Another week goes by and another Live Top Ten is upon us. This week sees some things that don't change, the return of a few old faces, and other movements. The top four remain the same, with Shadowrun also remaining at tenth, though its demo dropped to 9th, which is unfortunate. Oblivion and GRAW 2 make returns at sixth and seventh respectively, as it looks like players are coming back to those in the summer lull. Full list breakdown after the break.

This week's Live Top Ten let the dust settle from last week's onslaught of demos. The top three remained unchanged, with Guitar Hero II moving into fourth, pushing the Shadowrun demo down. One of the other demos from last week, Tenchu Z remains in the same spot, and the Arcade game, Prince of Persia actually moved up to eighth. Also, though its demo has been on the list for the past week, the retail version of Shadowrun has made it on the top ten list, and will hopefully continue to climb. Full breakdown of the list after the break.

This week's live top ten has a third of the list devoted to digitally distributed demonstration content. Of those demos, Shadowrun came all the way in fourth, with Tenchu Z down in 7th, and the Overlord demo rounding out the list in tenth. Without the Halo 3 Beta there to hog the list, Forza moved up all the way to second, behind Gears of War. Crackdown proved it had some staying power without the help of the aforementioned beta, as it maintained the middle ground at fifth. Also, Prince of Persia managed to make the list at ninth. Speaking of the list, you can find that after the break. Enjoy.

This week's Live Top Ten is very similar to last week's betastic showing, with most of the titles either staying put, or moving one spot from their previous position. The top three remain the same, with Gears of War, Crackdown, and the Halo 3 Beta, with GRAW 2 rounding out the bottom, as before. The DiRT demo drops from fourth to eighth, with everything except for Call of Duty 3 moving up a spot. The Hour of Victory demo also stakes out a spot at lucky number s(l)even. Full list with last week's standings after the break.

This week's Live Top Ten shows a trend that will continue on through to the 10th. The Halo 3 Beta is being played a lot, by way of our actions Crackdown. Not enough to knock Gears of War of its top spot, but certainly enough to give the retail game second, and the beta in accesses in third. Of course, there is more on the list worth noting other than those three worth mentioning, such as the DiRT demo, or the free XBLA title, Aegis Wing. Full list can be found after the break, or you can just go back to playing the beta. We'll encourage you in your habit.

This week's Live Top Ten features the same big hitters that have been around for the past few months, but it is also sprinkled with a few demos that hit the Marketplace this past week. Both the Forza 2 and Area 51: Blacksite demos made it on the list at number two and four beating out games like Rainbow Six Vegas and Guitar Hero II. Also spurred into action was Crackdown which jumped to the number three spot probably due to its new content and the Halo 3 beta fanfare. Speaking of the Halo 3 beta, it didn't show up on the Live Top Ten list due to it being released later in the week, but you can nearly guarantee it'll be making an appearance next week. The complete top ten list is posted after the break for your viewing pleasure.

Last week saw some demolition to the Live Top Ten list with the Command and Conquer 3 demo shaking up the top three. This week, the same thing happens, but it's out of left field with Pinball FX, which incidentally was also the top downloaded Arcade title as well, popping into third, behind Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas. All of which are followed by Guitar Hero II and the C&C3 demo. Call of Duty 3 moves down to sixth, while GRAW 2 stays put, Crackdown moves up to eighth. 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures proves it has some staying power by pulling off second to last, with Oblivion rounding off the list at tenth. Full list available after the break.

Last week saw little change in the Live Top Ten, but this week had some movement in both game activity as well as making room for some newcomers. The biggest change is the Command and Conquer 3 demo showing up, aptly, in the third spot, pushing Guitar Hero II, and Call of Duty 3 down to forth and fifth, respectively. 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures also makes an appearance in 6th, followed by GRAW 2 and Oblivion, the latter of which managed to stay in the same place as last week. Crackdown takes a penultimate dip, with Pro Evolution 6 trailing in tenth. Full listing after the break.

This week's Live Top Ten is actually very similar to last week, with one minor exception. Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, Guitar Hero II, CoD 3 and GRAW 2 all hold their previous standings in the top half with pride. Boom Boom Rocket makes an explosive appearance at the top of the bottom half, with Crackdown, Oblivion, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Madden '07 all shoving down a spot to make way for the Celebration of Light that is BBR. Full list available after the break, although with such a simple change from last week, you almost don't need to. Almost.

While we didn't have a Live Top Ten to correspond with its return last week, we got one fired up for you this week. Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas maintain their top two spots, with Guitar Hero II squeaking into third, pushing Call of Duty 3, GRAW 2, Crackdown and Oblivion all down a slot to make room for the RAWK. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 moves up from tenth to eighth, with Madden NFL 07 and Saints Row each making a return to the list in ninth and tenth, respectively. We've got our comprehensive list complete with last week's standings awaiting you after the break.

This week on Xbox Live we see half of the titles holding last week's position, with Gears of War, Crackdown, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Call of Duty 3, and Oblivion keeping their respective first, second, third, fourth and ninth place in the list. We also get treated to having two Xbox Live Arcade titles make it into the mix, with Alien Hominid HD rounding out the top half, and Worms taking in the number seven spot. GRAW 2's multiplayer demo stakes placement between the Arcade arrivals, with Madden NFL 07 and Lost Planet both moving down two spots from last week's standings to finish off the ranking. As per our tradition, we have a list for you with the previous placement in parentheses after the break.

Last week, Crackdown came on strong with bronze position on the Live top ten. Now it's swapped spots with Rainbow Six: Vegas as Call of Duty 3 continues to be just shy of the podium. GRAW 2's mulitplayer demo makes a return to take the Crackdown demo's position, which moved to 7th. Madden refuses to budge at sixth while Lost Planet and Oblivion get nudged to eighth and ninth, respectively. GRAW rounds out the bottom of the list while last, and obviously not least, Gears of War retains its top spot over all of Xbox Live-dom. Do you feel slightly confused? If so, our simple, yet eloquent list awaits your review after the break, complete with last weeks standings in parentheses.

Last week, we had 4 demos on the Xbox Live Activity top ten. This week, we only have one on the list. Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas continue to hold their respective top two spots. Crackdown comes in strong taking third place, pushing Call of Duty 3 down a notch. The Crackdown demo holds its middle of the pack position, even after its retail counterpart has been released. Madden and Lost Planet continue to follow behind, while Oblivion moves up a spot. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 comes in ninth and Saints Row makes a return to the list at tenth. We've got a list ready for you after the break with the title's standings last week in brackets for those statistic hungry types.

For two weeks in a row now, we've had demos creeping into the Xbox Live activity charts. This week is no different, bringing a forth into the fold, ironically taking the forth spot. Of course, we're talking about the Def Jam: Icon demo. Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas continue to dominate and hold onto their stranglehold for the top spots. COD3 moved into bronze position, pushing Crackdown to fifth behind the aforementioned new demo. Madden, Lost Planet, NBA Street and Oblivion stay put, and GRAW 2's demo replaces its predecessor in tenth place. Take a gander at our handy dandy list after the break.

After the Crackdown demo managed to crack the long held top three last week, two more demos are climbing the Xbox Live charts this week. While Gears of War maintains #1 and Rainbow Six Vegas reclaims #2, Call of Duty 3 has been pushed all the way down to #5. The usurpers: the Crackdown demo at #3 and the GRAW 2 demo at #4. Madden 07 remains at #6, while Lost Planet drops two spots to claim #7. Another demo, NBA Street Homecourt, lands at #8, while Live mainstays, Oblivion and GRAW, grab #9 and #10 respectively. Check out a handy list after the break.

It was a busy week for Xbox Live last week, as three new titles have split the top ten in twain. The trio of titles are the Crackdown demo, Heavy Weapon, and the Battlestations: Midway demo, landing at #4, #6, and #7 respectively. The big story here is that the Crackdown demo -- just a demo, mind you -- managed to unseat Lost Planet, which has been unceremoniously shoved into the #5 slot. Granted, the Crackdown demo is free, but considering you can only play it for an hour at the most, it's still very impressive. The rest of the list is pretty much what we've come to expect, with Gears on top and Vegas and COD3 vying for second place. The bottom three slots are rounded out by Madden 07, Oblivion, and Saints Row respectively. Last week we asked whether or not we'd ever see something that isn't a shooter at #1. Could it be Crackdown? Check out this week's top ten after the break.

Given the onslaught of cold and nasty weather that ripped across the US last week, we find it amusingly ironic that Lost Planet -- a game about snow -- debuted at number 4 on the Xbox Live charts. Then again, given that the game has already gone platinum, it's not exactly surprising. The racing genre gets denied this week, as NFS: Carbon and PGR3 are bumped off the list. They are replaced with UNO, which slipped a spot to hit #9, and Call of Duty 2, which was missing from last week's top ten. The rest of the list is basically a mishmash of the same old titles, with Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, and Call of Duty 3 once again claiming spot 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Here's an interesting question for you: will there ever be a #1 title that isn't a shooter? Ponder this question as you check out the top ten list after the break.

Major Nelson has posted his usual breakdown of the top ten Xbox Live titles, and there is a curious absence. After trumpeting worldwide shipments of 1 million units, Capcom's Lost Planet is missing from the list entirely. It looks like it's still too early for Lost Planet to make an impact. Even if half of the 1 million shipped copies actually sold, that's still significantly less than the number of copies of mainstays like Oblivion and Gears. And of course, the game only launched this past Friday. We do expect, however, that Lost Planet will make it onto next week's top ten. Check out the current list after the break.

The first Live top ten for the new year has been posted, and the results are mostly the same as last week, with a few key differences. Gears, COD3, and Vegas all maintain their respective places 1-3. Madden 07 replaces Assault Heroes -- which has fallen off the top ten -- to grab #4. Oblivion and GRAW jump two spots to take #5 and #6. Need for Speed: Carbon sneaks onto the list in the #7 slot. Saints Row maintains #9 and Call of Duty 2 drops all the way to #10. That leaves #8, which surprisingly belongs to UNO on Xbox Live Arcade. Of course, we love UNO -- it's one of our favorite choices for editorial meetings -- but we didn't expect to see it hit the top ten. We can only surmise that this is the result of many 360s being received for Christmas. How about you? Have you been getting your UNO on? Check out the list after the break.

    12.26.2006

Back in action and mad with power, Major Nelson has once again posted the top ten most played games on Xbox Live. You may recall that the list was absent last week on account of obscene amounts of wind. Apart from some Xbox Live mainstays, this week's list is a completely new beast. First, the oldies: Gears of War maintains its #1 spot as Call of Duty 3 hangs on to #2 and Vegas remains in the money at the #3 spot. Meanwhile, Madden 07 keeps #5. As for the new wave hits: Assault Heroes shoots all the way up to the #4 spot, while Call of Duty 2, Oblivion, and GRAW all gain a spot to take #6, #7, and #8 respectively. The last two entries are perhaps the biggest surprise we've seen on the list in a while, as Saints Row claims the #9 slot and the Project 8 demo -- not the full game, the demo -- claims the final spot in the top 10. Bizarre, though it might bode well for Project 8's holiday sales. See the handily numbered list after the break.
