  • Metal Gear Solid 4 in late 2007, hopefully -- new trailer for now

According to a Famitsu report, Hideo Kojima estimates that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will need at least another year's worth of development time before it's finished. While Kojima had previously promised to deliver in 2007, he's narrowed that window to late 2007 -- at the earliest. For now, Konami is offering a new trailer, which is currently premiering at Tokyo Game Show. The new trailer -- partially captured in bootleg form from the show floor here & here -- is allegedly 100% gameplay, although Konami has tweaked the camera perspective for clarity. At just 6 minutes, it's significantly shorter than the E3 presentation, but reveals new gameplay elements, including stealth items (e.g. an oil drum), the Octocam suit, and a shift from stealth-orientated missions to player's choice gameplay (i.e. you have a goal and are free to decide how to achieve it).[Thanks, nijah]

  • Super Mario Galaxy video in HD

We've seen tons of Mario and the more we see, the more we salivate for his new game Super Mario Galaxy. As an astronautical platformer (we made that up), the game was an absolute blast when we played it at E3. It ended up being our absolute favorite Wii title on-hand at the show. This latest trailer, in spectacular high definition, shows a lot of gameplay that those keen on Mushroom Kingdom's greatest hero might have seen before, but being in beautiful HD this time around, it's worth the possible revisit. Obviously, due to the video's resolution you'll have to head over to Game Trailers to check it out as we cannot embed it into the post as usual.

  • Tokyo Game Show and X06 footage on Xbox Live Marketplace starting tomorrow

Microsoft had a pretty good response (1.5 million individuals downloading 5 million pieces of content over several days certainly qualifies as pretty good) to their Bring Home E3 event on Xbox Live, allowing Xbox 360 owners to download large amounts of trailers, demos and high definition video direct from the show floor, so for the next nine days they'll be doing it all over again. With the Tokyo Game Show and their X06 event in Spain coming in the next few days, they plan on making over 100 pieces of content available including HD video from the show. Since our passes to the shows appear to have been lost in the mail, we're definitely feeling this. Add in the ability to queue up 5 downloads at a time added in the Spring dashboard update and it's even easier to get everything posted for the next nine days. Make sure that you do because some of it will disappear forever after September 29th. We're still playing the Lost Planet demo from E3, as good as reading about all the HD gaming coming our way is, we'll take actually experiencing it at home any day.[Via Xbox 360 Fanboy]

  • Rocket Slime trailer oozes onto the web

A new trailer is up for Rocket Slime Adventures. This trailer demonstrates a lot of the gameplay in the title, as well as some of the game's cutscenes. What we're referring to as the "huge frickin' battlestations" have some inspired names, such as the gigantic tree dubbed Chrono Twigger. Overall, it's a fun video and may be seen embedded into the post, after the break.

  • More than one level in Red Steel after all

We were pleased to learn that Red Steel is actually a full length game (shocking!) and not just the same level we've seen dozens of times, with dozens of guys bouncing around a set and waving the Wiimote. Can't they find a woman for one of these? Where are your Frag Dolls now, Ubisoft? Or please, get the intense guy again. He was our favorite. And while this new video is quite the sizzler, we're insulted by the fact that the actor left perfectly good sushi just sitting there in favor of picking the game back up. Find the pause button, son. It's all about priorities.Keep going to check out the video.

Spectral Souls is slowly creeping towards release in the States (it's coming September 26th). The game comes from the publisher NIS and as you know, the success of this game may make it easier for Disgaea PSP to hit US shelves. While the first trailer of this game had much more dramatic music, it failed to showcase real gameplay, as noted by our reader Pa. This new trailer goes over the skills you'll need for this sprite-based isometric RPG. For those of you keeping an eye out for some old-school RPG-ing, you may want to check this out.

Rockstar just released its first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (via its newly-opened website), and it features all the elements of previous GTA trailers. Let's see if we can spot the formula: Pop music contemporary to the game's era ... (Foreigner -- "I want to know what love is") Over-the-top voice acting spouting over-the-top dialogue ... ("When will you grow a brain?") Montage of gun fights ... Multiple screens of the same video, reminiscent of Warhol or 80s music videos ... (see above) It's a tried-and-true formula for a Grand Theft Auto, itself a tried-and-true formula. Video is embedded after the break, so judge for yourself.[via PSP Fanboy]

Not only did Rockstar release an awesomely sweet trailer for their upcoming Vice City Stories, they also updated the official website. The site includes aforementioned trailer, but in PSP format, tons of screenshots, wallpapers, and a sampling of the ever-popular (and always amazing) radio. Yes: I listened until the feed looped... twice. The trailer and the radio were enough to secure a pre-order from me. The game will release in October.[Thanks, ZENegade!]

Famitsu has beautiful new screens of Ace Combat X, an all-new continuation of the Ace Combat series. Famitsu also grabbed a trailer, which is voiced in English so you can fully appreciate the cheese. The graphics are sharp, and features some potentially awesome multiplayer. Makes me want to watch Top Gun again. Wait... I never want to watch that movie ever again. The game comes out September 17th.[Via PSP-Vault][Update 1: Trailer is now embedded after the cut, for your viewing pleasure.]

Quick note here: we wish that we would have found this trailer for our HD Trailer Tuesday Wednesday. Game trailers usually isn't our cup of tea but this trailer looks amazing in high-def, simply amazing. Unfortunately, Gamespot requires you to have their $1.69 a month subscription to view the high-def version of the trailer otherwise you are stuck watching it in 'ol SD. Games like these make people build gaming rigs to hook up to their HDTV to get the full experience. Do you game via a PC on your HDTV?

As we promised earlier, a new trailer for the upcoming PSP-exclusive Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was revealed today at the Games Convention in Germany. As you know, Naked Snake no longer works alone in this mission, which takes place six years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 3. You'll have to choose your allies wisely, and strategically coordinate with them. According to Gamespot, you can even switch control between your four allies by pressing a button. Fans will be giddy to know that the original voice cast is back, including David Hayter who called the script for Portable Ops the best one yet. Also revealed was the downloadable characters feature: you can access different wi-fi points around the world and have characters (either from the story or randomly generated) appear in your game. Wow. How the GPS feature of the game will work hasn't been revealed yet, but let's not forget the game will be appearing at TGS.Once you're done watching the trailer, visit our sister site Joystiq for some more hands-on impressions and a crazy motherload of screenshots.

Fresh from Leipzig, this new Red Steel trailer makes us wanna grab a shotty and get our vengeance on. Still, we are a little disappointed ... this new ad follows the same format of this older Red Steel trailer. We get it already -- it's immersive. And there's a guy on a roof with a sword. But all grumbling aside, we're ready to get into the game. Just watch that aquarium.

  • HD Trailer Wednesday

Yeah, we know. It is suppose to be HD Trailer Tuesday, but we just didn't get a chance to have one yesterday and keeping the new Mitsubishi 1080p projector in mind, it is better late than never. So, we then present to you HD Trailer Wednesday. Apple unloaded a slew of high-def trailers within the last week and if you only have time for one HD trailer today, check out The Reaping. The jury is still out on whether this movie is going to be any good or not but the trailer sure does look amazing in high-def. Fast Food Nation looks rather interesting but nothing to take very seriously. Talking about not taking something seriously, Jack Black has a new film coming out called Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. Heed our warning: if you 'understand' Tenacious D or think Jack Black is always funny, watch this trailer; if you think he is an idiot, don't waste your time here. The rest of the trailers are alright but nothing to special.

This new ad for Tingle's upcoming 'freshly-picked' DS adventure was originally featured on the Japanese DS website, but luckily it was added to YouTube for your (and our) viewing ease. There's something very sinister about the spotlight on Tingle's maniacally bobbing head (and that laugh ... that laugh!), but see for yourself. We'll be curled up in the corner, rocking back and forth.

As if going crazy with Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins wasn't enough, Gametrailers.com has posted three new videos of Every Extend Extra on their site. (And you can download the iPod-formatted videos to your PSP!) You may have already seen 1UP's beautiful coverage of the game, but unless you've imported the game, videos are the best we have until the game ships in a month (for only $30, too!). From what I've played, the game isn't that much better than the original Every Extend, but it certainly is a lot of fun regardless. Spencer Yip, from Siliconera, seems to agree with that sentiment as well. After watching these videos, feel free to read his extensive import review.

The retro hits just keep on coming today! This newly released trailer of the upcoming Capcom Classics Reloaded compliation shows off the game in action, and it gets a retro-loving gamer like myself pretty excited. Not only will it feature Street Figher II, and Ghouls 'n Goblins, it'll also come with game-sharing so that you and your friends can play using just one UMD. The compliation will feature more than 15 games, and will collect stats, and save things like cheats and music in galleries that you can easily access. Best of all, it has a nice budget price of $27 shipped on amazon.com. The game comes out October 24th.

  • Dead & Furious trailer fails to excite [Update]

This trailer for Dead & Furious honestly fails to cause any sort of excitement over here at the DS Fanboy offices, instead replacing what should be a mild build up of salivation around our mouths with sharp feelings of disdain for the title. With some abysmal graphics and gameplay that looks, honestly, boring, we're not too sure that Dead & Furious is so much, well...furious. Dead though, we're sure of that.[Update: The video has been removed from You Tube. Hope you were able to catch it in time!]
