With NCSoft's recent announcement that update 1.9 is landing on American servers this May, denizens of Atreia already had a lot to look forward to. MMOSite brings word of further good news in the form of the much discussed 2.0 patch making its way to the Korean test servers. The patch includes a new pet system (hinted at in the Vision video last year), a new adventuring zone called Balaur River, a new RvR fortress, and most interestingly, a new movement system called Path of Wind that will apparently function in addition to the existing flying and gliding mechanics. Details are sketchy on this new system, but we'll be digging deeper into 2.0 to bring you the latest information very soon. Additionally, the level cap has been increased to 55 on the Korean test server. Check out the details as well as a few screen shots on MMOSite. The official North American Aion website has also updated with a mention of the 2.0 patch. Patch notes will be forthcoming next week (a whopping 38 pages worth, pre-translation), and the community team also pledges to relay information in a timely fashion as it becomes available from the Korean mother ship.

Oi, you there! Yeah, you, you grubby Wastelander! Bored of hiking the Grand Canyon all by your lonesome? There's hope for you yet -- the Fallen Earth team has announced that they've released companion pets into the game ahead of schedule. The dogs -- Wasteland Mutts -- were spotted on the test servers, yet did not make the journey to yesterday's 1.3.11 patch. While players feared that the new pet system was being held back for more testing, apparently everything is A-OK, and the Mutts are now available at feed and fuel merchants throughout Sectors 1-3. Even better, Icarus let out the word that the pets will be cheaper than anticipated, costing players about 500 chips for a new best friend. While the Mutts are welcome news indeed, Icarus wants us to know that Fallen Earth won't be a dogs-only club: "Don't get too attached," they teased. "We hear other variants still exist in Deadfall!"

Aeria Games, providers of popular free-to-play MMOs Dream of Mirror Online, Last Chaos, Shaiya, and Twelve Sky, among others, continues its wild growth with a new game set in a fictional prehistoric time: Stone Age 2. A 2D, isometric view, similar to Dofus, is the milieu for this title, which will be released in North America at an unspecified date. There are a couple of intriguing game mechanics for this new MMO, including a deeper Pet system than exists in most games, allowing players the ability to train their pets (which is the heart of gameplay), and receive updates on pet status via email sent directly to their cellphones. There is even mention of being able to access video of in-game events by way of fixed cameras, while you're unable to drop into the game itself. Could this type of game-to-real world interaction be the precursor to a new wave of always-on content? Get screenshots of this new title at its website.[Via WorthPlaying]
