Age of Booty, Capcom's plundering pirates RTS/board game, docks on the PS3 this week as part of the weekly update. Besides that, it's relatively quiet, with some DLC for LittleBigPlanet and Need for Speed: Undercover washing up on the PSN shore. Our treasure map indicates the full North American update is listed after the break.PS3 Fanboy has the European PSN update, which lacks Booty, but still has plenty of junk in the trunk.

Following an unexpected delay in mid October, Capcom recently announced that the very enjoyable Age of Booty will plunder the PSN starting Nov. 13. The publisher hopes that Europe and Asia will get it on the same day, but the cabin boy with that confirmation apparently got lost on shore leave (something about a Monkey Island).Despite the middling reviews, the $10 title certainly delivers a quality online experience for those who feel there isn't enough real-time strategy in their board games.

This week's PSN update brings us a new Qore, which travels to Tokyo for its latest episode. Also, as promised, LittleBigPlanet owners can grab themselves two free outfits (pictured above). Enjoy the free stuff while it lasts, the nickel and dime LBP strategy starts soon. What else? Oh yeah, so, there's this game called Metal Gear Solid 4. No, no, there's no DLC ... but a demo for it is available now. Apparently that little demo was so stealthy, it took almost five months to find the thing. The full North American update is listed after the break.PS3 Fanboy informs us the European PSN update wins this week, check it out on their site. Apparently we're supposed to keep a tally on who wins from now on.

Ready for today's American PSN update? It's actually fairly similar to the European update, but without a few key items such as Theme Park, the MotorStorm costume and the "Week 1" rare t-shirt for LittleBigPlanet. You guys do get an episode of Qore, though, which promises to show off some interesting Home footage. There's also the usual bunch of DLC packs. Honestly, these update posts are taking longer and longer to write up each week. Less content, please! We kid, we kid ... Playable Content Qore episode 6 ($3 each or $25 for annual subscription) Metal Gear Solid 4 demo (free) NCAA Basketball 09 demo (free) Add-on Content LittleBigPlanet Spaceman costume (free) LittleBigPlanet Halloween Mask costume (free) Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm "Storm Pack 3" (free) Buzz! Quiz TV Comedy Pack ($5.99) Rock Band DLC (listed after the break) Guitar Hero World Tour DLC (listed after the break) Tom Clancy's EndWar "Enlistment Pack" (free)

It's time to finally take Mirror's Edge for a test run. The demo is available now on PSN and will make its way onto the XBM tomorrow. Our brief hands-on time with Faith back at E3 showed us the game's concept worked, but now it's time to really put the title through its paces. The PSN also adds the EndWar demo, which is also certainly worth checking out. The full North American update is listed after the break.PS3 Fanboy has the details on this week's European PSN update, which includes the EndWar demo. We wonder if the game's surprisingly responsive voice commands are still top notch with a cracking Welsh accent?

The Mirror's Edge demo highlights this otherwise fairly lackluster PSN Store update. If you want to get into the Halloween mood there's a price drop on Siren: Blood Curse and a demo for Alone In The Dark. Otherwise, it's the usual load of downloadable content and videos. Here's the full release list: Price Promotion Siren: Blood Curse ($30, $11 per episode pack) - One week promo (10/30-11/6) Playable Content Mirror's Edge demo Tom Clancy's EndWar demo WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 demo Alone In The Dark: Inferno demo Add-on Content: Civilization Revolution Artifact/Wonder Pack: The Mythic ($3.75) Civilization Revolution Artifact/Wonder Pack: The Iconic ($3.75) Civilization Revolution Artifact/Wonder Pack: The Eternal ($3.75) Guitar Hero World Tour - "No Rain" by Blind Melon ($2) Rock Band DLC (listed after the break)

Now that the unscheduled PSN maintenance is done with, we can get on with Booty business. Oops, it appears the Age of Booty won't be starting on PSN today. Despite Capcom's previous announcement, checking the publisher's press site reveals the game now has a November release, along with PC. However, there is SOCOM: Confrontation and the demo for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift available this week. Check out the full North Amercan update after the break. The European PSN update for the week can be found over at SackBoy central PS3 Fanboy.

After we were tipped about "essential maintenance work" being conducted in Europe on the PSN, we contacted Sony to find out if North America would be shutting down for a time as well. Turns out, it is. The PSN is scheduled to be unavailable tomorrow, Oct. 14, during the following time: 11AM - 4PM Pacific 2PM - 7PM Eastern Be sure to plan accordingly and get those petitions ready demanding a refund for the downtime.[Thanks, James]

  • Age of Booty will soon drop anchor on the PSN

    10.10.2008

Age of Booty, Capcom's multiplayer pirate strategy game, will "soon" (Capcom's official blog indicates an October 16th date) be available on the PlayStation Network Store according to a new post on the PlayStation Blog. The post states that the game will sell for only $9.99 when it launches and will support 8-player online multiplayer (4-player local). A demo will be made available a couple of weeks later, which will expire after a certain time. This may sound unfair, but the demo will allow you to play online, so it all balances out. We had some time with the game at E3 earlier this year and we enjoyed what we played. It's a real-time strategy game where you are tasked with pillaging coastal villages and removing other pirate threats before they do the same to you. Check the PlayStation Blog for a more in-depth explanation of the game. Age of Booty will ship with a map editor, so if you're the creative type you'll have something a little extra to play with. These maps will be uploadable for other players to download. There are hints that the title will support trophies, even if it hasn't quite been confirmed yet. As always, we'll keep you updated on that.

An article on the PlayStation Games & Media News site reveals that a PSN version of Prince of Persia Classic is on its way. The PSN version appears to be the same as the XBLA release from last year, which saw a graphical and control upgrade to the original (and retro frustrating) Prince of Persia from 1989.There's currently no price announced for the title, but if we had to guess, it would be $10 like the XBLA version. We've contacted Ubisoft and asked about a release date.[Via GameBytes]%Gallery-3853%

It's Thursday? Really? Time means nothing here in Tokyo. We've done some phoning around, however, and it turns out the EU PSN Store has been updated. Linger In Shadows is respectfully priced (though we have no idea how much content the "game" includes) and we're definitely looking forward to trying the Valkyria Chronicles demo. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, there's got to be an add-on or two down there that interests you. Check below for the full list, as usual.Playable content Linger In Shadows full game (£1.99/€2.99) Valkyria Chronicles demo Hail to the Chimp demo Super Stardust HD "Complete" (£6.99/€9.99) Add-on content Buzz! Quiz TV "Comedy Movie" Quiz pack (£3.49/€4.99) NBA Live 365 expansion (£6.99/€9.99) NBA Live 09 "Oklahoma City" pack (free) Rocketmen: It Came From Uranus expansion pack (£1.99/€2.99) Super Stardust HD "Double Pack" (£2.49/€5.99) Everybody's Golf: World Tour Costume Pack (£3.19/€3.99) Mega Man 9 "Endless Attack" mode (£1.99/€2.99) Mega Man 9 "Proto Man" character (£1.49/€1.99) Rock Band DLC (listed after the break)

Today's PSN update will see the release of a $5 expansion pack for echochrome on PSP. The PlayStation Blog states that the PSN's mind-bending puzzler will receive an additional 40 stages for the doll to survive. The expansion pack will also be offered in a bundle with the original game, though no price was set. There is also no mention of an expansion for the PS3 version, which released the same day as the PSP version back in May.

Sony has already confirmed the PSP Wi-Fi store is coming this Fall for Japan. The official box art for a November 30 US PSP Brite (a.k.a. PSP-3000) bundle also shows store functionality (via Amazon), indicating that the fall launch will be global and just in time to keep yourself distracted during Thanksgiving dinner. It was previously rumored that the store would be coming with firmware 5.00. In other PSP Brite news, the gang at Eurogamer spent the weekend with the upgraded handheld as well as firmware 4.20, featuring a Color Space option that, "If you set to [Wide], the system's display will appear more vivid."[Via PSP Fanboy]

This is the boxart for the PSP Brite Limited Edition 4GB memory stick pack. Notice anything interesting? PS3 owners among you might recognise two things. Firstly, the PSN logo, which the PSP has previously not been associated with. Secondly, the screen shows the PSN Store. The actual PSN store, not the PC-based website. Interesting. That means we should be seeing the direct PSP store before this bundle releases on November 30th. Will we be hearing an announcement regarding the exact release date for the WI-FI based store directly on the PSP soon? With the Tokyo Game Show just around the corner, it's a strong possibility.
