Canon VIXIA HF G10 boasts HD CMOS sensor and manual focus, joins new M, R, and S series camcorders
Another year, another revamping of your favorite company's camcorder lineup. Today's Mad Lib-esque fill-in-the-company-name is Canon. The VIXIA HF G10 is its new flagship with the approximately 2 megapixel (i.e. 1920 x 1080 resolution) HD CMOS sensor, a 10x optical zoom, manual focus ring, 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD, 32GB internal memory, dual SDXC slots, cinema filters, and a $1,499 price tag due in March. The M-Series all have the same HD CMOS sensor, 10x lens, 3-inch touchscreen cinema filters, dual SDXC slots and fits neatly into the new WP-V3 waterproof case. The 32GB M41, 16GB M40, and card slot-only M400 are coming in March for $799, $699, and $649 (the related case is $599 and coming out a month prior in February). The S30 has an 8.59 megapixel sensor, 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD, 32GB internal space, and is coming March for $1,099. Lastly, the new R-series. A 3.2 megapixel sensor, 3-inch touch panel LCD, HD-to-SD down conversion, dual SDXC slots, and 20x zoom. $499 for the 32GB R21, $399 for the 8GB R20, and $379 for the internal storage-deprived R200, all due out in February. LG's XNOTE R200 with SideShow out in Korea
LG just kicked out the Z1 prototype as the production-quality, dual-LCD XNOTE R200. That 2.5-inch touch-sensitive, Windows SideShow LCD makes for quick access to email, photos, music, "mini-games" and plenty of Vista gadgets without having to boot the OS or even flip open the lappie. The laptop itself starts with a basic (R200-EP76K) configuration of a 12.1-inch LCD, 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of memory, 128MB of ATI HD 2400 graphics, 802.11a/g/draft-n, and 160GB of disk for as estimated ???2,240,000. That's about $2,440 should it ever arrive Stateside. Anyone else feeling a bit let down by the dearth of SideShow devices after all the fuss made by the industry at CES in January?
Alltel to get Samsung R200 and R500
A batch of new Samsung handsets is apparently headed to Alltel soon. Specifically, the Sammy SCH-R500 and the SCH-R200 should be on their way to Alltel shelves (and on Alltel's site) for your viewing and purchasing pleasure. While the R200 is a relatively plain (but slim) candybar, you'll be hooked on it if you liked the Samsung Wafer (the R200 is very similar in size). Size aside, the R200 drops several features from the Wafer to make the cut to its entry-level status. Meanwhile, the 1.3 megapixel, EV-DO R500 clamshell reminds us of the Samsung SPH-M500 from Sprint (at least in features), but does have stereo speakers inside that fold. No word just yet on release dates.
LG announces Santa Rosa lineup
The first Santa Rosa laptops are appearing at a frenzied pace these days, but unlike the leaked models we've seen from other manufacturers, LG has decided to go official with five upcoming X-Notes based on Intel's new chipset. Ranging from 12.1-inches (R200) to 15.4-inches (R500 and E500), these new units all come equipped with Core 2 Duo processors, between 1GB and 2GB of RAM, pleasantly non-integrated graphics from either NVIDIA or ATI, between 120GB and 160GB of storage space, and -- for every model other than the E500 -- high-speed 802.11n WiFi. Looks like these Vista-powered machines are available immediately, though as you probably expected, only LG's fellow Koreans will be snatching them up for the time being. [Via PC Joint]
