No Trophies for SOCOM at launch, to be patched later
"The trophies will become available via patch in the coming weeks," SCEA's Jennifer Clark told us when we inquired about the game's strange lack of Trophies. Yes, if you buy SOCOM Confrontation, you'll find that it's absent of the collectible Trophies everyone's been raving about. It's strange that Slant Six wasn't able to include Trophies into the final version of the game, but this may explain why we had so much trouble finding out the Trophy list so soon before the game's release. We're hoping that the Trophies that are enabled will take advantage of a retroactive rewards system. Undoubtedly, hardcore SOCOM fans are ready to spend hours in the online world of Confrontation. Of course, let Burnout Paradise teach a lesson: perhaps it's best not to expect retroactive Trophies to um ... y'know, work.

TGS 08: RE5, SFIV, White Knight, more to support PS3 Trophies
We're still recovering from our trip to TGS (in fact, we're still here in Tokyo). However, we thought you'd appreciate this list of new games which will definitely be supporting Trophies when they release on the PS3. Here are the Trophies for Tom Clancy's EndWar. The RTS game places you in 2020 during World War III. You can play as three factions: the Russian Spetsnaz Guards Brigade, the European Federation Enforcers Corps and the United States' Joint Strike Force. Sounds like typical Tom Clancy fare to us. Burnout Paradise PS3 Trophies patch released, not retroactive
Folks, we've got good news and bad news. Okay, the good news first: Criterion Games has released a patch for Burnout Paradise that adds Trophies. The bad news is those Trophies are not going to be awarded retroactively. Despite having previously stating they were "thinking ahead" with Trophy support, the developers said today, "We had hoped to use this to retroactively award trophies, but we discovered during testing that this is not possible." A new game save will be required. Criterion notes this is the same as with all other PS3 games that patched in Trophies. Though that's true, we're admittedly a bit bummed since we had been replaying the game under the promise that we'd retroactively get some (online) street cred for our PSN ID. [Via PS3 Fanboy]

Trophies mandatory 'soon', hints Capcom's John Diamonon
In the comments for a post on PlayStation.Blog, a reader complains about other commenters complaining about the lack of trophy support for games like Mega Man 9. "The day will come when you get trophies in almost every game then you will complain about something else ignorant." John Diamonon of Capcom posts a follow-up comment to the statement, hinting "that day is coming soon." We already know Capcom's contract with Sony stipulate Trophy support for all future titles, but is Diamonon hinting at something more widespread? Considering how obsessed we can be about Trophies, we hope to hear something more official soon. Do you guys think Sony should require all games to have Trophy support in the near future, similar to the Microsoft requirement that all their titles contain Achievements?[Via MaxConsole]
