  • The Dwarf Slayer and Orc Choppa coming to Warhammer Online with a live event

The Mythic developers have been having a little fun with the blogosphere over the last two weeks, sending out clippers and movies hinting at what might be coming down the pipe for Warhammer Online. Despite the teasing, it looks like fan supposition about what these gag gifts mean was entirely accurate. Today we've been walking through a discussion we had with Mythic's Jeff Hickman, and he confirmed that the Dwarf Slayer and Orc Choppa are indeed going to WAR. In fact, the very first event in the Call to Arms live event expansion will be Bitter Rivals, an event much like the one that introduced the Blackguard and Knight of the Blazing Sun to the game late last year. Join us below the cut as we talk to Jeff about the new classes, the event that will introduce them, and how Bitter Rivals differs from the much-beloved Heavy Metal live event.%Gallery-43282%

We just finished a big pre-1.1 interview with some of the Warhammer Online developers, and we'll have a full writeup of that conversation available soon. We wanted to let you know right away, though, that details on the next big live event in Warhammer will be coming very soon. Josh Drescher, speaking with us alongside Adam Gershowitz and members of the RvR team, let us know that we'll be getting full details on the Keg's End live event as of this Friday. Additionally, the much-anticipated 1.1 patch will be jumping from the test to the live servers 'very, very soon'. According to the developers, always in good spirits, they're "spellchecking the patch notes" right now. That's an indication that we'll be seeing things like the new open RvR influence system on the live servers probably within the next week or so. They're hopeful it will make it out there this week, but made no promises. For video of Paul's Barnett's off-the-cuff introduction to the Keg's End event, read on below the cut.

  • Video footage of WAR's Reikland Factory scenario

The Heavy Metal live event for Warhammer Online has been well-received, albeit with some complaints about scenario frequency. Reikland Factory is a unique 'event-only' scenario in WAR, which some players lament will end with Heavy Metal. If this is indeed the case, at least one blogger out there decided to capture it in video for posterity. Snafzg from The Greenskin blog has put up video footage of his participation in the Reikland Factory scenario. The footage, with Snafzg's commentary throughout, walks the viewer through the scenario and its multiple types of terrain, both indoors and open air. Snafzg is in combat for much of the walkthrough so it's an interesting way to get a quick visual tour of the scenario. You can find The Greenskin's "Reikland Factory Heavy Metal Scenario RvR" video embedded below the cut: Did you enjoy this? • Warhammer combat and careers patches pushed back

Mythic dev Mark Jacobs writes that the combat and careers patches for Warhammer Online will not be appearing in patch 1.0.5 as previously planned and are instead being rescheduled for patch 1.0.6. "Our plan was that no patch would make it through the [Public Test Servers] until we were sure that it was tested thoroughly and properly." writes Jacobs, "It was evident throughout the testing process that some of the changes needed to be reconsidered and some changed outright." Patch 1.0.5 is going to deploy to live servers tomorrow (Tuesday, 18 November), with fixes/improvements to the Realm War system, and the "Heavy Metal" Live Event that sets the stage for the Knight of the Blazing Sun and Blackguard.

  • Heavy Metal live event brings two new careers to Warhammer Online

Much sooner than many were expecting, two new careers - the Knight of the Blazing Sun and the Black Guard - are to be introduced to Warhammer Online. Rather than just slip them in with a patch, Mythic is making a festival of the event. The classes won't be available to everyone at first; instead, by completing certain tasks, players will be able to unlock them early. From November 17th when the event launches, a new tab in the Tome of Knowledge will take players to the Live Events page. There will be a new daily task placed on the page each day, and completing those tasks earns influence, public quest style; the ultimate prize, which will require a login and task completion each day, will be the ability to play the new classes a week before general release. • Preview EQII's Game Update 47, Storm Break: Part 2

The second part of the EverQuest II GU47: Storm Break preview has been unveiled at EQ2Players, teasing us with a few more features of the upcoming patch.Continuing in the vein of the first preview, there is more good news for lower level characters, as Adept I and Master I drops in the 1-20 range will now always be a spell that someone in the party can use. Moving up in the levels somewhat, Chardok, Sebilis and Karnor's Castle named mobs will be "less shy and more generous with the quality of their phat lewtz" -- though it's not 100% clear whether this means some brand new items, or just less of the crappy stuff. Sebilis and Chardok will also get extra spawn points to make life easier. As well as these changes, the preview introduces us to the star of Storm Break's Live Event, pictured above. So far they are labeled in their images as "beast", and they can show up anywhere in the world to take a bite out of you when GU47 is released. We've put together a Storm Break gallery for you to flip through, and if you decide that you just can't wait to be set upon by these new monsters, this update is available right now on the test server.%Gallery-28090%
