  • Forget Warlocks, nerf Imps

Apparently, Warlocks' littlest demon friends have been performing far better than expected. This would be due to receiving way too much of Warlocks' +damage bonus. To remedy the situation, a hotfix has been instated that removes Imps' spell damage coefficient entirely. Drysc: We will be implementing a hotfix this evening that temporarily removes the Warlock Imp's spell damage coefficient as it was performing far in excess of our intention. This will remove any spell damage bonuses from improving the Imp's attacks. We are currently on schedule to be implementing the correct values with the next patch. While we are able to effectively block the spell damage bonus with a hotfix it will require a client side patch to input the intended spell damage bonus the Imp is receiving. Overkill? Certainly. But if they couldn't hotfix it to the right value, I suppose underpowered is better than imba. Thoughts?[Thanks, Tim]

  • Doggy treadmill gets your pup in shape

For those of you out there whipping your offspring into shape by utilizing the Step2Play middleman, and burning your own fair share of calories on the GameRunner, it's about time Rover joined the fray, eh? The Dog Walker treadmill helps prevent doggy obesity and apparently relieves the dog's stress, all while helping it to exert all that pent-up energy from being cramped up in the house all day. Aside from sporting a smaller, dog-friendly design, casters to enable easy transport, and two side shields to prevent minor tumbling disasters, the machine also sports a safety leash which prevents the pup from sliding off the rear (or giving up on the goal) and a devilish remote control to vary the speed from 0 to 5-kilometers per hour (3.1 mph). So if you're tired of Fido's stomach dragging the ground while crawling around in misery, you can pick up its very own treadmill (to go along with that recently-purchased pedometer) for ¥15,800 ($131).[Via TokyoMango]

  • Get a Pet: Son of Hakkar

I know you've seen this pet. It seems like every hunter at 60 is trying to get this crazy red Wind Serpent. If you head into Alterac Valley, you're practically SWIMMING in Wind Serpents! No? Well, if you're not, you soon will be. The Son of Hakkar is the best pre-Outlands pet, or so I'm told. I wanted to know more, so I hit up some fellow hunters to get the low-down, and find out how to get this elusive yet wondrous beast into my stable. I talked to Forge and Taerek, and they've let me know that yes, the Son of Hakkar really is the best pet going into the Outlands. It does great damage, it has Lightning Breath 6 (the mother of all Lightning Breaths?), and actually holds its own as a tank. We were actually taking out Dukes in Silithus using 2 hunters, 2 Sons of Hakkar, and my paladin to heal. Using the guide below, I was actually able to single-handedly (with a guildie to group me into a raid group) head into Zul'Gurub and get my very own Son of Hakkar. It took me two tries, it only took Taerek one. Let me know how you do. Video and Instructions are after the jump.

Every guild meeting, I get comments on this pretty little dragonling. Some of you may know how to get it already, but if my guild is anything to go on, a lot of you don't. Like the last item I posted, this one's Alliance-only (sorry, Horde fans, but Alliance is what I play). It's a non-combat pet, like cats and mechanical squirrels, so all it does is flap around and look like something the art team did when they were tripping, but I like it anyway. It's not exactly hard to get per se, but it does require quite a bit of legwork. It all starts in my favorite zone, Feralas...

  • New Pet type in the Burning Crusade

I knew it. Hunters have nothing to worry about, come the expansion. Karlik of Proudmoore (EU) dropped us this screenshot of a new pet he found wandering around Outland-- it's called "Bug," but looks pretty "alien-y" (yes, that's a technical term). Click on the pic to see the full shot. And if you think it looks cool, wait until you hear the stats on it. The words are in German, but as you can probably tell just from context, you're looking at a hunter pet that breaks 6k in armor, and has 124 dps. And that's untrained (that's what "Rebellisch" means), so it only goes up from there. That ain't no plainstrider, let me tell you. Now, of course in the expansion everything will be bigger, better, and faster, so while this pet currently matches up to, say, a blue-geared endgame druid, it won't seem quite so sweet after we've had a long look at all the new stat levels. Then again, this is one of the first pets you can get in Outland (Karlik's shot shows he's still at 60, and he trained it), so things only get better from here. I'm still standing by my skepticism on those leaked pet abilities (although I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to give something like this Bug a mana drain of some kind), but I also think that in terms of new pets and their strengths, hunters are going to get some really, really nice love when the Dark Portal opens.[ Thanks, Karlik! ]Update: A few people in the comments (thanks, guys!) have pointed out that Petopia says this "Bug" may be, in fact, just that-- a bug, not meant to be tamed. Only one type of the "spore bat" can be tamed, and it can't even currently learn Growl. A shame, but just like all things BC, we'll have to see what happens.

  • K.K. Slider featured on new Pet Shop Boys single?

UK Dance guys Pet Shop Boys apparently have a great appreciation for Animal Crossing's musical K-9 K.K. Slider. See, one of our fine readers recently noticed a bit of similarity in a song sung by the Boys and one performed on Saturday night by K.K. Slider. In his online blog, mrdiscopop posts segments comparing the two, which honestly do sound somewhat similar. If the band's name is unfamiliar, you've probably heard their hit West End Girls.[Thanks Mark!]
