game Voters Network is above and beyond ridiculous in moments, even with the Gregorian Chants highlighting the "war" between politicians, media and the video game industry. We're hoping at least one person involved in this over-the-top production is laughing. Interesting note: not a single video game can be seen in the two minute trailer. Video embedded after the break.
