Insomniac Games interning artist Ana Kessel recently lost her leg in a hit-and-run accident, and Epic Games has stepped up to help raise money for her medical bills. Epic is auctioning three signed replica Lancers from Gears of War on Ebay, with all proceeds going to Kessel's recovery fund. Epic has put up a replica original Lancer, a retro Lancer and a gold retro Lancer on Ebay, each signed. They'll be available for bidding through November 22. "All proceeds from this auction will be going to help with Ana Kessel's medical bills," the Lancer descriptions read. "She was an intern at Insomniac Games, a local video game company here in the triangle area, who was recently involved in a hit-and-run accident while on her scooter. She has been in the hospital since Monday, and had to have one of her legs amputated. Without having medical insurance, the financial burden will be immense, which is why I am auctioning off a few pieces of memorabilia from our video game."

If you're the sort of driver who needs up-to-the-moment road conditions, you may want to consider a Mitsubishi for your next ride. The automaker's touchscreen-equipped 2014 Lancer and Outlander models in North America can now use Nokia's Here Traffic services, including (almost) real-time congestion alerts, fuel prices and weather. The cars don't need direct internet access; all data goes through HD Radio, which has enough bandwidth to provide updates every 30 seconds. While Here Traffic is only one piece of a full navigation system, it's hard to object to getting more connected car services at relatively little cost.

Cliff Bleszinski, Design Director at Epic Games, along with Production Director Rod Fergusson, voice actor Fred Tatasciore (the voice of Baird as well as "most of the Locusts") and writers Rob Auten and Tom Bissell all took the stage at Comic-Con 2012 for a panel about Gears of War: Judgment. The biggest piece of news out of the panel was that Judgment has a release date: We'll be killing grubs as Baird in the prequel on March 19.The rest of the panel, however, contained a few juicy bits of Gears trivia, just for fans of the series. If you've lived and died with the COGs for three games now, read on.

We told you yesterday that a tidal wave of TERA closed beta videos were heading your way, and now we've got a couple of clips that take you deep into the fantasy MMO's action combat. In case you've been living under an Arborean rock for the last 12 months, TERA's combat is its raison d'etre, and publisher En Masse Entertainment is hoping to have a significant impact on the current MMO combat paradigm that's built on tab-targeting and hotkey spamming. Join us after the break to see TERA's melee and ranged flavors courtesy of the Lancer and Sorcerer classes.

Well, it's not a release date announcement, but it's not another big-ass monster reveal either, so we'll call that a win. What the heck are we talking about? The official TERA website has updated with a news blurb about the fantasy title's glyph system. The glyph mechanics become available at level 25, and they basically buff your various class skills. Influence and brilliance glyphs lower the MP cost of skill usage; energy and persistence glyphs give you shorter cooldowns; and glyphs of lingering increase skill durations. There are hundreds of glyphs to choose from, and each skill has four different glyphs available. Head to the official site for more info, including specifics on Lancer and Sorcerer glyphs. TERA is currently scheduled for a spring 2012 release in the West.

Hello again, ladies and gentlefolk, and welcome back to another riveting installment of Choose My Adventure: Final Fantasy XIV edition. Last week you fine people voted for me to dive headlong into combat in pursuit of Lancer level 15. Also, you had me betray my home of Limsa Lominsa for Ul'Dah, and I hope you're happy with yourselves because I have a few bones to pick with you for that. But more on that later. I regret to say that I did not quite succeed in my goal of reaching level 15 because in the name of all that is sweet and holy I could not grind out another levequest without shoving the nearest pointy object into my eyes. However, I did make it to about level 10, so nine levels and a billion levequests later, I think I have a pretty good impression of combat. So follow on past the cut and join me as I share it with you, would you kindly?

  • LEGO Lancer is a ludicrous, life-size labor of love

We've been known to have a bit of a penchant for LEGO ourselves, but the kits we snap together usually come with diagramed instructions and have more to do with fanciful medieval castles than brutal alien slaughter, and they sure as hell aren't life-size, functional engineering marvels. PlumBrothers' 1:1 scale Lancer is one of the most impressive LEGO builds we've seen in a long, long time, partly due to its aesthetically accurate construction, but mostly because of the boggling amount of engineering that went into this thing. Not only is it a working rubber-band gun, but the weapon's rubber payload is loaded into working clips. Once the safety (!!) is disabled, the user has their choice of single or burst firing modes at their disposal. The chainsaw even moves and everything. Screw gold, plastic is the new hotness.

Bluehole Studio has been a bit silent as of late regarding its action MMORPG, TERA. But today, European publisher Frogster treated us with not one, not two, not even three, but eight trailers from the lands of TERA. These stunning videos give us a taste of each player class: Warrior, Lancer, Slayer, Sorcerer, Archer, Priest, Mystic, and Berserker. Despite what it may look like, each teaser is shot using TERA's in-game engine and textures -- there's no outside studio work here. Never-before-seen class features are showcased, and Frogster hopes to whet your appetite with these action-packed videos. Follow after the break to judge each class video for yourself. So, truthfully, do these videos make you more excited about TERA?

For those who were willing to slap down the extra cash for the Gears of War 2 Lancer bundle over at Amazon.com and were unlucky enough to receive a broken Lancer, know that manufacturer NECA will send you a fix-it kit. NECA is reporting that some toy Lancers were manufactured incorrectly, not allowing the batteries to make proper contact which results in a less than functioning Lancer. NECA is offering a fix (a small metal plate and installation instructions), all you have to do is shoot them an email with your name and address, then they'll send you a fix kit. Lancers without lights or sound are just not acceptable.[Thanks, Timeridert]

Epic Games wants you to know that the Gears of War 2 Lancer bundle (the one that's exclusive to Amazon.com) is selling like "hot cakes" even at the $139 price point. They probably want you to know that so they can further fuel demand by making the product appear to be limited as its sales success soars. We can totally see through all that marketing fluff. Hot cake sales quotes aside, we also learn that the toy Lancer is in fact electronic and with the power of three C size batteries (probably not included), the 36" replica shakes and makes epic chainsaw sounds. Authentic chainsaw sounds! Sign us up for two!

Here it is fellow Gearheads, the Amazon.com exclusive Gears of War 2 Lancer in all her (yup, it's a her) chainsaw glory. Best thing about it, she's bundled with a copy of the game too. Joy!Amazon.com just opened up pre-orders for the Gears 2 Lancer bundles that cost a cool $139.99. Bundle? Hells yeah! With the purchase of the Amazon.com exclusive Lancer, all purchasers will receive a FREE copy of the regular edition of Gears of War 2. Add an extra $10 to for the Limited Edition. Simply click your way over to Amazon.com, add both the toy Lancer and a copy of Gears 2 (whichever edition you prefer) and they'll subtract $59.99 from your order total. It may not be a Microsoft sponsored edition of the game (technically they didn't lie), but it'll work just fine for us. Cliff would be proud![Thanks, Andrew Laychak]

  • Amazon clarifies some Gears of War 2 Lancer details

Gears of War fanboys -- especially one we know really well -- have been beside themselves over the announcement last weekend of a special Gears of War 2 retail edition bundled with a full-size (non-working) Lancer replica. The only issue is that there's been a tad bit of confusion over pricing. We spoke with Amazon.com, which will be selling the bundle, and received back these bullet points of information: Amazon is the exclusive U.S. retailer of the GoW collector's lancer. Amazon will offer the lancer as a bundle with GoW 2. Pricing for the bundle is not yet confirmed. A detail page for the product bundle will go live on the site this week and if pricing is still to be confirmed at that time, customers can sign up to get an email notification for when the product is available for pre-order. We'll be sure to put up a post when the pre-order for the bundle goes live. We'd rather have fanboys walking around with Lancer replicas than making their own homemade versions with movable parts.

  • Gears of War 2 content unlocked by original Gears achievements, $130 Lancer bundle coming

A dynamic duo of details dropped yesterday at the Gears of War 2 panel at the San Diego Comic Con 08 regarding Epic's epic new installment in their well-received locust-splitting franchise. The first of these announcements, revealed by Cliff Bleszinski, was that the title will utilize "linked achievements" to unlock in-game content -- basically, if you have certain achievements from the original Gears of War on your profile, it will unlock certain bonuses (like extra playable characters in the online mode) in the sequel. The second, and arguably less thrilling announcement, came shortly thereafter -- the obligatory "collector's edition" of Gears of War 2 was unofficially announced at the panel. It will supposedly include a "miniature replica model" of a Lancer, the iconic chainsaw-infused gun from the series. Sure, the special edition's legendary price of $130 may seem a tad unreasonable, but who said that transforming your cat into a futuristic super soldier was going to be cheap?

What Gears of War fanboy doesn't want to take their Gears gaming experience them into the real world. Wearing Marcus Fenix style armor with a a chainsaw revving Lancer similar to a certain Cliff Bleszinski. It's a Gears fanboy's dream! Coolest thing of all is that rather soon, that dream will be coming true.TriForce Sales just announced that they, with the help of sculptor Sid Garrand from the famous Nightmare Armor Studios, have secured a license to create 1:1: scale replicas of Gears of War armor (including body armor and helmets) as well as the iconic Gears Lancer. All replicas will be made of high density foam, fiberglass and polyurethane composites, making them fully wearable and totally "badass". Pre-orders for the TriForce Sales produced goodness will begin July 7th over at ProjectTriforce.com for a yet to be revealed price. Yup, our geeky fantasies are slowly becoming a reality.

If you haven't seen it by now, behold, the Gears of War, Nerf Lancer modification. Forsaken_angel24's genius is rooted in the combination of a regular Nerf Longshot and toy chainsaw. Neither of which would cause the average Wal-mart parent cause for concern. Combined, they take on the form of this foreboding assault rifle with working chainsaw bayonet, LED lighting and sound effects... which shoots squishy balls at little girls. Full instructions for modders are posted over at the Nerfhaven forums. We've added a video after the break -- not so much a how-to as a loving tribute to man's god-given right to war. • Gears lancer made with NERF and toy chainsaw

Can you say delectable? Because that's the adjective we use to describe the custom created Gears of War Lancer you see above. Not only is it an amazingly detailed replica of Mr. Fenix's Lancer that lights up and carries that "bad-ass mystique", but would you believe it was created by fashioning together a NERF gun and a toy chainsaw? Well, you should believe, because that's exactly how it was made. Words cannot express our admiration with the toy in question ... it was love at first sight. Now only if they sold these kind of toys at our local Toys R Us, then we'd truly be satisfied in life. Stupid government though. We say down with the government's strict toy rules and up with realistic Gears Lancer toy replicas at Toys R Us! Woohoo! Who's with us?[Via Joystiq]
