    Judge refuses to block the release of ‘The Laundromat’ on Netflix

    A judge in Connecticut has refused to block the release of The Laundromat, which arrived on Netflix today. Earlier this week, the lawyers portrayed in the film filed a defamation claim, arguing that the movie unfairly cast them in a negative light. As Deadline reports, Judge Janet Bond Arterton has refused to issue the injunction, but only because Arterton says the Connecticut court had no jurisdiction over the issue. Instead, the case will be transferred to California.

    Earlier today, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists released a database of 368,000 names tied to the Panama Papers leaks. According to the ICIJ, the database is "the largest ever release of information about offshore companies and the people behind them," and it removes the secrecy from some 214,000 offshore entities.

    Following the pseudo-resignation of its Prime Minister, whom the leaked Panama Papers tied to an offshore holding company, Iceland's ruling coalition remains in turmoil. Despite appointing a new PM on Thursday, the government is facing calls for early elections. And, to make matters worse, the opposition Pirate Party is surging at the polls with more than half of Icelanders reportedly willing to vote for them over the current coalition.
