The dojo updated again, keeping in line with the recent Samus theme by offering up a character profile on Zero Suit Samus. Using her Final Smash maneuver, the Zero laser, causes her Power Suit to crumble into bits, revealing her in her new form. In the Zero Suit, Samus will be a lot quicker, as she will no doubt gracefully dispatch enemies with her Paralyzer.See some new images of the Zero Suit version of Samus in the gallery below.%Gallery-3347%

Over at the dojo, we're given a look at the Final Smash maneuver for Samus. Dubbed the Zero Laser, the maneuver shows Samus letting loose a shot from her arm cannon that is so supercharged, it causes her own suit to fall to her feet, nothing more than a pile of scrap. The thing has serious screen-clearing power.Hit up the gallery below for some images of the maneuver in action.%Gallery-3347%

  • No Metroid Prime 3 Wi-Fi for you

Sure, we wouldn't take the Soup Nazi's claim that Samus' latest jaunt will not include Wi-Fi multiplayer as truth, but when Michael Kelbeugh, the main man over at Retro Studios, says so, then we kind of take it as fact. And, that's exactly what he said in an interview with GamePro recently, dashing hopes here at Wii Fanboy Estates that the small delay the game has received was so that online multiplayer could be tweaked. So, why no online multiplayer in a game that is begging for it? Mikey K. (it's alright, we're BFF) says it's so the single-player campaign can be the best it can be, stating "It's something we talked about early on, but we only have so many resources. We opted to devote those resources to making a better single-player experience." We're sure the single-player portion of the game will rock our socks right off our feet, neatly fold them and place them in our top dresser drawer, but we don't think it'll be so good we'll be thanking Retro for not including online multiplayer.[Via Joystiq]

There's just no trusting those terrible twins, duplicitous doppelgängers and conniving clones, is there? A word of warning to those who may encounter them: If you're striking a dramatic pose in space, chances are your evil double is doing the same... right behind you. The full Metroid Prime 3: Corruption box art is right after the break.

We've been asking these silly questions over on DS Fanboy, and there's no reason you folks can't get in on the action. Two video game characters enter, one character leaves: Link or Samus? You choose. Judge by whatever criteria you prefer. There are no rules in the world of ridiculous questions.

With less than three months away from its August 20th release date, Nintendo has started to put some push behind Metroid Prime 3: Corruption with five new screenshots. You won't see any previously unannounced features, and these images follow Nintendo's tradition of grabbing awful stills from games that otherwise look great in motion, but uh... the logo artwork is certainly impressive. Considering that we haven't gotten much media from the FPS-adventure series since last September, this will have to suffice for now. %Gallery-3355%[Via Joystiq]

Since this week featured a heavy dose of awesome in the way of an epic battle between Samus and Halo's Master Chief (sort of ...), we couldn't help but think about other possible matchups. Like ... Samus versus Solid Snake.* Where could we possibly see that?Oh, right. We will see that -- when Super Smash Bros. Brawl hits. Until then, we'll have to settle for yet another SSBB video. You guys keep making 'em, and we'll keep showing them.*Actually, that would be a pretty simple fight ... after all, it only takes a crab to punk Snake down.

OK, some sections of this video are downright ridiculous, but being the fanboys that we are, seeing Samus lay the smack down on Master Chief is something we can't help but smile at. It's really good stuff and while we'd like to talk about it more, that'd just spoil it. Regardless of the ridiculous portions of video, we very much suggest you watch it.So head past the post break for the embedded video.[Via Joystiq]

For nearly six years now the message board battle has raged. Samus Aran vs. Master Chief: who would win a battle of the armor-suited titans? Arguing fanboys everywhere should realize, though, that the competition presents a false choice. As the above video proves, when Samus Aran fights the Master Chief, we're all winners. The fight sequence takes a little while to get going, but once it does the heavily Matrix-inspired action doesn't disappoint. The video is all the more impressive considering it's largely the work of one man, an amateur 3D animator named Monty Oum. We won't spoil the super-surprise ending, but don't be surprised to see a little unexpected tenderness on the battlefield.

MSNBC has a neat feature running right now where they talk about the top 5 games that should be movies, noting such highly-acclaimed titles as Halo, Prince of Persia and Metroid. Of course, talk of game-to-movie adaptations probably sends many a chill down your spine, as it does us, but the drool-worthy prospect of seeing Samus take on Ridley on the big screen makes us forget about every bad video game movie ever made. Well, maybe not the one ...If it were to actually happen, who would you like to see starring as Samus?[via Go Nintendo]

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gaming_news/Metroid_Prime_3_delayed_until_2008'; If you're the type of person who pre-orders things from retail giant Best Buy, then you might have received an email as recently as today explaining that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption has been pushed back from its current slated release of Summer 2007 to ... New Year's Eve. This, of course, shouldn't be taken as entirely true, but the fact that Reggie has been dodging the question as of late increases the chances that we won't be seeing Samus until she hits the console later this year in another game first.[Via Codename Revolution]

  • Best Buy informs pre-orders no Metroid 3 till 2008?

Best Buy sent out letters (example above with identifiers removed) to those who pre-ordered Metroid Prime 3: Corruption informing them the status of their pre-order has changed. The pre-order release date is now 12/31/2007. Does Best Buy know something that the rest of us don't, or are they just hedging their bets and protecting themselves by giving an outrageous date? All we know at this point is Metroid is not a Q2 release and it's already been said that the game will be "perfect" at release. Nintendo does not comment on rumors and speculation. Best Buy currently has 3/15/2007 as the release date on their website, other major retailers in the U.S. and gaming sites are still using 6/1/2007 or later as their placeholder date. We raise one eyebrow and now seek signs of a 2007 Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl release.[Thanks Zac]

  • Metroid Zero Suit Samus statue -- requires intense scanning

Since we're not sure when Super Smash Bros. Brawl is scheduled to assault us, it's hard to say with any certainty that the above Zero Suit Samus statue -- designed by the prolific folks at First4Figures -- will be ready in time for its launch. With a Q3 '07 release date for the statue, it seems likely that you'll be able to have one before Brawl drops featuring the very same Zero Suit Samus as a playable character. So, why all the concern about getting the statue first? We see it a couple different ways. First: what better way to reward the household's (world's?) reigning Super Smash Bros. champion than to bestow upon them a large (and, at $110, rather extravagant) statue? Oh, and second: you can always practice your moves by getting one of those Metal Gear Solid 4 Snake statues and forcing them to fight to the death ... after making them kiss ... like you weren't thinking that anyways.%Gallery-1699%

The latest in the long line of figurines from First 4 Figures has hit the internet and it's a real beauty. Featuring Samus in her Zero Suit (which you may have seen on our site during coverage for another game), this statue is guaranteed to make many a fanboy hot under the collar come its release during Q3 of this year. Of course, that isn't going to be a fanboy rolling in the dough post-purchase necessarily, as the suggested retail price of this statue is $109.99 US. Ouch! As if the games we purchased weren't expensive enough ...Anyone out there looking to get their hands on this statue?

We're not sure which part of the hotness that is today's featured video is the hottest, really. But when you blend footage from some of our favorite characters doing their thing in their own games with clips from Super Smash Brothers Brawl, do we really need to quibble about which part is the most awesome? No, probably not. It's best to just soak it in ... and we're all over the music choices, as well.

When we saw First4Figures first Metroid statue, we wondered "where's Samus?" As it turns out, she was coming all along. Though it's not shipping yet, they've released the statue's likely to be final appearance, in both Varia and Gravity suit varieties. Also coming are Samus' Light, Dark, and Phazon suits. The $99 11" tall statue will be available later Q4 2006, which is more than we can say for the recently dated Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Alex Davis over at First 4 Figurines recently wrote in to tell us that work on the first Samus figurines is nearly completed. In hopping over to his company's site to check out the figures, we were shocked to see just how amazing they looked. Featuring Samus in two distinct flavors (Gravity and Varia), these collectible statues are the type of decoration that proudly proclaims you prefer your women in ancient Chozo battle suits and sporting an arm cannon full of weaponry. Don't be ashamed, we prefer our women that way too. More pictures of the figurines are embedded into the post after the break.

The kind gentleman of First 4 Figures dropped us a line, along with our superiors, letting us know that they have finally revealed the first in their long line of proposed collectible statues from the Metroid universe. Oddly enough, however, is that the debut collectible is not for everyone's favorite bounty huntress hunter Samus. No, instead we get Kanden. The figures is looking sharp, even if it is not the finalized product. However, I've always felt you should always put your best foot forward, which would apply to First 4 Figures' debut collectible being one of the Samus variations. Featuring an interconnecting base that will allow Kanden to connect with other upcoming hunters, we're sure his first opponent will be none other than the blonde bombshell herself.
