After last week's exciting dungeon and boating adventure, Massvely's MJ was ready to settle into the quiet life of crafting in ArcheAge. And crafting can definitely be a whole way of life, taking all your time, attention, and funds. If you want to specialize in multiple crafts, it can gobble up that much more! Since you voted for MJ to try all the crafting, she's been trying to dabble in everything. However, getting all the various materials necessary for all the different professions turned out to be quite the undertaking, so she's been paying special attention to armor (which tied for first in votes) and housing items (which came in second). Join us live at 7:00 p.m. to see the crafty side of life in ArcheAge and help direct MJ's two-hour adventures during this CMA Live. Then don't forget to vote and direct next week's (and this weekend's) adventures! • Microsoft says super-cheap Windows devices are on the way

It used to be that if you only wanted to pay $199 for a brand-new laptop, you'd have to try your luck on Black Friday or pick up a Chromebook. Not so anymore. Microsoft COO Kevin Turner outed a $199 HP Windows laptop called the Stream at the company's Worldwide Partner Conference this morning, and it should see the light of day in time for the holiday season. Fine, it doesn't sound like the biggest deal ever. There are already a few solid Windows laptops floating around there for less than $100 more, after all, and at this point no one's sure what $199 will actually get you. That's a fair point, but c'mon: on some level this move is all about symbolism. Microsoft is telling the industry -- and the consumers that fuel that immaculate machine -- that it's not giving up low-end computing to Google without a fight.

  • Stream: Spielberg's 'Extant' brings sci-fi mystery to Amazon Instant Video

Steven Spielberg. Halle Berry. A robot son and an unborn half human/half alien baby. Got your attention yet? Good, because if you're looking to add a new TV series to your viewing schedule, Amazon hopes you'll choose to watch its latest original. It's called Extant and it revolves around an astronaut (played by Berry) who returns home to her family from a year-long solitary space mission with a new life inside of her. All that we know is that her experiences "will change the course of human history." Could the baby have something to do with it? Possibly. The 13-episode first season is executive produced by Spielberg and is available on Amazon Instant Video each week a day after it airs on CBS in the US. After checking out the premiere episode, we liked the overall plot and reckon it offers enough mystery and tension to keep us watching (even if it starts a little slow). If you have a Prime subscription, then you'll be able to stream Extant right now via the web or on your smartphone, tablet or console.

Although ArcheAge has many different things to do, you decided that Massively's MJ should continue her adventures with quests, so that's what she's been doing. After showing off her favorite spot in game and brilliantly demonstrating death by jellyfish, she's been running to and fro delivering notes, assembling statues, and killing whatever vermin are bothering the locals. And there's certainly no lack of vermin! During those questing adventures MJ has come across a dungeon, and she's looking forward to taking you inside. Hopefully she'll find other in-game companions to enter with her as well, else she'll surely experience death in a new and spectacular way! If she's alone, will you still have her enter? Join us live at 7:00 p.m. to decide her fate live! And don't forget to participate in the next vote to decide which crafting profession MJ should pursue next week. If Google promised to fund your bohemian lifestyle for six months, in return for some kind of interactive art installation, what would you create? For the New York-based artist, Zach Lieberman, the answer was something totally out of the ordinary: He built the world's most connected digital piano, which plays notes extracted from our planet's cacophony of live radio streams.

Sony is looking to grab additional eyeballs by broadcasting its E3 2014 press event to more than 40 movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada. The "PlayStation E3 Experience" on the silver screen will include a special 30-minute show after the press event hosted by Geoff Keighley, featuring extended video game footage and interviews with developers. Without spoiling the surprise, Sony also teased door prizes for those that attend the viewing at one of the theaters. PlayStation's E3 press conference is scheduled for Monday, June 9 at 8:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. PT), with the show itself slated to begin a half hour later. Tickets are free, but those interested in attending should register soon before spaces fill up. The PlayStation Blog has a list of the venues hosting the viewing parties. By comparison, while Nintendo is ditching the live stage show format for a second year in a row in favor of a Nintendo Direct stream for its E3 press conference, it is inviting 3,000 fans to Los Angeles to watch its Super Smash Bros. tournament. Operation Supply Drop's 8-bit Salute is a charitable streaming marathon that aims to supply U.S. military troops stationed overseas with video game care packages. Naughty Dog will award prizes to top donators after its event wraps up; donators from last week's aborted stream are encouraged to send PayPal receipts to Naughty Dog in order to remain eligible. 05.19.2014

The closed beta phase of PlayStation Now for PS4 will begin tomorrow, Sony announced. The service's beta program has been available for PS3 after invites went out to players in late January. PlayStation Now was announced in January as a service that allows players to stream PS3 games to their compatible systems like they would a video on platforms like YouTube and Netflix. The service was originally expected to include PS One and PS2 games, though Sony has since been mum on the ability to stream classics. A previous rumor indicated that backwards compatibility for those consoles could be added to the PS4. PlayStation Now will launch this year for PS4, PS3, Vita and "select" 2014 Bravia TVs. Sony is expanding its PS3 beta program to a "broader audience" soon, so those interested in testing the streaming platform can register on Sony's site. [Image: Sony]

Just a few short weeks ago, Massively took its first in-depth look at Shards Online, an upcoming isometric sandbox that straddles the broad line between massive and not-so-massive. The catch? We weren't permitted to snap screenshots or video for you! Developer Citadel Studios aims to rectify that with its first-ever livestream of the game tonight on its Twitch channel. Shards Online launched a Kickstarter yesterday, so if you like what you see, you can already contribute to the project, which raised almost $25,000 in its first day. The stream itself begins tonight at 8 p.m. EDT; we've embedded it below.

Now that the BBC is killing off BBC Three, the corporation is pushing viewers over to iPlayer. Auntie is testing the waters by letting users binge-watch (Netflix-style) Chris Lilley's comedy Jonah from Tonga over the weekend. The spin-off from Summer Heights High sees young Jonah Takalua try to navigate school, and will be available to watch on BBC Three in the old-fashioned way from next Thursday. We haven't seen the show yet, but we figure that if you're already a fan of Lilley's unique sensibilities, then this will be a must-watch. Jonah from Tonga is available to stream in its entirety for the next 48 hours on BBC iPlayer.

Most people take soil for granted, assuming that if you shove a seed into some dirt and add some water, hey presto. Stick it under an electron microscope, however, and you suddenly see a whole microcosm that exists beneath our feet. Landscape gardener Chris Beardshaw takes us on a tour to see why soil is so important, what risks it faces and what happens to it when we're not paying attention. It may not seem like the most entertaining subject for a TV documentary, but there's plenty of useful facts about dirt that you'll be able to wheel out the next time you go for a walk. Unless you're a germophobe, of course. Deep Down and Dirty, The Science of Soil is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Those of you who woke up this morning with a craving for blood and glory will be happy to learn that publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Fatshark have officially launched War of the Vikings. Normally this is where we'd outline the historical action game's features, but in this case we can do you one better. Last week our own Richard Mitchell and Anthony Agnello were joined by War of the Vikings producer Gordon Van Dyke for a Joystiq Stream. Don't worry if you missed the initial broadcast, you can find an archive of the entire thing by visiting our original post. If that hour-long glimpse at the blood-slicked chaos of battle has piqued your interest, you can pick up War of the Vikings from Steam at a price of $25. Alternately, those of you with deeper pockets can spring for the $35 "Blood Eagle" edition of the game which offers an art book, soundtrack and special in-game gear, or the $175 "Valhalla Edition" which features all content found in the Blood Eagle version of the game, along with all future DLC content, a strategy guide, a digital novel, and quite a bit more. Trion is certainly gung-ho about ArcheAge these days, so if you've come around to accepting that it's coming to the West this year, the studio has a lengthy stream devoted to introducing you to the game's world and the story behind it. The stream starts out with the new CGI story trailer and is followed up with a discussion about the locations and lore of ArcheAge. "There is so much lore in this game that it is absolutely amazing," one of the devs mentioned, going on to say that XLGAMES sent Trion a 200-page summary to help the team understand it. You can check out all of the goodness after the break. [Thanks to Kari for the tip!]
