  • Sony Honami smartphone gets an official teaser, a few unofficial photos

The buzz surrounding Sony's Honami smartphone is reaching a fever pitch, and Sony itself is finally joining in with a new teaser image for the device. The official shot only confirms the presence of a G-branded camera lens and an LED flash. However, it coincides with a new batch of unofficial photos on Digi-Wo that show the Honami in white at a Sony event. While there's nothing new in the pictures beyond the color, it's clear that the Android flagship is nearing its debut. The company isn't mentioning any launch details itself. However, we won't be surprised if the new Xperia appears at IFA next week.

  • Oppo teases N1 smartphone launch in September, promises backside touch

Oppo may have already confirmed the existence of its N-Lens series devices, but it's offering us a few more details through official teasers for the line's inaugural smartphone, the N1. While the posts show little of the handset in question, they point to both a September launch and backside touch input. It's also clear that the N1 is important to Oppo -- a timeline (pictured after the break) positions the phone as a spiritual successor to last year's Find 5 flagship. With the unveiling just weeks away, we won't have to wait long to get the full story.

  • Tropico 5 annexing Xbox 360, PC, Mac, Linux in 2014

People of Tropico, rejoice! Or rather, since we're the ones in charge of your little island nation, despair! Kalypso Media has announced that Tropico 5 will debut on Xbox 360, PC, Mac and Linux sometime in 2014, which means that you'll soon be as overworked and underpaid as we've always (mostly inadvertently) made you in the past. Tropico 5 will span centuries of the nation's development, from colonial times all the way through the present, so you'll be stuck with our shoddy leadership forever, essentially. The game's new "Dynasty" features also allow us to appoint our in-game extended family to positions of power, for better or worse. Furthermore, our use of Tropico 5's new maritime fleet-based global trading system will almost certainly result in the loss of all of your livestock, as well as the vast majority of this proud nation's natural resources. But hey, we'll have plenty of imported limes! Delicious, expensive limes! Meanwhile, the game's new cooperative/competitive multiplayer mode allows up to four people to build cities on the same island map, after which they can either share resources, or declare war on each other. In related news, we're pleased to inform you that all of your ramshackle apartments have been demolished in order to make room for several more completely unnecessary airports.

  • Diablo 3 teaser site hints at possible Reaper of Souls expansion

A new teaser page on the official Diablo 3 site looks to point towards an expansion called 'Reaper of Souls.' The page shows an image of a looming, shadowy entrance, along with a quote from the Book of Tyrael, which reads "Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all." The page itself is titled Reaper of Souls, and text at the bottom of it indicates Blizzard trademarked that term, something TMView confirms happened just yesterday. Also, the image has the filename "d3x_teaser_en_us.jpg," the 'x' there suggestive on its own. We know a Diablo 3 expansion has been planned for some time, but this teaser page adds to suspicions that more info will be forthcoming soon, most likely at Gamescom later this month. In a recent earnings call, Blizzard President Michael Morhaime said the company would share "Diablo-related news" at the event, while invites for its press conference there teased a "special announcement." Blizzard also trademarked 'The Dark Below' recently; that now seems likelier to be related to World of Warcraft or something else entirely. It's worth noting the teaser page quotes Tyrael's companion book for the game, which is due to be released on October 1 and promises "never-before-known secrets" about the Diablo universe. The teaser also comes just ahead of the action-RPG's arrival on PS3 and Xbox 360, set for September 3, while the PS4 receives the game sometime next year.

  • 'Dungeon of the Endless' teased by Amplitude Studios

Amplitude Studios, developers of Endless Space, released a trailer that teases its new project, apparently called Dungeon of the Endless. The video shows spaceships and explosions with a pretty, retro-inspired design. In the teaser trailer, Amplitude Studios asks the question, "What's behind the door?" We're deducing that we may learn the answer to that question at Gamescom, primarily because the video ends with the words "more at Gamescom." We know, our detective skills are incredible.

  • Continent of the Ninth Seal unveils the Demonisher

Playing a Shaman in Continent of the Ninth Seal just got a touch more interesting, as Webzen has unveiled the Demonisher, a new class advancement available to players who follow the shamanic ways. The Demonisher is a long-range and melee attacker who uses an orb to initiate magical attacks. Demonishers have a wide range of abilities at their disposal, including evasion tricks, powerful offensive volleys, and a transformation skill that increases movement speed and the power of some attacks. Demonishers also offer debuff skills for use in groups. The addition of the Demonisher isn't all that Webzen has planned this month. To celebrate C9's first anniversary, the studio will hold a number of special events on July 24th. These include in-game giveaways, massive online competitions for real-life peripherals, and the chance for new players to start a character at level 20. Check out the demonisher in action after the break. [Webzen press release]

  • HTC teases a 'little' phone launch tomorrow, odds are it's a One Mini

HTC isn't being very subtle, is it? Just a couple of days after the company offered an infographic extolling the virtues of small things, it has posted a teaser picture for a small device with promises of a "'little' bit of news" on Thursday. Given the gadget's One-like appearance, it's not hard to deduce what's coming -- this is an early official glance at the One Mini. HTC doesn't have more details at this stage, although it's clear that we'll get the full scoop within a matter of hours.

  • AT&T teases July 16th event, wants us to 'get ready for what's next'

AT&T is attempting to cater to the Boy / Girl Scout in each of us: the carrier wants us to be prepared for what's coming. What this particular piece of news is, we're not quite certain, but it's apparently something AT&T is rather proud of. Beneath the teaser, the company boasts quotes from various publications about the strength, speed and expansiveness of its network, which means this is likely related to something in that sphere. Based on that, we're hoping this means we'll hear some promising news about LTE-Advanced; either way, we'll be waiting until July 16th to learn more about what the company has planned.

  • LG teasers drop not-so-subtle hints of G2 launch at August 7th event (video)

While LG initially gave no clues as to the focus of its August 7th event, the company isn't leaving much room for doubt now. It's sending both formal invitations and a teaser video (after the break) suggesting that it would be "Great 2 Have You" at the New York gathering -- a likely reference to the rumored G2 flagship. LG is still coy about showing the phone itself, although we already know that there's a speedy Snapdragon 800 under the hood. We just wish we didn't have to wait a month to see a lot more.

  • MetroPCS teases Galaxy S 4 launch next week

We've known for a while that a MetroPCS-friendly version of Samsung's Galaxy S 4 was in the cards, but the carrier hasn't been very forthcoming with its plans. At least, until now -- the company just posted a teaser on Twitter for a Samsung-based launch next week. While the text is slightly cryptic, the mention of a Galaxy S III "+1" makes it quite clear that the 2013 Galaxy flagship is what's on deck. This variant won't have HSPA for the T-Mobile network, at least if it's anything like what we saw at the FCC, but it should include LTE support. Let's just hope that the phone ships quickly -- MetroPCS customers have been waiting long enough.

  • Laika Believes in this new teaser trailer

Minicore Studios has dropped the first trailer for its alternate history action RPG, Laika Believes: The Sun at Night. Robo-animal enemies and branching levels aside, just look at those puppy-dog eyes! Who's a good little girl? Who's a good little mechanically altered war machine? You are! You are!

  • Age of Wushu forecasts weather system

What's life without a little weather to keep things interesting and give socially awkward people something to talk about around the water cooler? While many MMOs have given up on including weather systems, Age of Wushu kindly disagrees. The title is preparing to roll out dynamic weather in a forthcoming update, and a new teaser trailer hints at the possibilities that it could present. The trailer shows a character running through a storm at night. Sheets of rain come down as the occasional bolt of lightning illuminates the surroundings for a few seconds. Check out the video after the break, and don't forget your poncho if you're heading into this title!

  • EverQuest Next teaser photo posted

There's your EverQuest Next, boys and girls, straight from the Smed himself. SOE President John Smedley posted a teaser photo on Twitter for the upcoming sandbox fantasy title, saying, "Very excited to show EQN at SOE Live." The photo shows a grimacing character model and various armor pieces on two screens. It's obvious that the screens are a work in progress, as the textures and colors aren't included. Although it's been lightly talked about by the studio for years now, EverQuest Next's full reveal will happen at this August's SOE Live. While we'll have to wait to see what's announced for the title, we have our own wish list of what should be included.

  • ASUS Computex teaser claims new hardware will 'move you'

ASUS has a habit of teasing products and it has done it again with a photo of this spun metal... thing. Posted on the company's G+ page as a Computex taster, the picture is accompanied by a puzzlingly vague hint that the new device will "move you." But unless we're about to see an automotive or fitness accessory, we won't get too excited -- after all, it could just be another disc writer.

  • Latest Nokia Lumia 928 teaser demonstrates OIS skills (video)

Nokia is continuing its trail of breadcrumbs to the official Lumia 928 launch, with today's drop including this rendering of the phone in white and a video meant to show off its optical image stabilization chops. The phone pulls off some high quality video recording attached to a remote control helicopter flying through the forest, as it attempts to keep blur to a minimum. It also shows off a flash that, to our eyes, looks like the xenon bulb featured in the 808 PureView. There's no comparison to other devices this time around, so you'll just have to imagine what other phones could capture in similar circumstances (or, do the test yourself and send us the video -- whatever works). Check out the demo after the break to see the results yourself, or hit the source link to sign up for more info.

  • Neverwinter teases module 1 update

Cryptic's got a tiny surprise for Neverwinter players today: a teaser page for its module 1 update. The studio posted a splash page featuring a mystical forest with the phrase "They would seize from the moon the way to ruin and riches" floating above it. In an interview with Massively a few weeks ago, Lead Producer Andy Velasquez acknowledged that the team was hard at work on this update even before Neverwinter went into open beta: "For the rest of the team, they've spent the last couple of weeks working on the first update which will come out a couple of months after the launch." Cryptic says that more details on module 1 are coming soon, but in the meanwhile, why don't we engage in a fun round of speculation as to what this update could be? [Thanks to Mark for the tip!]

  • Eternal Darkness spiritual successor 'Shadow of the Eternals' announced, crowdfunding begins Monday [Update: PC/Wii U, story details]

Update: Precursor Games will seek $1.5 million in funding when its campaign begins on Monday, a representative of the studio has told IGN. Additionally, Shadow of the Eternals will be released as 12 episodes for PC and Wii U, though an expected release window was not given. Initial story details describe Detective Paul Becker as a Louisiana cop embroiled in a conflict between two warring cults. The game will "span over 2500 years of history throughout Egypt, England, Hungary, and the United States" while players "try to balance the mechanics of combat, magick, and sanity events." Original text: Shadow of the Eternals was announced earlier today in a trailer on IGN with wording that heavily implies the game is a spiritual successor to the 2002 Gamecube cult classic Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Under development at Precursor Games, Shadow of the Eternals will be multiplatform, presuming the success of a crowdfunding drive that is set to begin on Monday. Whether that crowdfunding initiative takes the shape of a Kickstarter, Indiegogo or independent campaign remains to be seen. What is known, however, is that Eternal Darkness director and producer Denis Dyack is involved in the project to some degree. On a more cryptic note, the Latin phrase at the beginning of the trailer translates to "The Order of the Unseen," which jives with the trailer's request for the viewer to "join the order." Personally, we're going to need to see some kind of incentive before we sign anything. Do we get a free toaster? Are utilities included? Let's make a deal here. [Thanks, Tom!]

  • Massively Exclusive: A look at C9's new 'extreme' dungeon

Continent of the Ninth Seal is preparing to unleash a raid to end all raids tomorrow. Webzen is marketing Bardiel Seal as an "extreme dungeon" that will send innocent players to their doom as they fight three new raid bosses: Molleck, Creios, and the Rebecca twins. Despite the raid designation, Bardiel Seal only requires four level-62 players to tackle. If the bosses are downed, the game will reward the victors with some of the best armor to hit C9 yet. The fourth and final boss of the dungeon will be patched in next month. To celebrate the release of Bardiel Seal, Webzen is handing out a reward package for returning players. • Olympus teases new flagship PEN camera, tours it around China on May 11th

Last year, Olympus' release schedule danced around the E-P3: the camera maker launched the semi-pro OM-D E-M5 and refreshed its smaller PEN bodies, but didn't touch its original mirrorless form factor. We know the company won't be forgetting its roots this year, as its Chinese branch has posted a teaser for a next-generation, flagship PEN camera. There are no official details beyond superlatives about "classic" textures and "unprecedented control," but rumors suggest it will be called the E-P5 (E-P4 skipped due to superstitions) and might be joined by the mid-tier E-PL6. We won't have long to learn the full story when Olympus is showing off its new PEN in four Chinese cities between May 11th and June 1st -- in-person demos require more than just a silhouette, after all.

  • Acer teases May 3rd reveal of a tilt-screen laptop deemed worthy of Star Trek (video)

Our eyebrows are officially raised. Acer has revealed that it's going all-in with a promotional connection to Star Trek Into Darkness, and it's hinting at the May 3rd unveiling of a "unique" laptop that it believes would be at home in Captain Kirk's universe. We doubt that many people will still use Windows 8 in the 23rd century, but there may be some truth to the claims of novelty: a brief clip shows a clamshell design whose display can tilt outward like that of a desktop monitor, most likely to improve the comfort of touchscreen input without going the full convertible route of PCs like the Dell XPS 12. We'll know soon enough whether or not Acer's PC is the stuff of sci-fi or remains firmly grounded in reality.
