And the meaningful updates just keep on coming over at the Smash Bros. Brawl dojo. Today's update reveals Zero Suit Samus' up special move, which allows her to use her Plasma Whip to latch on the edge of the level, allowing her to climb back on up and into the battle. The update also hints at other characters being able to perform this move, causing us to think that either Samus can lose her Plasma Whip to another character or there will be a similar in-game weapon.%Gallery-3347%

  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl includes sticker collection

Karma is a funny thing. We used to scoff at the bug-collecting nerdlinger, then we got addicted to Pokemon and that kid wouldn't even be seen talking with us. We used to laugh at the Baja jacket-clad guitarist sitting in the hallway trying to get girls interested as he fumbled his way through "Stairway," then Guitar Hero turned us into that exact guy, but with a toy guitar. Now, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has seen fit to punish us for making fun of the girl who adorned her binder with so many stickers that Fredrick von Trapperkeeper himself wouldn't have recognized it.With the new sticker collection feature you'll be, well, collecting stickers that you earn by playing the game featuring beloved Nintendo characters and putting them in an album. No, there's no practical purpose for collecting them and no, that won't stop us from going after them like we were Tommy Lee Jones and they were Harrison Ford ... or we were Harrison Ford and they were the One-Armed Man. Something like that. You might feel tempted to laugh at us as we scamper after our adhesive prize, but remember ... karma's watching.

The dojo's update today shows something new to the franchise: stickers. Stating that they're a bit easier to get than trophies, they present something else for completionists to enjoy. Personally, we're just fine with trophies, having no need to fill virtual notebooks with stickers. But, hey, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, eh ...%Gallery-3347%

In a rather substantial update over at the dojo today, a new character has been revealed in the Pokemon Trainer above. As a kind of "three for the price of one" character, using him means using his three little buddies you see above. See, the Pokemon Trainer never actually gets into the fight himself, instead pulling the puppet strings of his Pokemon from the sidelines of battle.%Gallery-3347%Read - Pokemon TrainerRead - The art of changing Pokemon[Thanks to everyone that sent this in!]

The regular Super Smash Bros. Brawl updates just keep getting better as a Pokémon Trainer has been revealed as a playable character. While we're slightly bummed about not coming to blows with Ash Ketchum, the Pokémon Trainer in Brawl doesn't do his fighting directly. Instead, he warms up the bench and issues commands to his three Pokémon: Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard. This isn't like say, Marvel vs Capcom or Street Fighter EX 3 where you could control all of your characters at the same time. The trio is cycled in and out with a special command and in classic Pokémon fashion. All of the Pokémon share the same damage meter, but they all have their own individual stamina which will prevent players from sticking to just one.Check out the update yourself for all the awesome, albeit, painfully embedded screenshots.[Thanks, Whymog!]

  • Dojo update: Franklin Badge

Today over at the dojo, we get a glimpse at a new item: the Franklin Badge. When this badge is picked up and worn, the player is protected from projectiles. As is shown when Zero Suit Samus fires at Donkey Kong while he is wearing the badge, all the bullets just bounce off. We imagine the badge will be the great equilizer in one-on-one matches against a certain incredibly cheap character.%Gallery-3347%

Following the trend of revealing other characters' Final Smash maneuver, today unveils Pit's devastating move. Dubbed Palutena's Army, the move is what you might exact. Literally, Pit calls on his army, as they swoop in and attack all of his foes. It's an interesting Final Smash that we can't wait to see in action.%Gallery-3347%

  • Dojo update: Smoke Ball and Ike's special moves

Yesterday's dojo update involved the unveiling of the Smoke Ball. A rather pointless accessory that doesn't do any damage, it lays down a thick smoke, making it hard for all of the players to see. Considering the point of the game is to utterly crush your opponents, we don't take kindly to items that get in the way of that.Today's dojo update is a bit more substantial, though. It reveals to us a number of Ike's special moves. His main move, Aether, allows him to toss his sword into and opponent, thrusting both into the air, jumping up after them and finally coming back down to finish the opponent off with a powerful over-head slash. His other move, Eruption, is pictured above and can be charged.%Gallery-3347%Read - Smoke BallRead - Ike's special moves

The Smash Bros. Brawl fan-made videos keep getting better, like this trailer made by Carlos Maulén and posted by YouTube user spiderfalcox. The segment follows the style and soundtrack of the original Smash Bros. trailer but replaces the video track with retro sprites. The result is a cool mash-up of the characters, generally from the games in which they first appeared. While this was posted about two months ago, it's new to us and certainly worth a look if you missed it then. It's just like mid-Summer TV.[Thanks, Kye]

  • Introducing a new game type in Smash Bros.

Nintendo is apparently fleshing out Adventure Mode with some stuff, as they reveal The Subspace Emissary. Having to deal with that whole "This World" bit of confusion we touched on a few weeks back, it's a "complete side-scrolling action game. It's storyline isn't overwrought-it's hastened along by a bunch of quick movies." So, where the previous games have been lauded for their incredible multiplayer, this time around they're trying to provide a better single-player experience, as well.Head past the break for a trailer of the new update (including a look at Peach).

  • Super Smash Bros Brawl to feature fully fleshed out single player experience

Not exactly known for its single player component, Nintendo has revealed "a robust side-scrolling action game" called The Subspace Emissary for their upcoming battle royal, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The Subspace Emissary crafts a story that ties the mascots together with shades of Kingdom Hearts, promising an emphasis on character development with "many famous characters persevering under the weight of their personal histories [and] shouldering their unique burdens." So expect to find Samus Aran coping with being born mute, while Solid Snake continues to ponder if love can bloom on a battlefield. From what we can gather, it looks to not only feature a cinematic slant, but the closest we'll probably get to seeing Pit in a robust, single player experience. Be sure to check out the update itself for a whole slew of new screenshots.

The latest update over at the dojo reveals a new stage to fight on. Dubbed Castle Siege, the stage has combatants duking it out while, well ... while the castle is being sieged. After a bit of fighting, the castle crumbles and all of the fighters are thrust inside the castle. But, it doesn't stop there, as eventually the castle will give out entirely, sending all of the fighters who are still in the match into an underground area that is to be shown later.Given our love of the Hyrule stage in Smash Bros. Melee, we're naturally excited about this stage.%Gallery-3347%

The official blog for Super Smash Bros. Brawl has pulled the wraps off of the newest playable character in the game: Ike from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. His special move is called "Aether," which he uses to finish his enemies off with a single sword blow. Let's just pray that none of his opponents come equipped with a lance. In other SSBB news, Animal Crossing's "Pitfall" will be one of the items, and Donkey Kong's "Final Smash" attack involves whipping out a set of bongos and "jamming." As a side effect of jamming though, DK starts annoying people at open mics and sells all his used CDs so he can follow Phish around, which is a level of realism we're just not ready for.[Thanks Drew and Purple_Haze]

We're digging all of the Animal Crossing love in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. First, we get the opportunity to catch live performances from K.K. Slider and now this item is revealed to be included in the game. Now, all we'd need is Tom Nook as a playable character and we'd be set for life.Of course, we don't have to tell you Animal Crossing fans what this item is or what it does, so just be sure to check out images of it in action in our gallery below.%Gallery-3347%

  • Miyamoto hints at new Nintendo franchise in 2008

In an interview with Dean Takahashi, Shigeru Miyamoto said that Nintendo may introduce some new characters next year "in the same way [Nintendo] came up with Pikmin when [they] introduced the GameCube." While that's all well and good for getting us pumped for The Next Big Thing, we're more interested in Miyamoto's explanation of why it's taking so long."I guess I don't necessarily see my job as creating new characters as it is creating new experiences," he said, later adding, "For characters, we came up with the concept of the Miis and that allows people to come up with their own characters." So don't forget you read it here first, the next big Nintendo characters are Chuck Norris, Kenny, Dr. Zoidberg and, of course, indie rockers Wilco. Wow ... the next Smash Bros. is going to be awesome.

  • Dojo update: Footstool Jump technique

Today's Dojo update reveals the Footstool Jump technique. Basically, it's possible for players to use their enemies as a sort of springboard now, provided that the jumping player has impeccable timing. And, with Smash Bros. often putting us on the edge of levels, fighting our enemies, we imagine we'll have the opportunity to deny many a hopeful player who've been recently knocked off the side of said level and trying to jump back on, with this maneuver. It looks as if once you squish your opponent, they'll be stunned, resulting in an instant death for them and a fond memory for you, should our described scenario become a reality for yourself. You can see some more images of the maneuver being demonstrated in our gallery below.%Gallery-3347%

Complete with breakable floors that regenerate, Pit's stage Skyworld looks like the kind of place we can enjoy. It has a simple layout, allowing the focus to be on the combatants and their fight, rather than dodging this or that, yet still includes a small amount of environmental danger for flavor. Of course, we say this knowing full well that the Hyrule stage has yet to be revealed (which is, basically, the only stage we play on in Smash Bros. Melee).Check out images of Pit's stage in the gallery below.%Gallery-3347%
